In wireless sensor networks, fair allocation of bandwidth among different nodes is one of the critical problems that effects the serviceability of the entire system. Fair bandwidth allocation mechanisms, like fair queuing, usually need to maintain state, manage buffers, and perform packet scheduling on a per flow basis, and this complexity may prevent them from being cost-effectively implemented and widely deployed. It is a very important and difficult technical issue to provide packet scheduling architecture for fairness in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we propose an packet scheduling architecture for sensor node, called FISN (Fairness Improvement Sensor Network), that significantly reduces this implementation complexity yet still achieves approximately fair bandwidth allocations. Sensor node for sensing estimate the incoming rate of each sensor device and insert a label into each transmission packet header based on this estimate. Sensor node for forwarding maintain no per flow state; they use FIFO packet scheduling augmented by a probabilistic dropping algorithm that uses the packet labels and an estimate of the aggregate traffic at the gathering node. We present the detailed design, implementation, and evaluation of FISN using simulation. We discuss the fairness improvement and practical engineering challenges of implementing FISN in an experimental sensor network test bed based on ns-2.

Measurement of flow rate is required in various fields. Water meters are often used at home, and flow meters are used in water and sewage plants, petrochemical industries and so on.. A system is needed to monitor the flow rate in real time and notify immediately when flow rate is abnormal. Recently, with the development of the IoT it is possible to construct such devices at low cost. WeMos can be programmed with Arduino IDE as a mini wifii IoT module. The flow sensor can output a digital pulse proportional to the flow rate. In this paper, we developed the flow monitoring and warning system using WeMos and IoT technology. When the system operates, it calculates the flow rate, sends the value as JSON format to the server, monitors the flow rate as graph from the remote with the smartphone. We also implement the system to promptly send alert message to the smart phone using Pushbullet when the flow rate is abnormal.

A method to determine quinine in aqueous solution by chemiluminescence method using a stopped flow system has been studied. The method is based on the increased chemiluminescence intensity with the addition of quinine to a solution of lucigenin and hydrogen peroxide. The effects of KOH concentration, flow rate of reagents, $H_{2}O_{2}$ concentration used for the masking of quinine on the chemiluminescence intensity have been investigated. The calibration curve for quinine was linear over the range from $1.0{\times}10^{-7}$ M to $1.0{\times}10^{-3}$ M, coefficient of correlation was 0.993 and the detection limit was $3.0{\times}10^{-8}$ M under the optimal experimental conditions of 1.0 M, 1.5 M, 3.0 mL/min for the concentration of $H_{2}O_{2}$, KOH and flow rate of reagents, respectively.

Numerical simulations are conducted for the design of a micro thermal mass air flow sensor (MAFS), which consists of a microfabricated heater and thermopiles on the silicon-nitride ($Si_3N_4$) thin membrane structure. It is important to find the proper locations of these thermal elements in the design of MAFS with improved sensitivity. Three heating modes of the micro-heater are considered: constant temperature, constant power and heating pulses. The analyses are focused on the membrane temperature profile near the sensing section. Considered are the practical flow velocities, ranging from 3 m/s to 35 m/s, and the corresponding Reynolds numbers from 1000 to 10000. The results show that one of optimum sensing locations is about $100{\mu}m$ away from the microheater. It is concluded that the heating mode and configurations of thermal elements are the main factors for the MAFS with higher sensitivity.
Polydiacetylene (PDA) is chemosensor materials that exhibit non-fluorescent-to-fluorescent transition as well as blue-to-red visible color change upon chemical or thermal stress. They have been studied in forms of film or microarray chip, so far. In this paper, we provide a novel technique to fabricate continuous micro-fiber PDA sensor using in-situ laser-polymerization technique and 3-D hydrodynamic focusing on a microfluidic chip. The flow of a monomer solution with diacetylene (DA) monomer is focused by a sheath flow on a 3-D microfluidic chip. The focused flow is exposed to 365 nm UV laser beam for in-situ polymerization which generates a continuous fiber containing DA monomers. Then, the fiber is exposed to 254 nm UV light to polymerize DA monomers to PDA. Preliminary results indicate that the fiber size can be controlled by the flow rates of the monomer solution and sheath flows and that a PDA sensor fiber successively responds to chemical and thermal stress.

Flow mechanism around air flow sensor of electronic control engine, especially Karman vortex type, was investigated experimentally. The two-dimensional flow characteristics in the intermediate wake region behind a triangular vortex-generator respectively apex forward facing, apex backward facing and vertical flat plates following after apex forward facing(i.e vortex-flowmeter) were investigated at Reynolods number of $ReH=1.4\times10^4$; H is the width of a triangular vortex-generator. The vortex shedding frequency for wide Reynolds number from $7\times10^3$ to $2.1\times10^4$ was also surveyed. The velocity component was measured by X-type hot wire anemometer at 8H downstream from the bluff body. The coherent structure of the intermediate wake behind a bluff body was obtained by conditional phase average technique. As a result, it was verified that the vertical flat plates following after apex forward triangular vortex-generator make not only more linear relation between free stream velocity and vortex shedding frequency but also more periodic vortex in the vicinity of the center of wake.
In this paper, we fabricated pressure difference type gas flow sensor using only dry etching technology by ICP-RIE(inductive coupled plasma reactive ion etching). The sensor's structure consists of a common shear stress type piezoresistive pressure sensor with an orifice fabricated in the middle of the sensor diaphragm. Generally, structure like diaphragm is fabricated by wet etching technology using TMAH, but we fabricated diaphragm by only dry etching using ICP-RIE. To equalize the thickness of diaphragm we applied insulator($SiO_2$) layer of SOI(Si/$SiO_2$/Si-sub) wafer as delay layer of dry etching. Size of fabricated diaphragm is $1000{\times}1000{\times}7\;{\mu}m^3$ and overall chip $3000{\times}3000{\times}7\;{\mu}m^3$. We measured the variation of output voltage toward the change of gas pressure to analyze characteristics of the fabricated sensor. Sensitivity of fabricated sensor was relatively high as about 1.5mV/V kPa at 1kPa full-scale. Nonlinearity was below 0.5%F.S. Over-pressure range of the fabricated sensor is 100kPa or more.

This paper describes the characteristics of Pt microheater using aluminum oxide films as medium layer and its application to flow sensors. Pt microheater have heating temperature of $390^{\circ}C$ at heating power of 1.2 W. Output voltages of flow sensors which were fabricated by integrating sensing-part with heating-part increase as gas flow rate and its conductivity increase. At $O_2$ flow rate of 2000 sccm, heating power of 0.8 W, output voltage of flow sensor is 101 mV under bridge-applied voltage of 5 V.

Cavity pressure is a factor of what is occurring inside the mold and is used as one of the process parameters that control the overall injection molding cycle. The insight of cavity pressure is able to predict part quality and optimum process condition. In this paper, it is adapted ejector pin sensor to measure the cavity pressure and investigates the flow balance and the cavity pressure according to different runner thickness for adjusting the flow balance. Flow balance is very important to have not the poor results such as flash and warpage in the family mold. This paper predicted flow balance and cavity pressure using CAE analysis tool and compared with the test results. The results of analysis and test have a good agreement with the cavity pressure profile and flow pattern of the test.
