Obesity and fitness have been identified as key health concerns among USA firefighters yet little is known about the current habits related to exercise and diet. In particular, high-intensity training (HIT) has gained increasing popularity among this population but limited quantitative data are available about how often it is used and the relationship between HIT and other outcomes. Using survey methodology, the current study evaluated self-reported HIT and diet practice among 625 male firefighters. Almost one-third (32.3%) of participants reported engaging in HIT. Body composition, as measured by waist circumference and percentage body fat, was significantly related to HIT training, with HIT participants being approximately half as likely to be classified as obese using body fat [odds ratio (OR) = 0.52, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.34-0.78] or waist circumference (OR = 0.61, 95% CI = 0.37-0.98). Those who engaged in HIT were more than twice as likely as those who did not (OR = 2.24, 95% CI = 1.42-3.55) to meet fitness recommendations. Findings highlight directions for future prevention and intervention efforts.

The paper compares the statutory requirements for the design mid construction of primary schools in Korea and Scotland with respect to fire safety and examines the attitudes to, and the behavior in, evacuation scenarios of Primary school Pupils in both countries. The key behavioral issues examined are the effectiveness of fire safety training, the level of teacher dependency, the effect of spatial organization and gender differences both within and between Korea and Scotland.
The main purpose of this study is to propose a directionfor fire safety education and to discuss the current issues of fire extinguisher training A survey was conducted, and the results show that only 52.1% of homes have a fire extinguisher, whereas over 93% of public and private work places (e.g., schools and businesses) have a fire extinguisher. Approximately 90% of the survey participants had fire extinguisher training experience. However, only 65.8% of the public and private work places conducted fire extinguisher training regularly. 42.5% of survey participants had not been trained in the past year. In the survey result on fire extinguisher knowledge, participants showed a score of 3.95/5.00 for how to use a fire extinguisher and a score of 3.00/5.00 for the meaning of the ABC ratings of fire extinguishers. An independent T-test showed that the "the installation of fire extinguishers in the house" and "regular fire safety education in your group" have influences on the "the knowledge of fire extinguishers" (p < .05).

This study aims to minimize casualties in the event of an apartment fire by developing a virtual reality (VR) fire-training program (using the latest IT techniques) and verifying its validity as a learning tool. For this purpose, environmental parameters, such as the unit floor's size and the composition of the family, were established. Then, possible fire scenarios that could occur in the apartment building were developed and implemented in a VR setting. Finally, a survey was conducted to review the responses to the program. The results of the survey demonstrated that the responses were positive, confirming the effectiveness of the program.
The importance of the firefighting education & Training is being magnified in order to enhance and strengthen a firefighters' ability and to reduce the firefighters' fatality and casualty. Therefore, It is needed to expand the facilities. In this study, with a comparative analysis of the global firefighting education & training facilities for fire suppression, we try to present the necessity and the basic contents of the establishing the installation criteria for the domestic firefighting education & training facilities. It has to contain specific purpose of the training and minimum standards for the structures with a guarantee of an international level. Naturally, the top priority is a safety of trainees and trainers. And, it should pay attention to a higher effectivity of the training course with a active reflection of the standard operation procedures' scenarios. Simultaneously, by securing a similarity and a compatibility to the other standards, it must maintain the balance of a whole standard.

This study suggests a solution regarding the effects of apartment facility maintenance and fire safety facility maintenance on the residential satisfaction of residents. The results are as follows. Firstly, facility maintenance had a negative effect on residential satisfaction. Analysis revealed that residential satisfaction decreased the more breakdowns there were in the facilities. This revealed that when maintenance staff neglect the residents' complaints due to the repetitive aspect of their jobs, there was a negative effect on residential satisfaction; therefore, residential satisfaction must be increased by maintaining the facilities well and training support for maintenance staff. Secondly, fire safety facilities had a negative effect on residential satisfaction. Analysis revealed that residential satisfaction decreased the more malfunctions there were in the fire safety facilities and the more replacements there were in fire fighting equipment. This revealed the importance of safety and the fact that the apartment heavily relies on fire safety facilities because there may be a low awareness regarding safety; therefore, maintenance staff must lower the damage from fire safety facilities and to increase the residential satisafaction of residents. Lastly, there needs to be repetitive training and education for residents regarding fire fighting and evacuating in accordance with the fire fighting plan as a means to strengthen residents' safety awareness.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the basic data (e.g. education experience and awareness of the installation situation, and usage of indoor fire hydrants) for the effective planning, progress and improvement of fire safety education. For this purpose, we surveyed 198 participants and an analysis of the frequency and descriptive statistics based on the survey data was carried out using SPSS 20.0 for Windows. The analysis results showed that 87.9% of the research participants live in accommodation with indoor fire hydrants installed and that, among them, 17.7%, did not know their location. 63.6% of the research participants, had received fire safety education but, among them, 31.0% had never been educated about the use of indoor fire hydrants. The main type of fire education was instructor-led training, which represented 50.0% of the participants. We believe that the results of this paper will serve as a basis for efficient adult fire safety education.

Facilities used by senior citizens, infants, and disabled people have characteristics that make it difficult to escape on their own or require a lot of evacuation time. Therefore, to ensure safety in case of fire, clear measures for securing safety of facilities, fire response methods, and training are required in accordance with the regulations. In case of postnatal care center facilities, newborn babies and mothers reside 24 hours a day, and as they are located in high-rise and multi-use facilities, measures for fire safety are necessary, but the domestic manual lacks. Accordingly, a field survey for security of the manual revealed that the establishment of awareness and facilities on temporary waiting areas and smoke control, which are easy for evacuation and fire safety, was a problem.
Korea has the highest suicide rate in the world, and firefighters have the highest suicide rate among the professional population. As a result of the study, post-traumatic stress disorder education is essential in all occupations. Post-traumatic stress disorder is the most common disease and the biggest obstacle for firefighters in Korea. Firefighters who have suffered physical and mental damage in many types of disaster sites due to their extreme occupations are rapidly increasing the suicide rate in recent years. In order to maximize the effect of job training, education on post-traumatic stress disorder from new employees to leadership training is urgently needed.
