  • The gaze-based input provides feedback to confirm that the typing is correct when the user types the text. Many studies have already demonstrated that feedback can increase the usability of gaze-based inputs. However, because the information of the typed text is revealed through feedback, it can be a target for shoulder-surfing attacks. Appropriate feedback needs to be used to improve security without compromising the usability of the gaze-based input using the original feedback. In this paper, we propose a new gaze-based input method, FFI(Fake Flickering Interface), to resist shoulder-surfing attacks. Through experiments and questionnaires, we evaluated the usability and security of the FFI compared to the gaze-based input using the original feedback.

  • This paper proposes a method for detecting automatically a smartphone camera in order to put a security stickers and detecting security sickers to recognize whether the removable security sticker or not. The method reduce the time that a person put a security stickers and check the stickers whether the removable stickers at rush hour. It is significantly low to detect rate if the image quality is poor low by LED light flickering phenomenon at the time of the camera detection of the smartphone. Therefor, in this paper, it implement the method that detecting camera to inspect frequently degree after applying the adaptive threshold. Further, in order to recognize whether the removable security sticker or not implement the sticker region detection method using a color filter. The proposed method could increase detecting ratio than earlier methods with LED light flickering phenomenon. In addition, it was also high security sticker detection ratio.

  • Multi-Function Display (MFD) of Korean Utility Helicopter (KUH) displays image information(navigation, flight, topographical and maintenance information) delivered from Mission Computer (MC) during flight operation. The abnormal display of MFD such as flickering phenomenon was identified in the system development. It was solved by improving the shielding performance of the DVI cable and changing the DVI cable installation path at the first mass production. However, it was occurred again when the aircraft was operated for one or two years after delivery. It was also identified in the evaluation process of the derivative helicopters. Therefore, a comprehensive review of the aircraft system level has been performed to solve the problem of MFD malfunction at first and then a design improvement plan was derived by improving the DVI cable. In this paper, the causes of MFD anomalies are analyzed and also the process of design improvement are summarized. The validity of the improvement has been verified through the DVI cable assembly comparison test, SIL/ground/flight test.

  • Steady-state visual evoked potential-based brain-computer interface (SSVEP-BCI) is one of the promising systems that can serve as an alternative input device due to its stable and fast performance. However, one of the major bottlenecks is that some individuals exhibit no or very low SSVEP responses to flickering stimulation, known as SSVEP illiteracy, resulting in low performance on SSVEP-BCIs. However, a lengthy duration is required to enhance multiple SSVEP responses using traditional single-frequency transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS). This research proposes a novel approach using dual-frequency tACS (df-tACS) to potentially enhance SSVEP by targeting the two frequencies with the lowest signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for each participant. Seven participants (five males, average age: 24.42) were exposed to flickering checkerboard stimuli at six frequencies to determine the weakest SNR frequencies. These frequencies were then simultaneously stimulated using df-tACS for 20 minutes, and the experiment was repeated to evaluate changes in SSVEP responses. The results showed that df-tACS effectively enhances the SNR at each targeted frequency, suggesting it can selectively improve target frequency responses. The study supports df-tACS as a more efficient solution for SSVEP illiteracy, proposing further exploration into multi-frequency tACS that could stimulate more than two frequencies, thereby expanding the potential of SSVEP-BCIs.

  • In general the starting current of single phase induction motor is 3 to 6times of the rated current It make flickering an electric lamp, dispersion a TV screen, insulation destructing an electric motor and momentary blazing of house wiring. Thus it happens losing an electric power loss and reducing an efficiency and a life of home electrical apparatus. In this paper, we proposed the method of reducing staring current with 3.7(%) using TRIAC and ACCT(alternated current transformer) in order to improve the above problem And also we verified semipermanent system with using semiconductor element.

  • In this paper, we newly developed a byte-inverted transmission method for flicker-free visible light communication (VLC). The VLC transmitter sends original data in the former half period of the clock, and inverted data and in the latter half period of the clock. The VLC receiver receives the original data in the in the former half period of the clock. In this system, we used 480Hz clock that was generated from the 60Hz power line. The average optical power of the LED array in the transmitter is constant, thus flicker-free, in the observation time longer than the period of the clock that is about 2ms. This period is shorter than the maximum flickering time period (MFTP) of 5ms that is generally considered to be safe. This configuration is very useful in constructing indoor wireless sensor networks using LED light because it is flicker-free and does not require additional transmission channel for clock transmission.

  • In this study, we applied transition-frequency modulation to prevent the flickering of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in visible light communication (VLC). In the VLC transmitter, rectangular waveforms with transition frequencies of four and two in each bit time were used for the high and low bits, respectively, in the non-return-to-zero data. In the VLC receiver, an RC-high-pass filter (HPF) was used to eliminate the interference of the 120 Hz noise light from the adjacent lighting lamps, and an SR-latch circuit was used to recover the transmitted signal using spikes from the output of the RC-HPF. This configuration is useful for constructing VLC systems that are flicker-free and resistant to adjacent noise light interference.
