  • Recently, it has become a matter of importance concerning a distribution system of the fisheries products in our day, Especially, this paper disregards the fact of changes in demand and distribution system for fisheries products under the period of the high economic growth in Japan. The commercial capital of fisheries products has been modernized by the development of the public market place. The distribution system of fisheries products will rather play an important role than now. In this state, this study is to introduce the development of fish market theroy and attempts to explan the market trends in the production in Japan.

A Study on the Distribution Channel of Fishery Products Exported to the United States (대미 수출 수산물의 유통경로 분석 연구)

  • The United States is Korea's important trading partner, ranking third (13.7%) in exports of fishery products in Korea. The impact on exports to the United States is expected to be significant if the seafood import provisions under the MMPA are implemented in 2024 accordingly. It is expected that documents proving production information will be required for all items when exporting to the U.S. Therefore, this study attempted to examine the current status of exports and exporters in order to understand the actual conditions of major fishery products exported to the United States. Besides, there are currently no official system and procedures in Korea to prove production information for all fishery items, so we tried to suggest implications by examining distribution channels for major export items to the U.S. In this study, five items including seaweed and halibut as domestic aquaculture items, tuna and squid as deep-sea fishing items, and fish cake using imported raw materials were selected as the target items for distribution channel investigation. In addition, this study is meaningful in that it investigated the routes from production to processing, distribution, and export of each item and identified detailed distribution channel for major items exported to the U.S.

A Study on Policy of Distribution Improvement of Fishery Products in Busan (부산수산물의 유통개선정책에 관한 연구)

  • In 2006, the share of fisheries distribution in Busan amounted to 1.9 million ton, which was 41 percent of the whole country. In details, coastal fishery 334 thousand ton(14% of the whole country), deep sea fishery 452 thousand ton(82%), import fishery 964 thousand ton(70%), export fishery 157 thousand ton(43%) were distributed in Busan region, respectively. According to distribution share, import(50%), deep sea fishery(24%), coastal fishery(18%), export(8%) are main category of fisheries distribution in Busan. After the institutional changes in 1997, that is, from monopoly to the competitive systems are implemented, the share of sales volume through a home trust market decreased gradually since 2000. Especially, the share of direct sales in farming fisheries sector amounted to 73.8 percent of total production volume, 80.7 percent of production value in 2005. Furthermore, the share of fisheries sale through e-commerce is increasing owing to the growth of IT and competitive price of its products. and the sale share of large discount store is also on the 10% more increase. Hereafter these structure changes of fisheries distribution in Busan will be more intensified. A Study on the Multi-Stage Inventory System - Especially with the Inventory Management of Fisheries Processing Industries- (다단계 재고시스템에 관한 연구 -수산물가공업의 재고관리를 중심으로-)

  • The objective of this study is to develop an inventory model for the inventory management of a stocking point which sells processed fisheries products. The study, first of all, sets up fisheries processing companies, food companies, apparel companies, pharmaceutical companies and electronic and electrical companies as a population. Then, a comparative study is empirically applied to obtain the inventory characteristics of final products by industry through a survey of a sample selected by a random sampling procedure. The major inventory characteristics of processed fisheries products obtained from the above analysis can be summarized as follows : 1) The major demand characteristics of processed fisheries products is to have wide seasonal fluctuations because the supply of raw materials (i.e., fisheries products) heavily depends on the productive capacity of nature. 2) It has found that fisheries processing companies are the worst in inventory management among the various industries selected in the sample. However, the self-rating of inventory management system by inventory managers of companies shows that the fisheries processing companies are relatively higher than the other companies. 3) The portion of inventory holding cost out of inventory relevant cost is very high for processed fisheries products compared with final products of the other industries. 4) Processed fisheries products are distributed to final consumers through roughly two distribution echelons and take a parallel type inventory system for their distribution structure. In order to develop an inventory model which reflects the inventory characteristics of processed fisheries products mentioned in the above, an inventory model with partial backorders is developed under the situation of stochastic lead time under the consideration of the inventory characteristics of processed fisheries products and then an iterative solution method is provided for the model. Then this study analyzes sensitivity for the standard deviation of lead time in the model by numerical examples.

A Study on Problems and Solutions for Trading System of Fishery Products Wholesale Market in Korea (수산물 도매시장 거래제도의 문제점과 개선방안)

  • The Act on Distribution and Price Stabilization of Agricultural and Fisheries Product, which specifies rules and regulations on the trading system of fishery products wholesales markets, has been revised several times, mainly in order to improve the trading system. However, there is still a huge gap between the reality and law when it comes to the trading system of the fishery products wholesale market. This study aims to analyze the problems of the trading system of the fishery products wholesale market and to suggest ways to make improvement. The main problem facing the trading system of the fishery products wholesale market is sales on consignment by intermediate wholesalers, and this paper suggests two alternatives to solve the problem. First, intermediate wholesaler can be converted to market wholesalers, but it also entails other problems. The market wholesaler system has never been successfully adopted in the agricultural and fishery products wholesale market, and it is not clear which system is better between the wholesale market corporation and the market wholesaler system. Second, sales on consignment by intermediate wholesalers can be adopted with a positive view toward it. Negotiation transaction can be carried out for sales on consignment as a transaction method under the current Act on Distribution and Price Stabilization of Agricultural and Fisheries Products. However, since the act cannot provide a solution for listing, it is necessary to introduce Japan's negotiated transaction in advance system as a negotiation transaction method.

The Effects of Hazardous Substances Generation and Media Reports on the Production, Distribution and Consumption of Aquatic Products (식품안전 위해물질의 발생 및 언론보도가 수산물 생산, 유통 및 소비에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated whether there is a correlation between the occurrence of hazardous substances such as vibrio, norovirus, radioactivity, shellfish posion, hepatitis A, etc. and media reports, and whether the occurrence of hazardous substances and media reports affect the production, distribution and consumption of aquatic products. The main research results are as follows. First, it can be seen that there is a difference in the relationship between the occurrence of hazardous substances and media reports according to hazardous substances. Second, it suggests seen that the occurrence of hazardous substances and media reports can have a negative effect on the production and the prices of aquatic products. Third, it was found that the occurrence and reporting of hazardous substances had different effects on the distribution margin of aquatic products due to the complexity and rigidity of the distribution structure. Fourth, consumers feel a threat to aquatic products safety and significantly reduce consumption when hazardous substances occur. There is a possibility that concerns about one item may lead to a decrease in consumption of domestic and imported aquatic products that are not related at all to the occurrence of hazardous substances. In conclusion, aquatic products are exposed to various hazardous substances such as vibrio, norovirus, radioactivity, shellfish posion, and hepatitis A. It was found that the occurrence of hazardous substances and its media reports could cause damage to the fishery sector.

  • The introduction of the wholesalers system is being considered from various aspects in order to improve the problems of the listed auction system of wholesale corporations. The wholesalers system is a corporation that receives designation from the creator and purchases or consigns agricultural and fishery products to wholesale or broker sales, and has the advantage of reducing the distribution stage and distribution costs. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the wholesalers system introduced to improve the problems of the listed auction system of wholesale corporations through a case study of market wholesalers handling fishery products.

Structural Change and Development Direction of The Fisheries Port Market (수산물 산지시장의 구조변화와 발전방향)

  • The study analyzed the current status of fisheries port market and presented the direction of developments. The fisheries port market has become increasingly widespread due to the aging of the facilities and the scale of the fish product trade, and the number of distribution workers has also increased. The problems of fisheries port market are as follows. First, the transaction structure was changed as the proportion of aquaculture products increased. Second, the trading structure has changed, but it has failed to keep pace with the changes in the production structure. Third, the volume and amount of fish traded in aquaculture products and fish stocks increased. As a result, the growth rate of the fisheries port market is decreasing and profitability is deteriorating. The development direction of the fisheries port market is as follows. First, it is necessary to standardize the fisheries port market facilities, according to the type of fish products. Second, it needs to diversify its trade targets such as processed fish products and imported fish products. Third, it is necessary to diversify the business of the fisheries port market in order to increase profitability.

Measures of Improvement for Content Claims of Free Antibiotic Livestock Products (무항생제 축산물 인증 표시제 개선방안)

  • This study attempts to derive measures to improve content claims of free antibiotic livestock products(FLP) through analyzing situations for the FLP market and results of survey for its providers. Recently the number of certified farms has been decreasing, but shipments per farm has been increasing. Furthermore as the COVID-19 has increased health and environmental concern, shipments of FLP have showed a steady increase. The distribution channel of FLP, regardless of varieties, is similar to that of general livestock products(GLP). The major results from survey for providers of FLP are little difference in between content claims of GLP and FLP and low utilization of FLP in production of livestock processed products compared with its shipments. The policies for content claims of FLP suggested by this study are permission of FLP authentication labelling for livestock processed products and permission of those which contain FLP over 70% in the first step.
