  • The complexity of newly developed protection algorithm and higher performance requested by the user makes the software embedded in the protective relay much harder to develop and maintain. The versatility of 32bit microprocessor and the availability of cheaper memory semiconductors introduced the fertile developing background for the protective relay developers. The use of component object model(COM) in the software developing process enables the developer to write much complex code in the easy and safe way and to maintain the code easily, too. And the aid of the COM library, the distributed computing environment will be expected to appear by the use of the COM programming model in the protective relay firmware program.

  • Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) are applied to many monitoring applications. Present sensor nodes can perform many functions at the same time and contain complex software. During the lifetime of sensor nodes, they are required to reprogram their software because of their new functions, software, software bug fixes. The nodes are inaccessible physically or it is very difficult to upgrade their software by one by one. To upgrade the software of sensor nodes in WSNs remotely, this paper presents an energy efficient method by selecting an optimal relay node. The CHR(Cluster Head Relay) method is compared with SPIN and RANDOM method. Three methods are simulated in NS-2 with the same environmental parameters. Simulation results show that CHR shows faster update time and less power consumption compared with other two methods.

  • Recently in the evaluation of physical properties of a material, its surface friction characteristics is much required. This study treats the development of portable and affordable friction coefficient tester, which includes utensil design and application, measurement circuit design and layout, and microprocessor based firmware building. Also, real applicability of the present portable friction coefficient tester has been shown via performance comparisons with the existing standard tester.

  • This paper describes the implementation of a fuzzy temperature measuring & control system to control the water temperature in plant. This system consisted of mainly three parts; sensing part, control part that includes a control algorithms introduced the fuzzy theory, and actuating part. The control algorithms of control part are utilized a look-up table method and firmware technique using one-chip microprocessor(89C52). For evaluating the performance of a fuzzy control system, the experiment results of a fuzzy controller are compared with these of a conventional PID controller which provides an auto-tuning function. The experiment results show that the proposed controller has a good control performance and is robust to external disturbance.

  • High sped messaging layer for application's feeling of low level network performance is needed by Clustering System based on high speed network fabrics. It should have the mechanism to directly pass messages between network card and application space, and provide flexible affodabilities for many diverse applications. In this paper, CROWN (Clustering Resources On Workstations' Network) which is designed and implemented for multi-purpose clustering system will be introduced briefly, and CLCP(CROWN Lean Communication Primitives)which is the high speed messaging layer for CROWN will be followed. CLCP consists of a firmware for controlling Myrinet card, device drier, and user libraries. CLCP supports various application domains as a result of pooling and interrupt receive mechanism. In case of polling based receive, 8 bytes short message, and no other process, CLCP has 262 micro-second response time between two nodes, and IM bytes large message, it shows 442Mbps bandwidth.

  • This paper shows an implementation of WLAN-based Audio/Video(A/V) system for multimedia home networks. Proposed WLAN-based A/V system can transmit multimedia data of high quality. The entire system consists of a 16-bit RISC controller, a program ROM, a SRAM, timers, an interrupt controller, a DART, GPIOs, an I2C and the OFDM modem supporting for the IEEE 802.11g standard. The simple MAC functions are implemented by firmware on an embedded 16-bit RISC controller. The OFDM modem supports a complete set of data rates up to 54Mbps. Proposed the system is implemented by an Altera FPGA EP1S60F1020C6 device, a 10-bit 2-ch DAC, a 10-bit 2-ch ADC and RF/IF chips.

  • 이 논문은 MCU 교육 목적으로 개발한 AVR MCU용 부트로더 및 이와 통신 프로토콜을 공유하는 PC용 펌웨어 다운로더 프로그램에 소개한다. 저자들의 학과에서는 학생들의 MCU 교육을 위해 학과의 수업 내용에 적합한 MCU 실습보드를 직접 설계하여 사용하고 있다. 이 실습보드는 학생들이 휴대할 수 있도록 제작하였기 ?문에, 별도의 ISP 장비 없이 직렬 통신 인터페이스를 통해 PC에서 펌웨어를 다운로드 할 수 있도록 하고 있다. 이를 위해 AVR MCY용 부트로더와 펌웨어를 다운로드 할 수 있는 PC용 프로그램도 자체 개발하였다. 펌웨어 다운로도 프로그램은 다운로드 모드와 터미널 모드에서 동작하는데 현재의 상황에 맞게 모드 전환이 자동으로 이루어 지므로 직렬 포트를 열고 닫거나 모드를 전환할 필요가 없기 때문에 개발자에게 더욱 편리한 개발 환경을 제공한다.

  • LonWorks 을 이용해 홈 네트워크를 구성할 수 있다. 기존에는 하나의 노드가 되는 조명, 딤머(dimmer), 스위치에 해당하는 디바이스를 중앙 집중식으로 제어할 수 있는 컨트롤러가 개발되어 왔다. 본 논문에서 제시하는 컨트롤러는 스위치와 조명사이에 데이터를 처리하는 중개자의 역할을 하는 중요한 오브젝트이다. 본 논문에서는 이 기술의 핵심인 LonTalk 프로토콜을 설명하고 네트워크에 구성되는 컨트롤러에 대해 주소 지정방식을 이용하여, 여러 개의 조명을 연결될 수 있도록 네트워크 변수 타입을 제시하였다. 뉴런(Neuron)C 로 펌웨어(Firmware)를 구성하여 결과값을 얻을 수 있었고, LonWorks의 어플리케이션인 LNS(Lonworks Network Service)를 통해 플러그 인 부분까지 구현하여 해당 결과값을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • We have designed embedded web sewer system and ported Linux operating system version 2.4.5 at our system. And then We implemented to control and monitor widely separated hardware and implemented to monitor widely separated image using CMOS image sensor HV7131B. Web server is the Boa web server with General Public License. We designed for this system using of Intel's SA1110 ARM core base processor and connecting input and output device at GPIO port of SA1110. Device driver of General purpose I/O for Embedded Linux OS is designed. And then the application program controlling driver is implemented to use of common gate interface C language. User is available to control and monitor at client PC. This method have benefit to reduce the Expenditure of hardware design and development time against PC base system and have various and capacious application against firmware base system.

A study on effective log file creation method of AVLS terminal based on embedded linux (내장형 리눅스 기반 AVLS 단말기의 효율적 로그파일 생성 기법에 관한 연구)

  • AVLS is nowadays pretty considered on one of important parts in telematics service with a computerization of vehicle. However, with an implementation of commercial OS, individual OS and firmware on AVLS terminals, the cost and developing period are significantly increased. In this paper, we present the effective log-file creation methode about automobile status and location information within a restricted memory through designing AVLS terminals based on embedded linux. The proposed method shows 0.8% better performance on bzip2 compressor comparing to gzip compressor in the compressibility. In addition, bzip2 is faster than gzip about 2.14 times in the speed of compression.
