  • This study is to compare the pattern making methods of men's jeans and to analyze sizes of parts while also evaluating the appearance and fit according to a 3D virtual garment simulation. Five types of patterns are selected for the analysis. For the appearance evaluation, the study conducted a virtual clothing simulation, created a perspective drawing, and applied Clothing pressure to each test outfit. First, according to the pattern comparisons, A and D had the shortest crotch length, while B had the longest; B had the narrowest crotch width, while C had the widest; C had the greatest waist circumference, and B had the smallest; C had the greatest knee and hem circumference, while E had the smallest. Second, according to the appearance evaluation, E pants had the highest rating overall for the waist, crotch, knee, and hem comfort; A pants had the highest rating for the yoke line end and placement; and C pants had the highest rating for the side seam line. According to the correlation analysis, ease of the waist, hips, hem and thighs were important factors (in that order) in determining the overall appearance of the jean pants.

  • The object of this study is to perceive the discomforts of the brassiere consumers according to their age groups & weight groups. The study procedures consisted of a status quo study, a rating on fit and performance according to brassiere types. 1. The result of the status quo study are as follows. (1) The study showed that with getting age bust circumference and bust size become larger with a bigger tendency to droop. Thus older age, bigger bust circumference and size require a technically improved version of brassieres. (2) Slightly tight fit brassieres were favored over more ample ones. The hobbling areas were center front, under armpits, and shoulder strapareas in that order. 2. The results of fit rating on different brassiere types are as follows. (1) The areas affected by brassiere performance were length from side neck point to bust point (bust length), width between bust points and bust height. (2) Compared among brassiere types, the wire type proved most effective. The bigger cup size group had higher satisfactory rate and low discomfort on wearing.

  • This study examined the construct validity of a Korean translated version of the Gifted Rating Scales-School Form (GRS-S). Data were collected from five elementary schools in a metropolitan area and a midsize town in South Korea. Confirmatory factor analysis results indicated that the original factor structure (6-factor solution) fit the data collected from the teachers. However, the 6-factor solution did not fit the data collected from the parents. Thus, exploratory factor analysis was conducted for the parent data. The results showed that seven factors were extracted, and the factors explained 71.96% of the total variance. Unlike the original factor structure, some items of the academic ability scale were grouped with intellectual ability scale, and a creativity scale item and another academic ability scale item were an independent factor. The study outcomes provide preliminary support for a translated version of the GRS-S with elementary students in Korea. More detailed interpretations and implications of the results are discussed in the study.

  • Background: Functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) are designed to systematically assess the capacity to perform work-related tasks and to determine worker's ability to return to the previous job following work-related injuries. These evaluations may be rated either by clinician or worker. There has been a lack of consensus between the two scoring methods. Objects: This study aimed: 1) to confirm if the data are fit to the Rasch rating scale model and 2) to investigate the item-level concordance rate between the ratings of clinician and injured worker of the FCE. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample (n=124) of a rehabilitation program with the Occupational Rehabilitation Data Base for workers with low back pain. The functional capacity evaluation at admission and discharge was administered to clinicians and workers. The data were analyzed using both classical test theory-based Pearson's r and intra-class coefficient followed by item-level analysis with Rasch rating scale model. Results: All items of the FCE, except sitting items rated by clinician at admission and handling items rated by both clinician and worker throughout admission and discharge, were acceptable fit statistics with minor out of ranges for a misfit criterion. This may indicate that the items of the FCE overall fit to the Rasch rating scale model. Few problematic items responding differently to clinician and worker both at admission and discharge were detected with the differential item functioning analysis despite the excellent concordance rate using the two conventional statistics-sitting and handling items at admission and handling item at discharge. Conclusion: The item-level speculations using Rasch analysis of the FCE demonstrate that the ratings of clinician and self ratings of worker were psychometrically acceptable though there was an apparent discrepancy between the raters both at admission and discharge.

  • This study was performed to verify the validity and utility of the Korean Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-Preschool Version(BRIEF-P). The BRIEF-P is one of the most used instruments to measure Executive Function(EF) and a teacher-rating assessment method designed to measure the executive function of preschoolers(age 2-5). A total of 200 preschoolers(104 boys, 96 girls; recruited aged 3 to 5years) participated. Confirmatory factor analysis was carried out to evaluate the model structure. Correlation analysis was done to verify the concurrent validity. In the results, the model fit indexes were good with the five BRIEF-P subscales (that is, inhibit, shift, emotional control, working memory, plan/organize). The internal consistency of the BRIEF-P five subscales were supported. As a results, the Korean Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-Preschool Version(BRIEF-P) was confirmed to be a reliable and valid assessment tool to measure executive function in preschoolers.

  • Background: Rasch analysis estimates the probability that a respondent will endorse an item and select a particular rating for that item. It has the advantage of placing both the items and the person along a single ration scale and calibrates person ability and item difficulty onto an interval scale by logits. In addition, Rasch analysis is a useful tool for exploring the validity of questionnaires that have been developed using traditional methods. Therefore, it has been recommended as a method for developing and evaluating functional outcome measures. Objects: The purpose of this study was to investigate the item fit, item difficulty, and rating scale of the Korean version of the Fullerton Advanced Balance Scale (KFAB) using Rasch analysis. Methods: Total 97 subjects (39 males and 58 females) with dwelling elderly adults were participated, but 3 people were excluded for misfit persons. Rasch analysis was then done by means of the Winsteps program to determine the item fit, item difficulty, rating scale, and reliability of the KFAB. Results: In this study, the 'standing with feet together and eyes closed', 'two-footed jump', 'walk with head turns', and 'stand on foam, eyes closed' items shown misfit statistics. The most difficult item was 'stand on one leg', whereas the easiest item was 'turn in full circle'. The rating scale was acceptable with all criteria. Both item and person separation indices and reliability showed acceptable values. This would indicated that each domain covers a useful range of item difficulty that is appropriate for measuring a person with a wide range of functional ability. Conclusion: The KFAB has been proven reliable, valid and an appropriate tool with which to evaluate the balance of the elderly people.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the functional category, the item structure and the model-data fit of the neck disability index (NDI) of neck pain subjects by performing a Rasch rating scale analysis. Methods: The data was obtained from the assessments of 71 college students (males: 27, females: 44) with neck pain. The data of the NDI was applied to the Rasch's rating scale model to estimate the difficulty of items, the goodness-of-fit of each item, the separation reliability and index, and the rating scale. Results: The 'sleep' item showed misfit and nine items were founds to be fits for self-reporting of disability due to neck pain. The most difficult item of the remaining 9 items was 'work' and the easiest item was 'headache'. The transformation formula score=(logit score+7.10)/(7.10+0.11)$\times$100. The 6 response levels of the NDI were validated according to the structure of the rating scale. The item and subject reliability of the separation reliability was 0.97 and 0.85, respectively. Conclusion: We proved that the NDI for self-reporting of disability of daily activities due to mild neck pain was valid and reliable. This study suggests that individuals with mild neck pain may be assessed by using the modified NDI that does not include the 'sleep' item in the 10 items of NDI.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the torso patterns by analyzing sensory evaluations. The anthropometric measurements for female college students were obtained between March and October in 1998, and a total of 197 anthropomatric data was used for the somatotype analysis. The appearance and fit of three kinds of torso patterns(ESMOD, FIT, and Muller & sohn) were evaluated by expert panel and the subjects. The results of the anthropometric measurements and sensory evaluations are as follows; The mean height of the anthropometric data for 197 students is 158.98cm. The largest proportion of the three somatotypes(H, M and A type) is big hip type(A type) consisting of 47.7% of all the respondents. The result of the torso pattern evaluations by expert panel indicates that the ESMOD pattern obtains the highest rating in general acceptability. A significant difference(p<.05) in the responses to two questions, the placement of the waist dart, and the gapping & creasing at back hip area was found. The ESMOD and Muller & sohn patterns are given the highest rating in the general acceptability. The result of the evaluation was obtained by the subjects. (Korean J. • The purpose of this study was to investigate item goodness-of-fit of Scale, Rasch rating scale model was applied to 5 dimensions 24 items of the Test of Performance Strategies (TOPS) in a sample of athletes with physical disabilities (n=215). An assumption to test Rasch Model, which is satisfaction of unidimensionality, is regarded through PCAR test, and WINSTEPS 3.65 program is used to test the goodness-of-fit of items. The results of this study were: First, 3-point rating category was appropriate for the TOPS instead of the existing 5-point rating category. Second, as a result of analyzing the goodness-of-fit of the items, 21 items of the TOPS were suitable, but 3 items were not. Third, the item reliability of person separation of the TOPS was acceptable, but the person reliability of item separation was not suitable and it was necessary to adjust the item order considering the difficulty level of the items. Fourth, as a result of comparing the individual attribute score and the difficulty level through the Item-Person Map, the distribution of the item difficulty distribution was shown to be biased in some factors compared to the personal attribute score distribution.

  • For an accurate rainfall-runoff simulation in the river basin, not evaluation of runoff model but accurate runoff data are very important. In this study, SSARR model was applied to the Geum River basin and these results are compared with runoff data observed at the Gongju gauging station. The model results didn't good fit the discharge data determined from the rating curve at Gongju gauging station during normal and dry season, especially. For the reliability analysis for the existing rating curve, we observed new stream discharge set from 2003 to 2005. We also estimated long term runoff data from the base flow separation method and defined the hydraulic characteristics. The results show that the new observed stream discharge is similar to the rainfall-runoff model results but existing rating curve seems to be overestimated about 10-20% during normal and dry season. We found that the continuous monitoring and update for the existing rating curve at the gaging station are needed for accurate estimation of runoff data.
