분리막을 이용한 정수처리 System에서 처리공정 및 운전조건의 최적화에 관한연구 (A Study on the Opimization of Process and Operation Condition for Membrane System in Tap Water Treatment)

  • 기존의 정수처리 공정인 응집 침전 과정을 대체하여 분리막을 이용한 상수처리 시스템의 개발을 목적으로한다. 따라서 4가지 형태의 정수처리 공정과 분리막의 분획 분자량을 변화시켰을 때 막 투과수의 변화와 안정적이며 높은 투과수를 얻기 위해 필요한 운전 조건의 최적화를 실험하였다 실험결과 한외여과막이 정밀여과막보다 막 투과수 감소경향이 완만했으며 초기 투과수 회복율은 더 높았다. 수질 분석의 결과 한회여과막이 정밀 여과막보다 우수하였지만 전처리에 의한 차이는 나지 않았다. 운전 조건에 따른 flux 는 온도, 선속도가 높을수록 압력이 낮을수록 flux 감소율이 적은 경향을 나타내었다.

Analysis of thermal energy efficiency for hollow fiber membranes in direct contact membrane distillation

  • Although membrane distillation (MD) has great promise for desalination of saline water sources, it is crucial to improve its thermal efficiency to reduce the operating cost. Accordingly, this study intended to examine the thermal energy efficiency of MD modules in a pilot scale system. Two different modules of hollow fiber membranes were compared in direct contact MD mode. One of them was made of polypropylene with the effective membrane area of $2.6m^2$ and the other was made of polyvinylidene fluoride with the effective membrane area of $7.6m^2$. The influence of operation parameters, including the temperatures of feed and distillate, feed flow rate, and distillate flow rate on the flux, recovery, and performance ratio (PR), was investigated. Results showed that the two MD membranes showed different flux and PR values even under similar conditions. Moreover, both flow rate and temperature difference between feed and distillate significantly affect the PR values. These results suggest that the operating conditions for MD should be determined by considering the module properties.

  • The transport and recovery of Levafix brilliant red E-4BA and Levafix brilliant red E-6BA were investigated using polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fiber based supported liquid membrane containing tetra butyl ammonium bromide (TBAB) in coconut oil as a carrier. The influencing parameters studied are: pH of the feed solution, concentration of dye in the feed solution, extractant concentration, and various kind of stripping agent, rate of stirring, time of transport, reusability of membrane and stability of membrane. Increase in TBAB concentration inside the membrane enhances the flux with its maximum value at $1.553{\times}10^{-4}$ M TBAB. Further increase in the concentration of TBAB leads to decreased rate of transport due to increase in viscosity of membrane liquid. The optimum conditions for dye transport are: pH of feed ($7{\pm}0.1$), $1.553{\times}10^{-4}$ M extractant concentration, 350 rpm for stirring, $4.9{\times}10^{-1}$ M potassium hydrogen phthalate as a stripping solution, the time of transport 6 h. It was noticed that flux values were increased with increasing dye concentration in the feed phase. Applying this study to textile wastewater, dyes were transported up to 98% in 6 h. This recovery technique is rewarding to environment and economic.

폐솔더 박리액으로부터 확산투석법에 의한 질산의 회수 (Recovery of Nitric Acid from Waste Solder Stripper by Diffusion Dialysis)

  • 음이온 교환막을 이용한 확산투석에 의해 폐솔더 박리액으로부터 질산을 효율적으로 회수하기 위한 기초 연구를 실시하였다. 우선 모의용액 실험의 경우 유속, 유속비, 질산농도, 금속이온 종류 및 농도 등이 질산 회수율에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 유속이 증가함에 따라 질산 회수율은 감소하였고 급액에 대한 순수의 유속비(W/F)가 증가할수록 질산 회수율은 증가하여 유속비가 1.5이상에서 약 99%의 질산 회수율을 보였다. 급액중 질산용액의 농도가 증가함에 따라 3.0 M 까지는 산회수율이 증가 하였으나 3.0 M 이후로는 회수율은 점차 낮아 졌다. 확산투석막을 통과하는 금속이온의 투과율은 Pb, Na, Cu순 이었고, Fe과 Sn은 투과되지 않았다. 실제 폐솔더액을 사용하여 유속 $0.9L/hr-m^2$, W/F = 1.3 으로 확산 투석을 실시한 결과 약 94%의 질산 회수율을 얻을 수 있었다.

세라믹 분리막의 분산형 용수공급 시스템 적용을 위한 전처리 연계공정의 고플럭스 평가 (Evaluation of High Flux Combined with Pretreatment Process for Application of Decentralized Water Supply System with Ceramic Membrane)

  • In this study, applicability of the decentralized water supply system were investigated by the high flux evaluation using ceramic membrane with combined pretreatment process. A) filtration process increased the transmembrane pressure of 1.4 kPa and 89.5 kPa on 2 and $5m^3/m^2{\cdot}d$ of filtration flux, respectively, the physical backwashing recovery rate were less than 28.6%. The (B) Coag./Floc. - Sedi. combined process with 4 mg / L of A-PAC showed that the transmembrane pressure increased to within 6 kPa, the physical backwashing recovery rate was over 37.9 % higher than (A) Filtration process. (C) Coag./Floc. combined process showed an increase of transmembrane pressure compared with (B) Coag./Floc. - Sedi. combined process, physical backwashing recovery rate was over 84%. As a result of the membrane fouling analysis using the resistance in series model, the combined pretreatment process showed that the cake resistance (Rc) was more than 92% at membrane filtration flux of $2m^3/m^2{\cdot}d$. In the (C) Coag./Floc. combined process, cake resistance(Rc) was over 86% on high flux conditions. The coagulation floc contained in influent was removed by the membrane, and the cake layer formed with the removed floc was identified as reversible fouling resistance which could be recovered by physical backwashing. The decentralized water supply system, which has the limitation of site area and installation space, is considered to could be operation of high flux of ceramic membrane by applying (C) Coag./Floc. combined process without sedimentation process.

전해수를 이용한 견섬유 정련 및 세리신 회수(II)-분리막에 의한 세리신 농축을 중심으로- (The Degumming and Sericin Recovery of the Silk fabric Using the Electrolytic Water(II))

  • In this work, Aqueous sericin solution was prepared by degumming process with electrolytic reduction water. Then, the microfiltration and ultrafiltration systems were applied to the concentration of aqueous sericin solution. The objective of this study was to select the optimum operating condition among the different pressure. The permeate flux and rejection ratio were observed with time, pressure, flow rate and concentration. and, the wastewater and permeated water quality values such as pH, BOD, COD, and NH levels were measured. In order to see the influence of electrolytic reduction water, the flux of pure water and electrolytic reduction water by PVDF22(MF) and PS100(UF) membrane was measured. In microfiltration system, the relative flux reduction decreased rapidly to 0.02 in the 30min, as the concentration polarization and gel layer formation were increased. and then the sericin concentration rejection ratio was 40%. In ultrafiltration system, the permeate flux decreased with time and concentration, and increased with the operating pressure and flow rate. Optimal condition in PS100 membrane system for sericin concentration was operating pressure 1.464kgf/$cm^24, operating flow rate $7\ell/min at\; 40^{\circ}C$. At that time, sericin concentration rejection ratio was 83% respectably. The sericin solution was concentrated from 0.1wt% solution to 0.2 wt % solution during about 2 hrs by the UF filteration membrane system.

Evaluation of the efficiency of cleaning method in direct contact membrane distillation of digested livestock wastewater

  • This study investigated effects of physical and chemical cleaning methods on the initial flux recovery of fouled membrane in membrane distillation process. A laboratory scale direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) experiment was performed to treat digested livestock wastewater with 3.89 mg/L suspended solids, 874.7 mg/L COD, 543.7 mg/L nitrogen, 15.6 mg/L total phosphorus, and pH of 8.6. A hydrophobic PVDF membrane with an average pore size of $0.22{\mu}m$ and a porosity of 75 % was installed inside a direct contact type membrane distillation module. The temperature difference between feed and permeate side was maintained at $40^{\circ}C$ with the feed and permeate stream velocity of 0.18 m/s. The results showed that the permeate flux decreased from $22.1L{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}hr^{-1}$ to $19.0L{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}hr^{-1}$ after 75 hours of distillation. The fouled membrane was cleaned first by physical flushing and consecutively by chemicals with NaOCl and citric acid. After the physical cleaning the flux was recovered to 92 % as compared with the initial clean water flux of the virgin membrane. Then 94 % of the flux was recovered after cleaning by 2,000 ppm NaOCl for 90 minutes and finally 97 % of flux recovered after 3 % citric acid for 90 minutes. SEM-EDS and FT-IR analysis results presented that the foulants on the membrane surface were removed effectively after each cleaning step. The contact angle measurement showed that the hydrophobicity of the membrane surface was also restored gradually after each cleaning step to reach nearly the same hydrophobicity level as the virgin membrane.

역삼투막 공정을 이용한 사과쥬스의 효율적인 농축공정에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Efficient Concentration Process of Apple Juice with Reverse Osmosis Process)

  • 최근 효과적인 분리와 에너지 절약을 위한 분리공정의 첨단기술로 등장한 방법은 고분자 분리막을 이용한 막분리 기술이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 청정한 사과쥬스를 역삼투 공정을 이용하여, 막의 특성, 공정압력, 온도, 유량 등의 변화에 따른 농도변화 및 투과유속을 측정하여 예측모델식을 수립하고, 품질변화 분석에 관하여 실험한 바 그 결과는 다음과 같았다. 일반적으로 역삼투공정 동안 쥬스농도가 증가할수록 삼투압이 증가하여 투과유속이 감소하는 경향을 나타냈으며, 온도, 유량의 변화에 따른 투과액 속도는 큰 변화가 없었으나 압력에 따른 투과액 속도는 전형적으로 증가함을 보였다. 따라서 투과유속을 높이는 요인으로는 공정압력, 온도, 공급유량의 순이었다. 투과액 유속예측 모델식은 $SPSS^x$ computer program을 이용하여 가장 오차가 적은 범위에서 최종적인 예측 모델식을 얻었다. 압력변화에 따른 당, 향기성분의 변화는 당의 경우 각 압력차에 따라 큰 차이가 없이 평균 93.8%의 회수율을 보였으며 향기성분의 경우 압력이 높을수록 회수율이 증가함을 보였다.

십자형 응집-UF 막분리 공정 적용시 전처리 응집조건에 따른 막오염 메카니즘 규명 (The Evaluation of Fouling Mechanism on Cross Flow Precoagulation-UF Process)

  • 십자형 응집-한외여과 막분리 공정 운전시 응집조건에 따른 영향을 살펴보면 급속교반-UF 공정과 응집-침전-UF 공정에서 투과 flux의 변화는 크게 나타나지 않았으며 UF막의 막오염 억제 측면에서는 응집전처리공정으로서 1분간의 짧은 급속혼화만으로도 충분한 것으로 나타났다. 교반강도에 따른 투과 flux의 변화결과 교반강도에 따라 형성되는 floc의 크기가 거의 유사하게 형성되어 교반강도에 따른 영향은 나타나지 않았다. 응집제 주입량에 따른 투과 flux변화를 살펴보면 응집제 주입량이 증가함에 따라 유기물의 제거가 크게 일어나 유기물 부하의 감소와 floc의 크기가 증가함에 따라 다공성 케이크층의 형성에 따른 막저항의 감소로 인하여 투과 flux가 향상되었다. 막의 재질과 전처리 응집공정적용에 따른 여과메카니즘 분석결과 막의 재질에 따라서는 친수성 재질의 막에 비하여 소수성 재질의 막의 경우 막의 공극속으로 입자의 침투가 발생하여 침적 흡착되는 현상과 막의 표면에서 형성되는 cake층에 의한 투과 flux 감소가 주원인이 되었으며 응집공정을 전처리공정으로 적용시 UF단독공정에 비하여 막오염 발생이 저감되었다.

Surface properties and interception behaviors of GO-TiO2 modified PVDF hollow fiber membrane

  • To investigate surface properties and interception performances of the new modified PVDF membrane coated with Graphene Oxide (GO) and nano-$TiO_2$ (for short the modified membrane) via the interface polymerization method combined with the pumping suction filtration way, filtration experiments of the modified membrane on Humic Acid (HA) were conducted. Results showed that the contact angle (characterizing the hydrophilicity) of the modified membrane decreased from $80.6{\pm}1.8^{\circ}$ to $38.6{\pm}1.2^{\circ}$. The F element of PVDF membrane surface decreased from 60.91% to 17.79% after covered with GO and $TiO_2$. O/C element mass ratio has a fivefold increase, the percentage of O element on the modified membrane surface increased from 3.83 wt% to 20.87%. The modified membrane surface was packed with hydrophilic polar groups (like -COOH, -OH, C-O, C=O, N-H) and a functional hydrophilic GO-polyamide-$TiO_2$ composite configuration. This configuration provided a rigid network structure for the firm attachment of GO and $TiO_2$ on the surface of the membrane and for a higher flux as well. The total flux attenuation rate of the modified membrane decreased to 35.6% while 51.2% for the original one. The irreversible attenuation rate has dropped 71%. The static interception amount of HA on the modified membrane was $158.6mg/m^2$, a half of that of the original one ($295.0mg/m^2$). The flux recovery rate was increased by 50%. The interception rate of the modified membrane on HA increased by 12% approximately and its filtration cycle was 2-3 times of that of the original membrane.
