To investigate the fitting and its problems related in clothing fit and to get basic data to develop fitted ready-to-wear garment, total 238 subjects were surveyed during the period of May, 1997 in Taejon. The major results were as follows; 1. The results showed that most subjects had purchased ready-to-wear garments in a department store. 2. The fit of ready-to-wear garments is more suitable in the upper wear such as T-shirts and blouse than in lower wear such as skirts and pants. 3. Fitting problems in ready-to-wear garments were identified, including sleeve length, shoulder area. 4. A variety of fitting problems in ready-to-wear garments were showed waistline, thigh girth, sleeve length. 5. There were significant differences between the demographic variables, i.e. marital status and occupation and clothing problems.
With rapid expansion in e-retailing of apparel business, personalized fitting model service shows the possibility as the differentiated marketing strategy in cyber shopping. According as necessity of personalized fitting model construction rises, it is tried personalized fitting model creation in several fields such as computer engineering, mechanical engineering, information engineering. But, because existent study was concentrated only on human body modeling, it does not reflect average morphological characteristics of human body properly. In this study, we wish to examine if morphing is fit for expressing characteristic of average human body shape and suggest desirable morphing. We used 3-D scan data of 254 Korean middle aged men collected by Size Korea 2004. The result of this study are as follows: Lower body types were categorized by height hip girth and lower drop(hip girth-navel girth) which were main factors of lower body shape. Then each factor was divided into 3 groups respectively, 30% in the middle, over 30%, under 30%. In 27 groups, the group which belonged to 30% in the middle of height, 30% in the middle of hip girth, 30% in the middle of lower drop was selected as a representative group. We tested geometrical figure by differ volume, tilt, position of point. And we created a representative type of men's lower bodies by morphing the representative group and analyzed it's horizontal, vertical sections. A representative type which was created by morphing reflected a real body and changed realistically at the part of hip, crotch, calf muscle and so on. A cross sections of a representative type were similar to average cross sections of the representative group in size and shape. So it was proved that morphing was successful.
This study was designed to examine the aesthetic characteristics of traditional wedding dress in Japan based on the internal$.$external aesthetics. They were extruded external and internal aesthetics based on pattern, color and fitting. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; Decorative characteristics in external aesthetics extracted into three factors; fantasticism, movement, amusement. The fantasticism was based on the omitted pattern, painting gold. The movement was presented through irregular composition, fitting method, and silhouette. The amusement was expressed through the composition focus on a near view and pattern reminded of bring up the image. Fitting characteristics in external aesthetics extracted into four factors; grace, cubic effect, optical illusion, and tradition. The pace was expressed through the weight, formativeness, and layered look The cubic effect was presented through spacing of belt and H-line silhouette. The optical illusion was based on the straight line of seam, V-pleats and straight silhouette of fitting, and high-waisted belt. The tradition expressed through the unchanged form since Heian-dynasty. Internal aesthetics were characterized by the naturalism and the moderation. The naturalism was presented through the natural pattern which based on subjective feeling, indignity and position of wearing man, and color based on taste. The necessaries, or pressed artificial moderation, were expressed through the clothing silhouette by simplicity.

This study investigated the usage and product conditions of clothing companies and online dummy companies for the development of fitting dummy for South Korean women's wear in their 50s and 60s. These women-targeted apparel companies mainly used nude-sized torso type and torso crotch type made of FRP material. The frequency of use of the dummies was high, while the user satisfaction was moderate. Users expressed dissatisfaction with the inaccurate reflection of the body shape according to the KS sizing system and the measurements such as the front and back intercye, upper arms, abdomen, crotch, and waist back length. Upon survey, 73.7% of the respondents answered that development of the dummy and the appropriate age for it is 50 to 54, and they preferred the torso crotch form. In the production of online dummy companies, the torso crotch type and torso type were most widely produced, and polyurethane, FRP, and recycled paper materials were used. The size of dummy was expressed in numerical type, and 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 44, 55, 66, 77, 88 were being produced. Even models of the same size had significant deviation, especially in the waist circumference. Also, there was no dummy reflecting 25%~75% center interval to the KS garment sizing standards of women in their 50s and 60s. Therefore, it is desperately necessary to develop a fitting dummy for KS clothing sizing system that reflect their body sizes and shapes.
This study aims to predict causal relationships between experience economy, perceived flow, and continuous use intention in the mixed reality (MR) environment. A virtual fitting mirror with two modes (i.e., avatar and self-image) was selected for this study. A total of 200 samples was obtained in two sample frames: virtual fitting users in avatar mode (group 1, n = 119) and self-image mode (group 2, n = 81). The results showed that the experience economy consists of entertainment, education, esthetic, and escapism. The entertainment and esthetic experiences had positive effects on perceived flow, leading to continuous use intentions. For avatar mode, the entertainment and esthetic experiences had positive effects on continuous use intentions through the mediating effect of flow; and the education experience had a positive effect on the continuous intentions to use the MR technology. For self-image mode, the flow mediated the effect of entertainment on continuous use intentions, whereas education and escapism directly affected the intention to use the MR technology. The paper also discusses the theoretical and managerial implications of using MR technologies in fashion retailing.
The purpose of this study were: (1) to determine buying practices of mothers concerning child-ren's shirts and slacks; (2) to find out the characteristics of satisfaction and dissatisfaction about these same two items of children's clothing; (3) to make gathered information available to consumers and manufacturers, and to suggest ways to improve children's clothing for consumers. The data for this study were collected through questionaires to 789 mothers of seven and eight years old children in three elementary schools from December 3 to December 14, 1978. The findings are as follows: 1. More than $71\%$ of mothers stated that all of their children's shirts and slacks were purchased ready-made. More than half of the children acquired some part of their clothing through hand-me-downs. 2. The store in which mothers purchased their children clothing most frequently was near-by market or wholesale market and the next was children's wear specialty shop. 3. Childrens accompanied mothers more frequently when slacks were being purchased than when shirts were. 4. More than half the children of seven and eight years old wear size 9$\~$10 and the next common size was size 11$\~$12. 5. Most mothers determined the proper size in clothing by having the child actually try on the clothing. 6. $44\%$ of mothers stated that they have a fitting problem with shirts and $64\%$ of mothers stated that they have fitting problems with slacks.
While it is an important element of clothing construction, research has so far been very limited on the similarities between virtual and real clothing in terms of the type of neckline. The purpose of this study is to verify the similarity, accuracy of virtualization, and actuality of neckline, which all play an important role in individual impressions and image formation, and require considerable modification when fitting real samples. A total of 5 neckline models were selected through the analysis of dress composition textbooks. The selected designs were then planned and manufactured in muslin. The specimen clothes were then tested on a female model in her 20s. 2 kinds of virtual bodies were created in order to compare the real and the virtual dressing. The first virtual body was made through an Artec 3D Eva scan of the model, and the other was made by entering the model's measurements in a CLO 3D program. A visual image of the front, side, and back image of both the real and virtual dressing were subsequently collected. The collected images were then evaluated by 20 professional fashion workers who checked the similarity between the real and the virtual versions. The current study found that the similarity between the actual and virtual wearing of the five neckline designs with reality appeared higher with the virtual wearing image using the 3D-scanned body. The results of this study could provide further information on the selection of appropriate avatars to clothing companies that check the fit of clothing by utilizing 3D virtualized programs.
The human body, which is composed of concave and convex curvatures, makes it difficult to transfer into 2D patterns directly from 3D data. In previous studies. Jeong, et al.(2004) suggested the block method was fester and easier when dealing with the triangular patches of male's upper dress form. Although the block method is useful to make a pattern, the information(area, length, etc.) from a 2D pattern would be different depending on the direction of the block method. As a result horizontal and diagonal block methods were suggested as optimal methods for 2D tight-fitting patterns. These block methods were closer to the original area of the 3D scan data than the vertical block method. The total area of the 2D pattern obtained by the horizontal and diagonal block methods showed little differences. In case of the horizontal and diagonal block methods, the total error of the 2D pattern area ranged from $0.01\%\~0.25\%$. In comparing the length of the 2D pattern with that of the 3D scan data, the obtained 2D pattern was $0.1\~0.2cm$ shorter than the 3D scan data, which was within the acceptable range of errors in making clothes. 3D space distribution images between the body surface and the experimental clothing were also measured and $3\%$ enlargement of the original pattern was verified as the adequate adjustment.
This paper looks at perceived images of female university students concerned with various wedding hair coordination including wedding hair styles, veil details and fitting positions and head dresses. Ta design an experimental test of a wedding dress and hair coordination variables, the content analysis of magazines was performed and hair experts were interviewed. 17 stimuli representing the variables of wedding hair coordination were manipulated and included with hair styles(2), veil details(2), veil fitting Positions(2), head dresses(2) and a wedding hat(1). The questionnaire of 445 was carried out and data were statistically processed. As a result, five images of wedding hair coordination were factors loaded, that is, favorable, decorative, smooth, personal and pretty one. Various main and interaction effects were found in images of it regarding to changing hair styles, different veil details and fitting positions and head dresses. favorable images, they affected by interactions between hair styles and veil details, hair styles and veil fitting positions, hair styles and head dresses and between veil details and the fitting positions. For personal images, interactions between veil details and the positions of veil fitting had effects on female students; for smooth images, That is, for hair style, female university students were influenced by favorable and smooth images; for veil details, by decorative and smooth images; for the positions of fitting veil, by decorative and favorable ones Then the researcher examined effects by dual interactions between factors of wedding hair coordination. For decorative images, they were found influenced by interactions between hair styles and veil details and between hair styles and head dresses. For personal ones, interactions between veil details and the fitting positions; for pretty images, interactions between the fitting positions and head dresses. These findings will provide sellers of the wedding dress with the idea of how females to perceive wedding hair coordination according to the variation of it.
