  • A new filter-bank is proposed in order to track center frequency of narrow band signal. The two banks are connected in series-parallel. The master filter bank which is made of traditional filter bank detects the center frequency roughly. And the performance for tracking center frequency is greatly improved by the slave filter bank which is based on energy-difference estimator. Computer simulations show that it achieves a good tracking accuracy.

  • The para-unitary (PU) M band filter bank, which can beused for M band decomposition, has many useful properties. In this ppaer, attempts have been made to design and and analyze the linear phase para-unitary (LPPU) M band filter bank, which is appropriate to the image coding application. First, we derive a unified coding gain in terms of the correlation in the band, as well as the energy compaction. And M band filter bank has been designed, maximizing the new coding gain. Then, we analyze the image coding performance of the LPPU M band filter bank, such as the energy compaction, the correlation in the band and the entropy. From the analysis, it is shown that the coding gain for LPPU M band filter bank improves, and the coding gain for the LPPU 4 band filter bank approaches very closely to that for LPPU 8 band filter bank, as the length of the filter increases. This fact is also verified by the coding results on the real images.

  • In power quality monitoring, it is very important to detect disturbances (sag, swell, transient, and interruption) accurately. In this paper, a detection method for power quality disturbances by combining the filter bank system and adaptive filter is proposed. To decompose power signal, binary tree structured filter bank system is designed. In the filter bank system, the fundamental filter bank(QMF bank) is used as a module in each decomposing level. An adaptive filter is used to improve the detection accuracy of disturbances for each subband signal. In the adaptive filter, the measure of estimated error change is used to detect singular points of power quality disturbances. Computer simulations were performed on synthetic signals which have disturbances to assess the performance of the proposed method.

  • High-power communication jammer has to include the switched filter bank to eliminate the harmonic signals generated by amplifier. Generally, the switched filter bank consists of in-out switches and several filters. This paper describes the design of high-power switched filter bank, particularly the high-power filter bank operating over 20$\sim$110MHz frequency range. The filters designed have insertion loss less than 0.3dB, VSWR less than 1.25:1, and harmonic suppression more than 35dB. Also, the switched filter bank can endure upto 2kW high-power signal with very low harmonic level within $30{\mu}s$ switching speed.

  • In this paper a low-power DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform) design technique is proposed. As basic low-pass filter for analysis bank, comb filter is utilized, and in order to improve frequency response for the comb filter, a fourth order polynomial is also proposed. Another filters are designed by using perfect reconstruction conditions. The lowpass filter coefficients of the analysis filter bank are optimized based on the cost function and perfect reconstruction condition. The number of the multiplications and MSE(Mean Squared Error) performance of the proposed DWT filter bank are compared with those of the JPEG2000 (9, 7) filter bank. It is shown that number of multiplications of the proposed filter bank are saved with 33.3%, and MSE values of the proposed filter bank are also superior to those of the JPEG2000 (9, 7) filter bank.

  • In room acoustics, reverberation time is an important acoustic parameter. However it is often difficult to measure short reverberation times at low frequencies with a traditional band pass filter bank if the product of filter bandwidth (B) and reverberation time (T) is small. It it well known that the minimum permissible product of bandwidth and reverberation time of the traditional band pass filter is at least 16. This strict requirement makes it difficult to measure short reverberation times of an acoustic room at low frequencies exactly. In order to reduce this strict requirement, in the previous paper, the wavelet filter bank was developed and the minimum permissible product of bandwidth and reverberation time was replaced with 4. In the present paper it is demonstrated how the short reverberation times of an practical room at low frequencies are successfully measured by using the wavelet filter bank and the results are compared with the traditional method using a band past filer bank.

  • In this study, we propose the new filter bank that is adaptive filter bank using neural networks in time domain. Also, we proposed a new filter neuron as neuron with filter window, the structure and algorithm for filter banks. The performance of neural filter banks is shown from two examples. It show characteristics the simple structure and higher speed processing than traditional methods (filter banks in frequency domain, etc.). In many applications, the proposed method will provide the high performance to features detection of signals in time domain.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for designing a class of M-channel, causal, stable, perfect reconstruction, infinite impulse response (IIR), and parallel uniform discrete Fourier transform (DFT) filter banks. It is based on a previously proposed structure by Martinez et al. [1] for IIR digital filter design for sampling rate reduction. The proposed filter bank has a modular structure and is therefore very well suited for VLSI implementation. Moreover, the current structure is more efficient in terms of computational complexity than the most general IIR DFT filter bank, and this results in a reduced computational complexity by more than 50% in both the critically sampled and oversampled cases. In the polyphase oversampled DFT filter bank case, we get flexible stop-band attenuation, which is also taken care of in the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, combining features is proposed as a way to enhance the classification accuracy of sounds under noisy environments using the CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) structure. A robust log Mel-filter bank using Wiener filter and PNCCs (Power Normalized Cepstral Coefficients) are extracted to form a 2-dimensional feature that is used as input to the CNN structure. An ebird database is used to classify 43 types of bird species in their natural environment. To evaluate the performance of the combined features under noisy environments, the database is augmented with 3 types of noise under 4 different SNRs (Signal to Noise Ratios) (20 dB, 10 dB, 5 dB, 0 dB). The combined feature is compared to the log Mel-filter bank with and without incorporating the Wiener filter and the PNCCs. The combined feature is shown to outperform the other mentioned features under clean environments with a 1.34 % increase in overall average accuracy. Additionally, the accuracy under noisy environments at the 4 SNR levels is increased by 1.06 % and 0.65 % for shop and schoolyard noise backgrounds, respectively.
