탄화수소계 고분자-실리카 복합막이 적용된 연료전지 스택 성능평가 (Characterization of Fuel Cell Stack Using Hydrocarbon Polymer-Silica Composite Membranes)

  • 본 연구에서는 실리카 복합막 기반 고분자 전해질막을 5단 연료전지 스택에 적용하여 성능 평가를 수행하였다. 이를 통하여, 개별 구성 요소의 성능도 중요하지만, 전체적인 관점에서 공급되는 연료의 유량이 스택 성능에 중요한 역할을 하며, 특히 수소의 유량에 크게 의존한다는 사실이 확인하였다. 산소의 유량을 증가시켜도 성능의 변화는 미미한 반면, 수소의 유량을 증가시키면 성능이 향상되는 것을 확인하였다. 그러나 수소의 유량 증가는 수소와 산소 유량 비율의 불균형을 초래하여 장기적으로는 스택 성능과 내구성을 저하시키는 문제가 관찰되었다. 이러한 현상을 스택 구성 요소 및 개별 단위 셀에서도 관찰할 수 있었으며, 따라서 스택 운전 시 각 구성 요소의 성능을 최적화하는 것 외에도 균일한 유량 제어를 위해 유로 설계 및 운전 조건을 최적화하는 것이 중요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 실리카 복합막은 최대 출력 기준 25 W 이상의 성능을 나타내어 실제 연료전지 시스템에 적용하기에 충분한 성능을 갖춘 것으로 판단된다.

액적충돌침식으로 인한 배관감육 예측체계 구축에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Prediction System for Pipe Wall Thinning Caused by Liquid Droplet Impingement Erosion)

  • The most common pipe wall thinning degradation mechanisms that can occur in the steam and feedwater systems are FAC (Flow Acceleration Corrosion), cavitation, flashing, and LDIE (Liquid Droplet Impingement Erosion). Among those degradation mechanisms, FAC has been investigated by many laboratories and industries. Cavitation and flashing are also protected on the piping design phase. LDIE has mainly investigated in aviation industry and turbine blade manufactures. On the other hand, LDIE has been little studied in NPP (Nuclear Power Plant) industry. This paper presents the development of prediction system for pipe wall thinning caused by LDIE in terms of erosion rate based on air-water ratio and material. Experiment is conducted in 3 cases of air-water ratio 0.79, 1.00, and 1.72 using the three types of the materials of A106B, SS400, and A6061. The main control parameter is the air-water ratio which is defined as the volumetric ratio of water to air (0.79, 1.00, 1.72). The experiments were performed for 15 days, and the surface morphology and hardness of the materials were examined for every 5 days. Since the spraying velocity (v) of liquid droplets and their contact area ($A_c$) on specimens are changed according to the air-water ratio, we analyzed the behavior of LDIE for the materials. Finally, the prediction equations(i.e. erosion rate) for LDIE of the materials were determined in the range of the air-water ratio from 0 to 2%.

Study on the effect of flow blockage due to rod deformation in QUENCH experiment

  • During a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) in the pressurized water reactor (PWR), there is a possibility that high temperature and internal pressure of the fuel rods lead to ballooning of the cladding, which causes a partial blockage of flow area in a subchannel. Such flow blockage would influence the core coolant flow, thus affecting the core heat transfer during a reflooding phase and subsequent severe accident. However, most of the system analysis codes simulate the accident process based on the assumed channel blockage ratio, resulting in the fact that the simulation results are not consistent with the actual situation. This paper integrates the developed core Fuel Rod Thermal-Mechanical Behavior analysis (FRTMB) module into the self-developed severe accident analysis code ISAA. At the same time, the existing flow blockage model is improved to make it possible to simulate the change of flow distribution due to fuel rod deformation. Finally, the ISAA-FRTMB is used to simulate the QUENCH-LOCA-0 experiment to verify the correctness and effectiveness of the improved flow blockage model, and then the effect of clad ballooning on core heat transfer and subsequent parts of core degradation is analyzed.

Effect of Non-starch Polysaccharides on Mucin Secretion and Endogenous Amino Acid Losses in Pigs

  • This study was undertaken to examine the influence of soluble non-starch polysaccharides on growth performance, mucin secretion, and endogenous amino acid flows in weaner pigs. Different levels (0, 4 and 7.5%) of purified corn arabinoxylan (AX) or barley $\beta$-glucan extract (BG) were substituted for cellulose in a purified diet based on starch, sucrose and enzymatically hydrolyzed casein. All diets contained titanium oxide as an indigestible marker. Each experimental diet was fed to five, 6-wk old weaner pigs for 21 days. Average daily gain (p<0.05) and feed conversion ratio (p<0.01) were improved with dietary inclusion of 7.5% AX and BG, indicating high degradation rates of AX and BG in pigs. Crude mucin contents and endogenous nitrogen flow were increased (p<0.05) with increased levels of AX, but not with BG. Numerical increases in endogenous amino acid flow (EAAF) were observed with increased levels of AX but no definite trend with BG. Endogenous amino acid flow in pigs fed mixed NSP diets (4% BG and 3.5% cellulose) was significantly higher (p<0.05) than those fed 7.5% BG diets. Among diets containing pure sources of soluble non-starch polysaccharides, endogenous amino acid flows were highest in 7.5% AX (p<0.05), intermediate in BG, and lowest in control diet. Increased flows (p<0.01) of threonine, proline and serine in pigs fed 7.5% AX diets are consistent with the increased flow of crude mucin determined in this treatment. In conclusion, mucin and endogenous amino acid flows were increased with dietary inclusion of AX, which could be related to its physicochemical property, particularly its high water-holding capacity. In contrast, $\beta$-glucan, due to its high degradation rate in pig, may be considered as unimportant factor in inducing mucin and endogenous amino acid secretions, at least at levels such as those used in this study.

  • A device that consists of an array of hydrofoils (called a vane deployer) is widely used in ocean engineering. In general, the vane deployer has to spread out efficiently, which is possible by enhancing the lift-to-drag ratio. In the present study, using a computational fluid dynamics, we investigate the effect of hydrofoil arrangement on the lift-to-drag ratio to establish the condition in which a reasonable level of constant lift-to-drag ratio is achieved in a wide range of angle of attack, to avoid a degradation of the hydrodynamic performance. First, the flow around two-dimensional hydrofoil array is examined by varying the size of hydrofoil components, gap between the hydrofoils, and arrangement type. As a result, we determine the optimized hydrofoil array configuration whose lift-to-drag ratio is nearly independent on the angle of attack. Finally, a three-dimensional simulation is performed for the optimized geometry to estimate the performance of actual vane deployer.

  • The battery pack, a main component of NEV(Neighborhood Electric Vehicle), needs cooling system when it is charging or discharging to prevent the degradation of the battery charging efficiency. The purpose of this study is to analyse the effects of cooling methods, changing positions of inlet and outlet and changing area ratios of inlet and outlet. It has been observed that in the point of uniform cooling suction from the exit side is more efficient than blowing from the inlet. And there is a suitable inlet/outlet area ratio in maximizing the mass flow rate. The numerical analyse using a commercial code STAR-CCM+ version 4.02 were used for the study.

가스터빈의 설계 성능과 부분부하 성능 사이의 상관관계 분석 (Analysis of Relationship Between Design and Part Load Performance of Gas Turbines)

  • This study analyzed the dependence of part load performance of simple cycle gas turbines on their design performance. Various parametric calculations were carried out to examine effects of design temperature ratio, pressure ratio and component efficiencies using a simplified analysis. In addition, a more practical analysis was done for realistic design conditions with the aid of a comprehensive performance analysis program. The results show that gas turbines with higher design performance exhibit less efficiency degradation during part load operation. The influence of power control method (fuel only centre) and air flow control) on part load performance was examined as well.

미결정 FeZrN 박막의 자기특성 및 내식성에 미치는 Cr 첨가 효과 (Effects of Cr Addition on the Magnetic Properties and Corrosion Resistance of Nanocrystalline FeZrN Thin Films)

  • 스퍼터방식으로 제조한 FeZrCrN 미결정박막의 질소 유입량의 변화와 Cr 첨가량 변화에 따라 연자기특성과 내반응성 및 내식성을 조사하였다. 질소 유립량 증가에 따라 포화자속밀도는 감소하고 적 절한량(질소 유입량 3%)의 질소가 유입 되었을 때 열처리후에도 이방성 분산 감소효과 등에 의하여 우수 한 연자기특성이 출현 하였으며, 이때 보자력은 0.4 Oe, 투자율은 5 MHz에서 2600 정도를 나타내었다. FeZrN 박막에 Cr을 7.5 at.% 정도 첨가하였을때 포화자속밀도는 12.5kg까지 감소하였지만 양호한 연자기 특성이 그대로 유지되었고 Cr 첨가에 의해 현저한 내식성의 향상과 집합 glass와의 내반응성의 개선이 있었다.

유류 오염 토양에서 분리된 Rhodococcus fascians 를 이용한 토양 column에서의 JP-8의 분해 (Biodegradation of JP-8 in soil column by Rhodococcus fascians isolated from petroleum contaminated soil)

  • 본 실험에 사용된 균주는 유류에서 오염된 지역의 토양 시료로부터 직접 분리 하였는데, 이를 액체 배지에서의 성능 시험을 통해 효과를 확인 후 토양 column에 적용하였다. 토양 column에서의 JP-8 분해는 통기에 의한 자연적인 분해와 미생물에 의해 분해되는 것으로 나뉠 수 있다. 토양 내에 접종된 Rhodococcus fascians이 통기를 시키지 않을 경우에도 토양중의 JP-8의 농도가 감소하여 R. fascians의 JP-8 분해가 통기에 상관없이 이루어지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 통기를 시킬 경우 R. fascians를 접종한 경우에 토양중의 JP-8의 70%가 분해되었다. 토양에서 R. fascians의 생장에 작용할 수 있는 질소원을 첨가한 경우 JP-8의 분해율이 75%로 증가하였다. R. fascians에 의한 JP-8의 분해는 세포의 생장과 밀접하게 관련이 있어서 JP-8의 분해율 향상을 위해서는 R. fascians의 증가가 중요함을 알 수 있었다.
