An experiment was carried out to determine effect of cultivar, drying agent concentration and preservative on the moisture content, temperature and quality changes of fall harvested oat(Avena sativa L.) hay during field curing and storage. The main plots consisted of the cultivar such as 'Foothill' and 'Swan', the subplots consisted of drying agent concentration such as 7Skg/ha(C1), lOSkglha(C2) and control(C0) and the sub-subplots consisted of preservative such as buffered acid(BA), lactic bacteria inoculant(LB) and control(C0). Moisture contents of 'Foothill' and 'Swan' oat cultivar at harvest were 635.5 and 385.4%DW(Dry weight), respectively, but the final moisture contents of the oat cultivars were 117 and 86%DW. The moisture content of cut oat was not affeded by drying agent concentration. Core temperature of baled 'Swan' oat hay was a little higher than that of 'Foothill' and no consistent preservative effect was found. Total nitrogen content of 'Swan' oat hay was 3.08% and that of 'Foothill' oat hay was 3.45%(P<0.05). Drying agent treatment increased total nitrogen content of 'Swan'(P <0.05), but preservative had no effect. Crude fiber content of oat cultivar was increased as the curing progressed(P<0.05) and the difference of crude fiber content of oat cultivar was maintained through the whole curing period. Effect of drying agent concentration on crude fiber content was not found after preservation. Crude fiber content of 'Swan' oat hay was higher than that of 'Foothill' by 1.O% in ADF and 3.1 % in NDF(P<0.05). No preservative effect was found in crude fiber content. According to RFV of oat cultivar at harvest, forage quality of 'Foothill' and 'Swan' was Prime and Grade 1, respectively, but that of both cultivm was above Grade 2 at the final curing day. RFV of the stored 'Foothill' and 'Swan' oat hay was 122 and 114(P<0.05), respectively, and the quality of oat hay was classified as Grade 1 and 2, respectively, according to the forage quality standard assigned by AFGC.
Line contact structures, such as the contact between graphite brick and graphite tenon, widely exist in high-temperature gas-cooled reactors. Due to the stress concentration effect, the line contact area is one of the dangerous positions prone to failure in the nuclear reactor core. In this paper, the failure mechanism of line contact structures composed of IG11 nuclear graphite column and brick were investigated by means of experiment and finite element simulation. It was found that the failure process mainly includes three stages: firstly, the damage accumulation in nuclear graphite material led to the characteristic yielding of the line contact structure, but no macroscopic failure can be observed at this stage; secondly, the stresses near the contact area met Mohr failure criterion, and a crack initiated and propagated laterally in the contact zone, that is, local macroscopic failure occurred at this stage; finally, a second crack initiated in the contact area and developed in to a Y-shape, resulting in the final failure of the structure. This study lays a foundation for the structural design and safety assessment of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors.
Press drying was used on italian poplar (Populus euamericana) to find the profitable means of drying. This study was designed to investigate the process of platen drying considering core temperature, drying time, current moisture content, drying rate, shrinkage and recovery, and green volume specific gravity, equilibrium moisture content and dimensional stability of press dried material and air dried material, The drying tests were conducted using 1.5 centimeter thick material at platen temperature of $175^{\circ}C$. The results were summarized as follows. 1. Core temperature was divided into three stages of drying characterized by period initial heating, plateau temperature and rising core temperature. Plateau temperature was 114 to $119^{\circ}C$. 2. The following predicting equations of drying time(y) in different core temperatures were developed for initial thickness($x_1$), initial moisture content ($x_2$) and final moisture content ($x_3$) 3. The predicting equaltion of current moisture content(u) was log u=4.658-0.060t as funtion of drying time(t) and that of drying rate(r) was log r=-2.797-0.049t. Current moisture content and drying rate of air drying were shown in figure 2. 4. The predicting equation of shrinkage in thickness direction(y) was log y=1.933+0.038t as function of drying time(t), and that of expansion in width direction was $y=-0.692+0.043t-0.001t^2$. 5. Thickness shrinkage was increased more than proportional at to pressure increase. Width shrinkage and thickness recovery was greatest at 35psi. 6. Green volume specific gravity of press dried material was 25% greater than that of air dried material. But equilibrium moisture content of press dried material was less 24% than that of air dried material. Antishrinkage efficiency of press dried material were obtained 27.7%.
Veneers of two nominal thicknesses, 1.5 and 2.5mm, were rotary peeled from Japanese larch (Larix leptolepis). Dahurian larch (Larix gmelinei) and Radiata pine (Pinus radiata) bolts unheated and heated in the water vat temperature of $66^{\circ}C$ by rising a final temperature at 10cm core of $60^{\circ}C$ to remain core diameter of 11.4cm. 1.5 and 2.5mm thick veneer cut from the heated Japanese larch were significantly thinner than those of the unheated bolt and 2.5mm thick veneer cut from the heated Dahurian larch were significantly thicker than that of the unheated bolt. 1.5mm thick Dahurian larch veneer and 1.5 and 2.5mm thick Radiata pine veneers showed insignificant difference between the unheated and heated bolts, respectively. Check distance on the loose side of 1.5mm thick veneer cut from the heated Radiata pine was significantly wider than that of the unheated bolt. However check distances on the loose side of 1.5 and 2.5mm thick Japanese larch and Dahurian larch veneers and 2.5mm thick Radiata pine veneers showed insignificant difference between the unheated and heated bolts. Also the depth of check on the loose side of three species showed insignificantly difference between the unheated and heated bolts. Arithmatic mean deviation($R_a$) and maximum height($R_{max}$) of the profile on the loose side of dried veneer by preheating the bolt compared with unheated bolts were different among apecies and between veneer thickness. The preheating treatment slightly affected qualities of these thin veneers such as 1.5 and 2.5mm. The yield of 2.5mm thick veneer from the heated radiata pine was significantly higher than that of the unheated bolt. However the yield of 2.5mm thick veneer for other two species and 1.5mm thick veneer for three species showed insignificant difference between the unheated and heated bolts. The yield of 2.5mm thick veneer for three species were higher than those of 1.5mm thick veneer. The average yields of green veneer of Japanese larch. Dahurian larch and Radiata pine were 57.1, 55.1 and 54.0 percent, respectively. Variables such as initial MC. drying time and veneer thickness had strong effect for Japanese larch veneer, less effect for Radiata pine veneer and nuch less effect on final MC for Dahurian larch veneer in jet drying. Correlation between the current MC and the drying time of Dahurian larch with low variation of initial MC was higher than those of Japanese larch and Radiata pine veneer with high variation of initial MC in high temperature drying. Thickness shrinkages of 2.5mm thick veneer for Japanese larch and Radiata pine were higher than those of 1.5mm thick veneers, but shrinkages of Dahurian larch veneer were similar between two nominal veneer thicknesses.
The sub-micron particles of poly ($\gamma-glutamic$ acid) (PGA) containing lysozyme have been prepared using supercritical antisolvent (SAS) precipitation process at various experimental conditions such as pressure, temperature, inner diameter of nozzle, and concentration. As overall results of the application of SAS process to this system, the smaller size powder has been produced as (i) increasing pressure, (ii) decreasing temperature, (iii) decreasing the inner diameter of nozzle, and (iv) decreasing the concentration of PGA and lysozyme. It is found by means of FT-IR analysis that during SAS process, the composition has changed from the original composition of PGA : lysozyme=50 : 50 into PGA : lysozyme=33 : 67 at final product powder. It means that PGA has higher solubility for the mixed solvent of carbon dioxide and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Due to such difference of solubility, this particle forms the core-shell structure of which the core consists mainly of lysozyme. It is also found that the residual DMSO amount of $7.8\times10^{-3}wt%$ exists inside the powder.
$UO_2$ microsphere particles, core material of HTGR(High Temperature Gas Reactor) nuclear fuel, were prepared using by the GSP(Gel Supported Precipitation) method which is a modified-method of the wet sol-gel process. The spherical shape of initial liquid ADU droplets from the vibration nozzle system was continuously kept till the conversion to the final $UO_2$ microsphere. But the size of a final $UO_2$ microsphere was shrunken to about 25% of an initial ADU droplet size. Also, we found that the composition of dried-ADU gel particles was constituted of the very complicated phases, coexisted the U=O, C-H, N-H, N-O, and O-H functional groups by FT-IR. The important factors for obtain the no-crack $UO_2$ microsphere during the thermal treatment processes must perfectly wash out the remained-$NH_4NO_3$ within the ADU gel particle in washing process and the selections of an appropriate heating rate at a suitable gas atmosphere, during the calcining of ADU gel particles, the reducing of $UO_3$ particles, and the sintering of $UO_2$ particles, respectively.
The domestic innovative power reactor named iPOWER will employ the passive molten corium cooling system(PMCCS) to cool down and stabilize the core melt in the severe accident. The final design concept of the PMCCS is yet to be determined, but the in-vessel retention through external reactor vessel cooling has been also considered as a viable strategy to cope with the severe accident. In this study, the two-phase natural circulation flow established between the reactor vessel and the insulation was simulated using a thermal-hydraulic system code, MARS-KS. The flow path of cooling water was modeled with one-dimensional nodes, and the boundary condition of the heat load from the molten core was defined to estimate the naturally-driven flow rate. The evolution of major thermal-hydraulic parameters were also evaluated, including the temperature and the level of cooling water, the void fraction around the lower head of the reactor vessel, and the heat transfer mode on its external surface.
Press drying was used on sapwood and heartwood of oak (Qercus acutissima Carruthers) to find profitable means of drying low grade logs. This study was designed to investigate the process of press drying considering core temperature, current moisture content, drying rate, drying time, final moisture content, dimensional change and drying defects. The drying tests were conducted using 1.5 centimeter thick material at platen temperature of $175^{\circ}C$ and pressure of 35psi. The results were summarized as fallows. 1. Core temperature was divided into three stages of drying characterized by initial heating period, plateau temperature, and period of rising core temperature. Plateau temperature of heartwood material was higher and longer than that of sapwood material. 2. The predicting equation for change in drying rate of sapwood material was log y=-2.7925-0.0811x as function of time. That of heartwood material was log y=-3.3382-0.0468x. 3. Sapwood material reduced the moisture content from 59 to 2.5 percent in 45minutes. Heartwood material reduced the moisture content from 64 to 3.3 percent in 55 minutes. 4. Shrinkage during press drying were 20.4 percent in thickness direction and 2.5 percent in width direction. Recovery on equilibrium conditioning at 65 percent relative humidity and temperature of $20^{\circ}C$. were 11.4 percent in thickness direction and 49.4 percent in width direction. 5. Heartwood material developed severe honeycombing and moderate checking. The sapwood material dried without honeycombing, checking and collapse. All material kept wood flat.

This paper presents a new holistic development approach for the carbon continuous-fiber composite frame of an automotive sunroof assembly. The original steel frame has been designed to get higher bending stiffness with its corrugated cross-sectional shape. The new approach uses the prepregs of a fast cure epoxy and PCM manufacturing processing. For higher productivity, the new frames feature a very simple plat cross sectional shape but achieve high bending stiffness through the laminate design. The sandwich structure with a PET foam core was presented. The frames were made of carbon UD laminae covered single carbon fabric on the outer surfaces. The fabrics provide torsional stiffness and also hold the carbon UD fibers floating in the low viscous epoxy resin of prepregs at the curing temperature during processing. The final product yields approximately 18 % savings in weight compared with the original.

The bonding process of LCD panel is attaching an inner lead to an outer lead in the production line of LCD panel module. It is composed of an OLB process and a PCB bonding process. Since bonding tool assembly is one of the core parts of the bonding equipment that determines the durability and performance of the final product, much design efforts to enhance uniformity and efficiency of the process have been made. In this paper, FE analyses have been employed to determine the bonding tool size. Bonding tool of long bar shape has been simplified as a piece with same heater pitch, and appropriate boundary conditions such as convection and radiation are considered. Thermal analysis results by the FEM have been validated by the experiments. With the use of FE analysis varies design parameters and the corresponding effects have been evaluated. It was observed that the approach presented in this paper could be employed for the design of LCD module bonding tool.
