The cross-section warping due to the passage of high-speed trains can be a relevant issue to consider in the dynamic analysis of bridges due to (i) the usual layout of railway systems, resulting in eccentric moving loads; and (ii) the use of cross-sections prone to warping deformations. A thin-walled beam formulation for the dynamic analysis of bridges including the cross section warping is presented in this paper. Towards a numerical implementation of the beam formulation, a finite element with seven degrees of freedom is proposed. In order to easily consider the compatibility between elements, and since the coupling between flexural and torsional effects occurs in non-symmetric cross-sections due to dynamic effects, a single axis is considered for the element. The coupled flexural-torsional free vibration of thin-walled beams is analysed through the presented beam model, comparing the results with analytical solutions presented in the literature. The dynamic analysis due to an eccentric moving load, which results in a coupled flexural-torsional vibration, is considered in the literature by analytical solutions, being therefore of a limited applicability in practice engineering. In this paper, the dynamic response due to an eccentric moving load is obtained from the proposed finite element beam model that includes warping by a modal analysis.
The present research investigated the interaction among loading level, corrosion rate and flexural deflection of reinforced concrete beams. 10cm$\times$15cm$\times$110cm reinforced concrete beams were prepared and subjected to different levels of flexural loading, including 0%, 45% and 75% of the ultimate load. The beams with either a pre-load or a sustained load were also exposed to a laboratory environment with ponding and wetting/drying cycling at room temperature. Half cell potential and galvanized current measurements were taken to monitor corrosion process of reinforcing steel. After corrosion initiation, external current was applied to some of the beams to accelerate corrosion propagation. The beam deflections were recorded during the entire tests. The results indicate that loading level has significant effect on corrosion rate. The beams under a sustained load had much higher corrosion rate than the pre-loaded and then unloaded beams. Significant corrosion may result in an increase in beam deflection and affect serviceability of the structure. The present research may provide an insight into structural condition evaluation and service life predictions of reinforced concrete.

The reinforced concrete(RC) beam is developed cracks because the compression strength of concrete is strong but the tensile strength is weak. The structural strength and stiffness is decreased by reduction of tension resistance capacity of concrete due to the developed cracks. Using the fiber reinforced concrete that is increased the flexural strength and tensile strength at tensile part can enhance the strength and stiffness of concrete structure and decrease the tensile flexural cracks and deflection. Therefore, The reinforced concrete used the fiber reinforced concrete at tensile part ensure the safety and serviceability of the concrete structures. In this study, analytical model of a dual concrete beam that is composed of the normal strength concrete at compression part and the high tensile strength concrete at tensile part is developed by using the equilibrium condition of forces and compatibility condition of strains and is parted into elastic analytical model and ultimate analytical model. Three group of test beam that is formed of one reinforced concrete beam and two dual concrete beams for each steel reinforcement ratio is tested to examine the flexural behavior of dual concrete beams. The comparative study of total nine test beams is shown that the ultimate load of a dual concrete beams relative to the reinforced concrete beams have an increase in approximately 30%. In addition, the initial flexural rigidity, as used here, refer to the slope of load-deflection curves in elastic state is increased and the deflection is decreased.
Recently, the external prestressed concrete structures are increasingly being built. The mechanical behavior of prestressed concrete beams with external tendon is different from that of normal bonded PSC beams in that the increment of tendon stress was derived by whole member behavior. By this reason, the ultimate stress of external tendon is smaller than that of bonded tendon or internal unbonded tendon. The purposes of the present paper are therefore to improve the mechanical behavior of external unbonded tendon by using partially bonded external tendon and to evaluate the flexural behavior of partially bonded external tendon by the flexural member experiment. From the experimental results, before flexural cracking, there was no difference between external unbonded, partially bonded and bonded tendons. However, after cracking, yielding load of reinforcement, ultimate load, and tendon stress were increased in the sequence of external unbonded, partially bonded and bonded tendon members. The equation of ACI-318 and AASHTO 1994 were not matched with test results and had no correlations. So the newly proposed equation will be needed including the consideration of tendon profile, tendon bonded type, and so on. The proposed partially bonded external tendon in this paper will be a effective basis for the evaluation of external tendons in construction and design.

In this study, flexural tests of granite reinforced with titanium metal rods were carried out to repair and restore the damaged stone-made cultural heritage, the Stone Pagoda of the Mireuksa Temple Site. A total of twelve specimens were tested. The primary test parameters are the reinforcement ratio and the location of the reinforcement. For restoration, epoxy resin was used for joining the separated stones, and titanium metal rods were used for structural reinforcement. Test results showed that the flexural failure took place in specimens with a reinforcement ratio of 0.8% or less, and shear failure occurred when the reinforcement ratio was 1.68% or more. The peak load of the reinforced stone was found to be highly related to the reinforcement ratio. The peak load increased with increasing the reinforcement ratio. Also, the flexural behaviors of the reinforced stones were affected by the location of the reinforcement. Based on the test results, this study recommends the reinforcement ratio of the reinforced granite to induce ductile behavior.

This paper presents a truss model for RC columns subjected to axial load and lateral load. The presented model is based on a stress field for the flexural-shear failure of short columns, which represent shear failure and bond splitting failure. Using this model, failure strength and related deformation of RC columns are investigated. Particular emphasis is placed on models capable of representing the interaction between deformation and shear strength.

This experimental were investigated on the influence of steel fiber reinforcement on flexural behavior characteristics of slabs with various steel fiber contents $V_f$ and aspect ratio($\ell
$/$\phi$). Deflection, crack widths, and strains of steel bar were measured with every load step. In the results of this experimental, the addition of steel fibers to conventionally reinforced concrete slab increased the ultimate load, reduced the creak width, the average crack spacing, and deflection.

This paper deals with the flexural behaviors of R.C beams strengthened by carbon fiber sheets. The behaviors of strengthened beams which were preloaded up to 50%, 60% and 70% of the ultimate load of unstrengthened beam are compared with that of a beam which was not preloaded. The structural behaviors of strengthened beams are compared with analytical method in terms of load-strain of concrete, load-strain of steel bar, load-strain of CFS and falilure load. Four cases of analytical method are investigated according to cracked section or partially cracked section and including strain hardening effect of steel bar or not. Comparing the results of test and analysis, both are similar in terms of load-strain of concrete, and falilure load, the results of analytical method underestimate the failure load. But each results of load-strain of steel bar, load-strain of CFS near at failure is some different, thus near at failure the composite action between CFS and upper concrete is assumed to be disturbed. Consequently, the analytical method was proved to be efficient and accurate in estimating the flexural response of CFS strengthened RC beams.

In this paper, the flexural creep behavior of hooked-end steel fiber reinforced high-strength concrete was evaluated to investigate the steel fiber content influence on long-term behavior of flexural members. An experimental program consisted of nine prismatic beam specimens with dimensions of 150 × 150 × 600mm reinforced with different contents of steel fiber (0, 0.75 and 1.5% at the volume fraction). To introduce flexural creep loading to notched prismatic beam specimens, a four-point bending test setup was used. The sustained load with 40% of the flexural strength was applied by means of a lever system and controlled by a load cell for 90 days. During sustained loading, crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) was monitored. Conventional flexural test after creep tests were carried out to evaluate the residual capacity of each specimen. Test results showed that steel fiber content has a significant effect on the flexural creep behavior of high-strength concrete and long-term flexural load with 40% of flexural strength doesn't generate negative effects on the residual capacity of steel fiber reinforced high-strength concrete.
In this research, the analysis of post-buckling behavior of tapered columns has been performed under a combined load of uniformly distributed axial load along the length and concentric axial load at free end by solving the nonlinear differential equation with the differential transformation technique. The buckling load at various slopes at free end of column is calculated and the results of the analysis using the differential transformation technique is verified with those of previous studies. It is also shown through the results that the buckling load of sinusoidal tapered columns is largest, the linear is second largest, and the parabolic is small in the all ranges of slopes at free end and the deflection of parabolic tapered columns in the x coordinates is largest, the sinusoidal is second largest, and the linear is smallest in the range of slope 0 to 140 degrees at free end. However, when the range of the slope is 160 to 176 degrees at the free end, the deflection of sinusoidal tapered columns in the x coordinates is largest, the linear is second largest, and the parabolic is smallest. In addition, for the linear tapered column, the buckling load increases along with the flexural stiffness ratio. Also, for the parabolic and the sinusoidal tapered column, the buckling loads increase and decrease as the flexural ratios increase in the range of flexural stiffness ratio n = 1.0 to n = 2.0. Through this research, it is verified that the differential transformation technique can be applied to solve the nonlinear differential equation problems, such as analysis of post-buckling behavior of tapered columns. It is also expected that the differential transformation technique apply to various more complicated problems in future.
