This study is to observe species identification and early life history of Gnathopogon strigatus and to use it as a basis for taxonomic studies and conservation of species. For the experiments, the mature adults were collected at the Wang-suk Stream located in Namyang-ju city, Gyeong-gi Province and eggs were artificially fertilized by the wet method in the laboratory. The shape of the fertilized egg was globular, adhesive, opaque white in color and had no oil globules. The fertilized egg was 1.66~1.88 mm (average 1.76 mm, n=30) in diameter. The blastular stage occurred at 3 hours 05 minutes after fertilization and the gastrular stage was detected at 8 hours 30 minutes after fertilization. The embryo began to hatch about 54 hrs after fertilization under water temperature of $23{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ and the newly hatched larva (yolksac larva) were 4.1~4.7 mm (mean 4.4 mm, n=20) in total length (TL). The fourth day after hatching, the postlarva were 5.4~5.9 mm (mean 5.6 mm, n=20) in total length, their york sacs were completely absorbed and Start eating Artemia sp. Ten days after hatching, flexion larva were begins Notochord flexion were 7.5~8.6 mm (mean 8.1 mm, n=20) in total length. Sixteenth day after hatching, postflexion larva were complete Notochord flexion were 8.2~9.7 mm (mean 9.1 mm, n=20) in total length. At thirty-eight days after hatching, Juvenile were arrive integer all fin rays and similar to those of adults were 11.3~15.5 mm (mean 13.3 mm, n=20) in total length.
Egg development and morphological change of larvae and juvenile of the Roughscale sole, Clidoderma asperrimum, were investigated in the present study. Adult fishes were collected on the East Sea, Korea, from 2017 to 2018 and reared in a circular water tank (Ø 6×1 m) at water temperature of 12.8±1.9℃. Fertilized eggs ranged from 1.42 to 1.59 mm (mean 1.51±0.04 mm, n=50) in diameter. The eggs were spherical in shape, transparent, floating and colorless. The egg yolk was separated from the egg membrane 60 mins post-fertilization (PF), and an embryo was formed in 62 hrs PF. More than 50% of the eggs hatched within 144 hrs PF in the range of 10.2~11℃(mean 10.8℃). The size of the newly hatched larvae were 4.22~4.64 mm (mean 4.53±0.16 mm) in total length (TL), their mouth and anus were not open yet. At 10 days after hatching, the preflexion larvae reached 5.88~6.62 mm (mean 6.31±0.33 mm) in TL, and the yolk absorption was completed and the mouth began to open. At 55 days after hatching the larvae reached to flexion larvae stage and they were 10.4~13.3 mm (mean 12.7±1.3 mm) in TL, and the tip of notochord was bent upward. At 120 days after hatching the larvae reached to juvenile stage and they were 35.3~40.5 mm (mean 39.5±2.4 mm) in TL. Their all fins had completed set of the fin-rays (D. 79~94: A. 63~75) and the juveniles adopted a benthic life.
The egg development and early life history of Tribolodon hakonensis that collected from the Seomjin River were studied. The fertilized eggs of the T. hakonensis were slightly adhesive and separated with a yellow yolk and no oil globule. The size of the eggs was an average of 2.89 mm (2.79~2.96) in diameter. Fifty percents of the embryos were hatched in about 63 hrs after fertilization at water temperature of 20℃. The newly hatched larvae showed average 6.92 mm (6.09~7.60) in total length. At 8 days after hatching, they were 13.75±0.67 mm (n=10) in total length and their yolk sacs were completely absorbed, opening mouth and anus (postflexion larvae stage). At 40 days after hatching, they became juvenile and reached 26.99±1.82 mm (n=10) in total length and all their fin rays were formed. At 137 days after hatching, the young fish were 72.63±10.7 mm (n=10) in total length and their body shape, color and behavior were similar to those of adult fish. The size of eggs and the larva after hatching significantly affected the initial growth among groups of genus Tribolodon, and the hatching time of fertilized eggs and the growth rate of the early life history according to the water temperate were different.
The rose bitterling, Rhodeus ocellatus (KNER) is commonly distributed in the fresh waters of Korea and Japan. On January 15, February 15, and March 18 in 1984, mature adults of rose bitterling were caught in the watercourse of Maeri, Kimhae, South Korea. The authors fertilized the eggs employing dry method in the laboratory on May 7, 16 and 25 in 1984. Hatched larvae were reared in small aquariums at $17{\sim}25.5^{\circ}C$ (average around $21.2^{\circ}C$). Mollusks, Anodonta woodiana in the gill chamber of which, rose bitterling lay eggs were caught in order to study natural spawning of the rose bitterling in the same watercourse. The eggs of this species are not adhesive and demersal. The size of the eggs varies from 2.54 to 2.75mm in long diameter and 1.45 to 1.65mm in short diameter. The eggs are cylindrical in form when they are extruded from ovipositor, immediately after entering water, but they acquire their distinctive form of a greatly elongated pear. Hatching took place in ca. 39 hours after fertilization. The newly hatched larvae were $2.65{\sim}2.70mm$ in total length possessing yolk sac and 13-14 myotomes. Thirteen days after hatching, the prelarvae attained 6.5 mm in total length, and the first melanophores appeared on the head, and the anterior part and sides of the yolk sac. One month after hatching, the postlarvae attained 8.5mm. in total length and emerged from the gills of the mollusks. Then the yolk sac was completely resorbed. Two months after hatching, the rose bitterling attained 14.4mm in total length, and entered the fingerling period of life. All the rays already present were the D. III, 11-12, A. III, 11-12, P. 10, V. 7. and a distinguishing, feature is the presence of a black pigment spot in the lobe of the dorsal fin.
This study was conducted to observe the early life history of sea bass, Lateolabrax japonicus. The fertilized eggs were spherical in shape and turned out to be separative and floated. Their membrane and yolk having 1~5 oil globule were transparent. Fertilized eggs were measured to be 1.33~1.46 mm in diameter. Hatching of eggs were started at 74 hrs 15 mins, 54 hrs 55 mins, 50 hrs 45 mins, after fertilization in water temperature $16.0^{\circ}C$, $18.0^{\circ}C$, $20.0^{\circ}C$ respectively. The newly hatching larvae were 3.79~3.97 mm in total length with 35~37 myomeres, and mouth and anus were closed. Melanophores were distributed on the up side of head, upper jaw and margins of the body. The 5 days after hatching larvae measured 4.78~5.24 mm in total length, yolk were completely absorbed, and transformed to postlarval stage. In this time, mouth of larvae was opened, and also melanophores were presented on the lower jaw. Head of larvae grew remarkably. The 21~22 days after hatching, total length of the larvae was 7.15~8.12 mm, the caudal fin rays began to differentiation. In 31 days after hatching, the larva were 8.46~9.16 mm in total length, and tip of the caudal notochord flexed $45^{\circ}$. The larvae reached to the juvenile stage with all the fins were developed at 61 days after hatching and attained 16.28~17.31 mm in total length.

In order to monitor the developmental features of embryos, larvae, and juveniles of Konoshiro Gizzard Shad Konosirus punctatus, the fertilized eggs were gotton using artificial insemination. Konosirus punctatus were caught in Mankyung-myeon, Kimjae, Jeollabuk-do at June of 2004, and experiments were carried out in Ichthyology laboratory in Chonnam National University. Konosirus punctatus spawned draft egg from March to June. The fertilized eggs were cultured in $19.0{\sim}23.0^{\circ}C$(mean, $21.2^{\circ}C)$. The eggs had spherical shape and the diameter is $1.14{\sim}1.34\;mm$(mean, 1.21 mm). The lens began to appear from 35 hr 53 min after fertilization. At the moment, the movement of larvae was more active, and the tail was separated completely from yolk, the heart had forms, and melanophore appeared. Hatching was observed from 37 hr 10 min after fertilization. The total length of the hatched larvae was $4.26{\sim}5.30\;mm$(mean, 4.96 mm), but the mouth and anus were not opened at the time when the larva had yolk sack, and had $22{\sim}27$ myometium, and the anus located just abdominal front of the tail fin, and melanophore accumulated in the eye. Post-larvae used yolk completely after 2 day of hatching, and the total length was $4.96{\sim}5.74\;mm$(mean, 5.24 mm). From 16 days after hatching, the tail had curved tail end, and appeared the stems for pectoral, dorsal, and caudal fins. At 53 days after hatching, the total length of post-larvae was $27.11{\sim}34.09\;mm$(mean, 30.11 mm), and the frontal part of head developed like an adult one. At this time, fins and body are transferred to those of adult Konosirus punctatus. Fishes have a different shape and location of melanophore even in the same family. This research was tried to elucidate the early developmental features of Konosirus punctatus, together with species-specific pattern of melanophore.
The purpose of present the study was to describe the spawning behavior and early life history of the grass puffer, Takifugu niphobles. The grass puffer was caught at the spawning ground on the coast Dolsan, Korea from May to the 1998. Artificial fertilization was carried out to get fertilied eggs. Spawning season was from the end of May to the beginning of July on the coast of the Dolsan, Korea. Form 2~6 days before the spring tide the aduct males and females began to aggregate in the shore water, and they spawned in the upper part of intertidal zone exposed to air among pebble stone. The fertilized eggs were demersal, transparent and spherical in shape, and its diameter were 0.87~0.95 mm with several oil globules of 0.0014~0.0540 mm. Hatching began about 146 hours after fertilization under water temperature $21.2{\sim}22.3^{\circ}C$. The newly-hatched larva was 2.02~2.24 mm in total length (TL, mean: 2.14 mm), with 22~24(8~9+14~15) myotomes, and mouth and anus was not yet open. In 3 days after hatching it was measured 2.64~2.93 mm in TL (mean: 2.76 mm), and yolk sac was completely absorbed and transformed to postlarval stage. In 15 days after hatching it was measured 4.43~4.82mm in TL (mean: 4.59mm), and the caudal notochord flexion started. The larvae reached the juvenile stage in 28 days after hatching and attained 7.55~7.65mm in TL (mean: 7.60mm), and all fin-rays were formed.
The egg development, early life history and spawning site characters of Korean endemic fish, Coreoleuciscus splendidus (Gobioninae), were investigated at the part of Jo-jong stream in Korea from May 2020. The fertilized eggs were 2.05~2.23 mm (mean, 2.13 mm) in diameter and had no oil globules. The embryo began to hatching about 98 hrs after fertilization under water temperature of 20±1℃. The newly-hatched larvae were 5.03~5.68 mm (mean, 5.31 mm) in total length (TL), and their mouth and anus were not opened. 4 days after hatching, Several rod-like cupulae were observed on the head and lateral side of the body at 6.95~7.89 mm (mean, 7.51 mm). 7 days after hatching, the post-larva stage were 8.39~9.29 mm (mean, 8.78 mm) in total length, and their york were completely absorbed. The cupulae were completely distinguished. They entered the juvenile stage when all fin-rays were formed at 29 days after hatching, and their TL were 14.16~17.04 mm (mean, 14.99 mm). Squamation was initiated on the caudal body at approximately 18.21~23.74 mm (mean, 30.28 mm), 38 days after hatching, and completed at 26.82~33.33 mm (mean, 19.42 mm), 73 days after hatching, the external characteristics from of juveniles were same to adults. The spawning site was characterized by bottom structure of pebble (64~16 mm) and gravel (16~2 mm), environmental conditions of the spawning sites were 6~18 cm in water depth, 0.43~0.73 m/sec in bottom water velocity. In spawning sites, an egg mass or separated eggs were located a small gap of under the pebble and gravel.
The embryonic and larval development of Chelon lauvergnii (Eydoux & Souleyet) was surveyed by incubating artificially inseminated eggs with parent fishes obtained at Kang-wha island in the mid-western coastal area of Korea on June, 1997. The fertilized eggs were transparent, spherical in shape, measuring 0.95~1.08 mm in diameter, having a large oil globule, and their perivitelline space narrow, and began to hatch at 40 hrs. in water temperature $22{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The newly hatched larvae were 2.35~2.68 mm in total length with 23 myomeres, anus opened, mouth closed, preanal length 58.7~61.6% of total length, oil globule located in posterior end of yolk sac. Melanophores, branch in shape, were distributed mainly along the ventro-lateral region of trunk part and a few on the anterior end of caudal part and surface of oil globule. The larvae measuring 3.08~3.36 mm in total length absorbed yolk material completely in 3 days after hatching, in which air bladder began to appear and mouth opened. In 8 days after hatching, the larva was measured 5.09 mm in total length, its posterior end of notochord began to flex upward and the caudal fin rays differentiated as 7, finfold of the second dorsal and anal fins appeared. In this time, melanophores, branch in shape, were concentrated in the anterior half region of the caudal part and a few also distributed on the top of head, snout region, ventral margin of lower jaw and isthmus region. In 12 days after hatching, the larva measuring 8.48 mm in total length completed all the fins (D. IV-9; P1. 16; P2. I, 5; A. II, 9) and reached to the juvenile stage. Melanophores, in this time, were distributed on the mid-lateral region of the caudal part in enlargment than before and a few also found in the dorso-lateral region of the trunk part, and in the cheek region.
The aucha perch, Coreoperca kawamebari was collected in Tam-jin river from February to June 1998. It was reared in the laboratory and observed the spawning behavior and early life history. Spawning season was from mid of April to the end of May in the Tam-jin river. The fertilized eggs were demersal of adhesive, transparent and spherical in shape. Egg diameter was 2.21~2.65 mm with several oil globule of 0.058~0.343 mm. Hatching occurred about 194 hours 23 minutes after fertilization at water temperature of $18{\sim}22^{\circ}C$. Newly-hatched larvae were 5.09~5.68 mm in total length(TL, mean: 5.38mm) with 10~11+18=28~29 myotomes and opened mouth and anus. Melanophores were distributed on the eye lens, on the head, around the yolk, on the dorsal part and the abdominal region of the trunk. After hatching 5 days larvae attained 6.12~6.68 mm in TL (mean: 6.47 mm), and the yolk sac was completely absorbed and transformed to postlarva stage. The larvae reached to the juvenile stage with all the fins were formed with complete set of fin rays (D. XII-12~13; A. III-8~10; P. 11~13; V. I-4~5) at the 22 days after hatching and of the larvae was 11.54 mm in total length. In 32 days after hatching, the juvenile was 13.05 mm in TL. This period was similar to adult in body form and the spot.
