A Study on Low-Floor Bus Routes Selection - Focused on the Case of Jeollabuk-Do - (저상버스 노선선정 방안에 관한 연구 -전라북도 사례를 중심으로-)

  • Approaching to aging society with increasing transportation vulnerable, most developed countries has positively promote low-floor bus. Such circumstance in Korea has plan to introduce low-floor bus to intra-city bus system which accounted for 30 percent of total number of buses however there is no specific operating plan for this matter. According to the revealed preference study on bus service, the study shows that the efficiency of low-floor is relatively low than that of other buses, therefore, it is necessary to establish feasible plan for bus route selection. Thus, this study is to conduct research on analyzing trip characteristics of transportation vulnerable and establish bus route selection measures for low-floor bus. The result from the survey in Jeollabuk-do Province reveals that the trip purpose of transportation vulnerable is mainly for welfare and medical service, which was made less than 6 times a week. Futhermore, 37.6 percent of transportation vulnerable use buses, thus, it is essential to improve its service quality for enhancing user's convenience and safety. In that transportation vulnerable O-D needs to be established and forecasts future demand for selecting optimal bus route. According to the estimation, route passing through densely populated areas with transportation vulnerable should take the first priority, city circular and other route would be next. Moreover, it is economically efficient that areas populated more than 200,000 with fixed route and less than 200,000 with limited route responsive to demands would be feasible plans. This study will have greater an impact on transportation planning and further research on transportation vulnerable.

A Study on the Housing Competition Promoted by Cho-Sun Architectural Engineering Group in 1946 (1946년 조선건축기술단 주최 국민주택 설계도안 현상모집의 재고찰)

  • This study examined details and characteristics of prizewinning plans of housing competition promoted by korean architects group in 1946. The competition were held for the first since Liberation of Korea, and had practical purpose to construct houses to solve severe shortage of housing. This study found common trends of housing plan by prizewinning architects, analyzing architectural characteristics of prizewinning plans. Architects pursued western style living for renewed living conditions of people, planning precedent houses to put reception room at the heart of dwelling spaces and centralize them using entrance hall or corridor for traffic lines. Also, they arranged reception room and family room facing to the south and placed lavatory or bathroom inside of houses for hygiene. Kitchens were finished with wooden floor to keep same level of reception room and equipped with sink, kitchen table, pantry for convenient housekeeping. The result of competition become a basis of constructing houses by housing administration in 1947, and more important foundation for planning typical public houses of national housing corporation.

A Study on the Spatial Configuration of Internal Functions of Public Area in City Hotels - Focusing on middle size first-class hotels in Korea and Japan - (도시 호텔 공용부문에 나타난 내부기능구성형식에 관한 연구 - 한국과 일본의 중규모 특급호텔을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is focused on defining the types of spatial configuration of internal functions in city hotels by researching and analyzing city hotels in Korea and Japan. The scope of this study is limited to the period of early 1980's to the end of 1990's and 18 city hotels in Korea and Japan are selected as subject. Researching existing records and analyzing plans, surveys are used as the method of the study. The result of this study is as follow. First, block composition of floor plans that is used for hotel construction could be divided into three types (immanent type-6hotels, combined type-7hotels, adjacent type-4hotels). Second, the result of analysis about the internal functions and structural types of public area in city hotels is as follow. More Korean city hotels are taking concourse type (Korea 77.8%, Japan 55.6%) and hall type (Korea 22.2%, Japan 11.1%) than Japanese city hotels. However, the mixed type (concourse type +hall type) is only used in Japan (Korea 0%, Japan 33.3%). Third, as the result of the comparison of the size of public area between Korea and Japan, Korean hotels (36.70%) have larger space than Japanese hotels only in the service area. public (Korea 33.98% < Japan 34.71%), business (Korea 27.68% Japan 31.41%)and empty (Korea 1.64% < Japan 6.13%) area is taking larger space in Japanese city hotels than Korean.

Surveying the preferences of new generation of seniors for retirement housing and exploring future directions (신노년세대의 시니어 주거에 대한 선호조사와 미래 방향 고찰)

  • Purpose: This study is to analyze the preferences for future senior housing that reflects the characteristics of the new generation of seniors and to consider the direction of future senior housing. Methods: Data from an online survey of a new generation of older adults and group interviews with professionals and baby boomers were analyzed. The data collected from the survey and interview have been using quantitative analysed method. Literature surveys also have been carried out. Results: The results show that future senior housing requires a change in perception through conceptual expansion from the Aging in Place (AIP) to the Aging in Community (AIC) paradigm. The preferences of the new generation of seniors for future senior housing were examined to determine their preferences for location, facility size and type, unit floor plans and services, and living costs. Implications: The direction of senior housing services and architectual plans for seniors aged 55 to 65 years old were discussed.

  • An impeller is a type of high-speed rotor that is used to compress or transfer fluid under high-speed and pressure at high temperatures. The impeller is composed of an axial hub and several blades attached along the hub. The weight and shape of an impeller must be balanced, because their imbalances can cause noise and vibration, which can lead to the breakage of the impeller blades during operation. Thus, the hub and blades of an impeller are commonly machined in a 5-axis NC machine to obtain qualified surfaces. The impeller machining strategy or process plan can not be easily obtained due to the complex, overlapped and twisted shapes of impeller blades. Skillful machining process planners may generate appropriate machining strategies based on their experiences and floor data. However, in practice most shop floor data for the impeller machining is not well-structured such that it does not effectively provide a process planner with information for machining strategies and/or process plans. This paper reports the development of a case-based machining strategy support system (CBMS) that employs case-based reasoning to obtain the machining strategy of an impeller by using the existing machining strategies of the shop floor. The CBMS generates impeller machining strategies through a stepwise reasoning process considering the similarity features between the blade shapes and machining regions. A case study is provided to demonstrate that CBMS can generate useful machining strategies facilitating process planners. The developed system can simulate the tool paths of impeller machining and runs on the web.

  • Purpose: Design inducement incentive item and formula on permitted floor area ratio in district detailed plan have been improved to reflect the actual application of guidelines and the social needs of city and architecture. However, the current guideline has a limit to realize the purpose of the plan. This study proposes improvement of the items and parameters in formula. Method: This study analyzed the district detailed planning guidelines since 2000 and the cases of general type district unit plan. In order to propose improved items and parameters, planing purposes and present parameters were compared and analyzed. Result: Items of guidelines have been changed according to public needs. High necessity items were applied to large parameters, and these items have been changed as the guideline changes. Diversity of items depended on regional characteristics, and parameters were more flexible than items for most cases. The purposes of plans, parameters and items were analyzed and it revealed four items needed improvement; the inducement of the limited building line, the improvement of the pedestrian and street environment, the necessity of the open space, and strengthening of the regional agreement. For improvement, this study added items and improved the relevance between items and sub-items. The parameters were improved by considering the importance, feasibility and comparing them with each other. Simulated result confirmed that proposed guideline is appropriate to operate, and also characteristics of area encourage to operate it more flexible.

  • This study discusses the conceptual definition of a balcony and the emergence of basic-type and expansion-type floor plans according to the balcony utilization. In addition, the change in building density is analyzed with regard to real cases, and base data are offered for future urban policies in Incheon Metropolitan City. The context of the Building Acts could be understood through the analysis of various balcony definitions and characteristics, and the analysis was divided into basic and extension types according to the legalization that occurred in 2005. The issue of density according to balcony expansion is discussed through theories, and a planned attempt at density management in the target area is investigated. The building area, floor area, and floor area ratio are discussed with regard to the target area, and the density management is empirically proven, which is different from the Unit Plan.

  • Road traffic noise has increasing broader effects on urban areas as well as rural areas because of rapidly increasing traffic volume and newly-constructed roads. 10 sites in building development areas were selected and the noise level were measured by the apartment floors and by the various block plans of apartment complex. Analysis result, about correction factor, in the case of right angle arrangement, apply - 2.5dB(A). In the case of apartment house correlation of each floor apply 1st floors 0dB(A), 2st floors 1.2dB(A), 3st floors 2.1dB(A), 4st floors 2.6dB(A), 5st floors 2.7dB(A), 6st floors 2.7dB(A), 7st floors 2.4dB(A), 8st floors 2.0dB(A), 9st floors 1.6dB(A), 10st floors 1.1dB(A), 13st floors 0.2dB(A), 15st floors 0.5dB(A). The level of road traffic noise in the arrangement construction of right angle was about 3.0dB(A) at N-4 point and 2.1dB(A) at N-6 point lower than that of a plan figure, respectively. The results suggested that application of correction coefficient obtained by the apartment floor and by the arrangement construction can be improved in road traffic noise. A Study on the Plane Spatial Characteristics of Modern Samurai Houses in Izumi Fumoto Village, Kagoshima, Japan (일본 가고시마 이즈미 후모토 마을의 근세 무사주택의 평면공간특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to analyze the spatial characteristics of a group of samurai residences among other traditional Japanese villages and to accumulate the village-level sample data of a residential group, which can serve as the foundation for a wide range of discussions. Using data that had been gathered since 1989, this study draw up a prototype floor plans to analyze the indoor spatial features of the residences in the modern period, and sampled 35 samurai houses. The following are the results of this study. The general characteristics of traditional Japanese houses were found among many Izumi Fumoto samurai residences up until the early Meiji period. However, after gradually the floor plan became more and more simplified; connections between rooms were reduced, decreasing their flexibility; and there was a rise in the number of houses with a larger area devoted to the Nando, a room for women and family members. The access of a visitor involved changes in one's eye-level view and established physical and psychological boundaries, which this study conjectures was used as a method to ensure that the visitor recognized the authority of the patriarch and to raise the family's reputation. As their floor plan was simplified, Izumi Fumoto samurai houses established one's eye view, boundaries, and procedures as a way to enhance the authority of the man of the family and the family's reputation. In addition, while there was an increasing number of residences that expanded the area of the Nando, in which family members slept and used the space in a stable way, they maintained the exclusivity of private space and did not clearly show who would use it.

  • Since the 1960s, the Korean Peninsula, which consists of 77.4 of the country's land and mountains, has seen a surge in demand for buildings due to population concentration due to urbanization and industrialization. Since then, the development of slopes has been inevitable due to the concentration and expansion of the city's population. When building a building on a slope, it is important to set the height of the surface. In this case, the means of regulating buildings in construction-related laws, such as the building closure ratio, floor area ratio, number of floors and total floor area of buildings, have an overall effect on buildings through the height of the surface. In the Korean Building Act, the setting of the height of the ground affects the calculation of the building height limit standard and the calculation of the underground floor, and it takes a long time to calculate. Therefore, the time required for attempts to change various design plans of buildings increases. The purpose of this study is to speed up the time required to calculate the weighted average of the surface when constructing buildings on slopes. In addition, the existing calculation process allows various design attempts compared to the same time given.
