Performance Test of Low Temperature Waste Heat Recovery Heat Exchanger Using Self-excited Oscillating Heat Pipe (자려 진동형 히트 파이프를 이용한 저온 폐열 회수 열교환기의 성능 실험)

  • In this study, low temperature waste heat recovery heat exchanger was developed using a principle of self-excited oscillating heat pipe. The heat exchanger of serpentine type was composed of extruded flat aluminum tube with 6 channels (3 nm$\times$ 2.75nm) and louvered fin. The heat transfer area density of heat exchanger was $331.9 m^2/m^3$. Working fluid is R141b and charge ratio was 40% by volume. Heat transfer rate and the effectiveness of heat exchanger was primary concern of this study. As a result, the effectiveness of heat exchanger was about 0.4-0.67, and recovered waste heat rate was about 4.5 kW per one unit of heat exchanger.

Development of Flux for Aluminium Brazing (알루미늄 경납땜용 용제의 개발)

  • The object of the research is to develop the flux for aluminum brazing. Five kinds of flux were applied to brazing joint with fin and tube structure using same filler metal. To estimate the performance of the developed flux, products analysis, differential thermal test, grain size test, observation of crystalline structure, tensile test, corrosion test were made. From the results of experiment, the following conculsions were obtained. 1. The optimum composition ratio (Wt) of AlF$_3$ and KF was 50-60% : 40-50% 2. The optimum melting point of the flux was 567-578$^{\circ}C$.

  • The objective of this study is to develope a computer simulation model and estimate theoretically the transient performance characteristics of heat exchangers in an automotive air-conditioning system. To do that, the mathematical modelling of heat exchangers, such as evaporator and condenser, is presented first of all. For detail calculation, evaporator and condenser are divided into many sub-sections. Each sub-section is an elemental volume for transient modelling. The elemental volume is assumed to consist of three components, refrigerant, tube with fin, and air, and various properties including temperatures of three components are determined step along sub-sections. The properties of refrigerant R134a and air are calculated directly in the program. The heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop in single or two phase are also calculated by suitable empirical correlations. The overall tendencies of the simulation results were agreed well with those of actual situation.

An Experimental Study on Condensation Characteristics at Various Condensation Pressure of R407C (응축압력 변화에 따른 R407C의 응축특성에 관한 연구)

  • R407C is considered as alternative refrigerant of R22 for air conditioners. Experimental investigation is made to study the condensation heat transfer characteristics of slit fin-tube heat exchanger using alternative refrigerant, R407C. Experiments are carried out at condensation pressure of 2110 kPa and 1943 kPa with the degree of superheat of 1$0^{\circ}C$ and mass flux varying from 150 to 250 kg/$m^2$s for refrigerant side. The inlet air condition is dry bulb temperature of 35$^{\circ}C$, relative humidity of 50% and air velocity varying from 0.8 to 1.6 m/s. Experiments show that pressure drop gets smaller at a higher condensation pressure especially when condensation pressure is raised from 1943 to 2110 kPa. Heat transfer rate gets smaller at a lower condensation pressure in the range of experimental condition.

  • This paper represents the cold energy for liquefied nitrogen gas and cascade refrigerator. In this study, the vaporizer of liquefied nitrogen gas has the fin coil tube type with the dimension of inside diameter of 10mm and outside diameter of 12mm. Also, the total length of vaporizer is 20,000mm. The main experimental parameters are the mean velocity in duct and the supplied flow-rates of liquefied nitrogen gas. For the cascade refrigeration system, the refrigerants are ethane(R 170) in the high pressure stage and R 22 in the low pressure stage.

  • R407C is considered as an alternative refrigerant of R22 for air conditioners. An experiment was carried out to investigate the characteristics of the evaporation heat transfer and pressure drop for refrigerant R407C flowing in a fin-and-tube heat exchanger used for commercial air-conditioning unit. The experimental data were useful in analyze the effects of the temperature glide and superheat for R407C. Test were conducted at the conditions of inlet refrigerant evaporation temperature of 7$^{\circ}C$, inlet air relative humidity of 50%, and refrigerant mass fluxes varying from 150 to 250 kg/m$^2$s. Representative results show that the heat exchanger performance for R407C evaporation is significantly affected by the change of the flow pattern from two-phase to super-heated vapor flow.

  • This study aims to suggest an evaluation method of thermal environment using CFD, not an experiment, which is usual in the field. Model train is the newly introduced Mugunghwa train. Since its compartment occupies a large space and chairs and other accessories make it a complicated structure, 3-D calculation might take too much time and effort to make evaluation itself possible. Therefore, we suggest a 2-D model to replace the original 3-D model for averaged temperature and temperature distribution in the cabin.

  • R744 has been appropriated for substitute refrigerant, because of its high stability, and environment-friendly nature as a natural refrigerant. To analyze the cooling performance of a refrigeration system in a refrigerator truck using R744 according to the blocking ratio, an analytical model of the refrigeration system was developed under frost conditions, using EES. The performance of the refrigeration system was predicted with the indoor and outdoor air temperature, outdoor air velocity, and compressor speed. As a result, the system performance decreased, with the increase of frost growth. When the blocking ratio was 40.4% in the basic condition, the refrigeration capacity was decreased by 27.1%, compared to the non-frost condition.

  • The motion of a fluid in the closed annular cavity formed by two concentric vertical cylinders with externally finned tube has been analysed by a numerical solutions of the equation of momentum and energy. For the calculation procedure, the fluid is assumed to have constant thermo-dynamic and transporties except for the density, which is temperature-dependent in the buoyancy term of the vertical momentum equation (Boussinesq approximation). The govern ins equations for velocity and temperature are solved by a finite difference technique which incoorporates a scheme for treating the coupled variables. Results are presented for a range of the Rayleigh number and for various values of the fin height and the number of fins.

A study on the friction head loss in flat aluminum micro multi tubes with nonazeotropic refrigerant mixtures R-410A (비공비 혼합냉매 R-410A를 적용한 납작한 알루미늄 마이크로 멀티 튜브에서의 마찰손실에 관한 연구)

  • This study conducted a research as to condensation heat transfer friction loss headby using three types of flat micro multi-channel tubes with different processing of micro-fin and number of channels inside the pipes and different sizes of appearances. In addition, identical studies were conducted by using smoothing circular tubes with 5mm external diameter to study heat enhancement factor and pressure drop penalty factor. 1) The friction head loss showed an increase as the vapor quality and mass flux increased. In case of saturation temperature, it shows an increase as it gets lower. These factors are the reason occurring as the lower the saturation temperature is, the higher the density of refrigerant vapor gets. The influence of heat flux is similar as the dryness is low, but as it gets higher, it lowers in heat flux, and as the high temperature of high heat flux, it is a factor that occurs as the density gets lower. 2) RMS error of the in case of friction head loss, it showed to be predicted as 0.45~0.67 by Chisholm, Friedel, Lockhart and Martinelli. 3) As forfriction head loss penalty factor, the smaller the aspect ratio is, the larger the penalty factor gets, and as for the effect of micro-fin, the penalty factor increased because it decreases to the gas fluid the way groove for the refrigerant's flow.
