  • The riles or intellectual property on computer systems have increasingly been exposed to such threats that they can be flowed out by internal users or outer attacks through the network. The File Outflow Monitoring System monitors file outflows at server by making the toe when users copy files on client computers into storage devices or print them, The monitoring system filters I/O Request packet by I/O Manager in kernel level if files are flowed out by copying, while it uses Win32 API hooking if printed. As a result, it has exactly made the log and monitored file outflows, which is proved through testing in Windows 2000 and XP.

  • Recently, advanced Internet applications such as Internet telephone, multimedia streaming, and file sharing have appeared. Especially, P2P or web-based file sharing applications have been notorious for their illegal usage of contents and massive traffic consumption by a few users. This paper presents a novel method to identify the P2P or web-based file names with traffic monitoring. For this purpose, we have utilized the Korean decoding method on the IP packet payload. From experiments, we have shown that the file names requested by BitTorrent, Clubbox, and Tple applications could be correctly identified.

  • In this paper, we propose a PC's self-monitoring system for protecting illegal outflow of important personal files, which are managed in the Windows environment PC. This paper is based on the idea that it should be a read (access) file operation in order to outflow files through the network. To compare the information (name, some content) obtained from all operations of the reading of the 'Windows File System Driver' and captured transmission packets of mini port of 'Windows NDIS (Network Driver Interface Specification) Driver', and, if two pieces of information match, this system will determine the transmission to user. In this paper, tentatively, we developed a function to gather file information about file read operation and developed a function for transmission packet capture. This demonstration implementation showed that the proposed process has validity and the proposed process verified that it does not significantly affect the PC's performance.

  • Computer viruses are increasing in number and are continually intellectualized as well. To cope with this problem, anti-virus tools such as a scanner and the monitoring program have been developed. But it is not guaranteed that these softwares will work in safety under MS-DOS' control. If the virus is run first, it can avoid the monitoring of anti-virus software or even can attack the anti-virus software. Therefore, anti-virus programs should be run before the system is infected. This paper presents a new PC starting mechanism which allows the PC system to start from a clean state after booting. For this mechanism, we build a new disk file system different from DOS' file system, and manage the two file systems heterogeneously. Our system is strong against boot viruses and recovers from infections automatically.

  • The boundary-based security system has the advantage of high operational efficiency and easy management of security solutions, and is suitable for denying external security threats. However, since it is operated on the premise of a trusted user, it is not suitable to deny security threats that occur from within. A zero trust access control model was proposed to solve this problem of the boundary-based security system. In the zero trust access control model, the security requirements for real-time security event monitoring must be satisfied. In this study, we propose a monitoring method for the most basic file access among real-time monitoring functions. The proposed monitoring method operates at the kernel level and has the advantage of fundamentally preventing monitoring evasion due to the user's file bypass access. However, this study focuses on the monitoring method, so additional research to extend it to the access control function should be continued.

  • The boundary-based security architecture has the advantage of easy deployment of security solutions and high operational efficiency. The boundary-based security architecture is easy to detect and block externally occurring security threats, but is inappropriate to block internally occurring security threats. Unfortunately, internal security threats are increasing in frequency. In order to solve this problem, a zero trust model has been proposed. The zero trust model requires a real-time monitoring function to analyze the behavior of a subject accessing various information resources. However, there is a limit to real-time monitoring of file access of a subject confirmed to be trusted in the system. Accordingly, this study proposes a method to monitor user's file access in real time. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed monitoring method, the target function was verified after the demonstration implementation. As a result, it was confirmed that the method proposed in this study can monitor access to files in real time.

  • This study designed a ship energy efficiency monitoring system based on a ship application system that provides maritime services by utilizing data collected onboard, and a ship-land integration system for integrated management and exchange of maritime data. The ship energy efficiency monitoring system was developed as a Windows application program and designed to use file based EDI communications. Its main functions include route planning to minimize fuel consumption, monitoring of energy consumption and gas emissions, analysis of ship energy efficiency and other data analysis. The system has been successfully implemented in actual ships.

  • Electronic documents are efficient to be created and managed, but they are liable to lose their originality because copies are created during distribution and delivery. For this reason, various security technologies for electronic documents have been applied. However, most security technologies currently used are for document management such as file access privilege control, file version and history management, and therefore can not be used in environments where authenticity is absolutely required, such as confidential documents. In this paper, we propose a method to detect document forgery and tampering through analysis of file system without installing an agent inside the instance operating system in cloud computing environment. BubbleDoc monitors the minimum amount of virtual volume storage in an instance, so it can efficiently detect forgery and tampering of documents. Experimental results show that the proposed technique has 0.16% disk read operation overhead when it is set to 1,000ms cycle for monitoring for document falsification and modulation detection.

  • With the development of ICT, as the era of the 4th industrial revolution arrives, the amount of data is enormous, and as big data technologies emerge, technologies for processing, storing, and processing data are becoming important. In this paper, we propose a system that detects events through monitoring and judges them using hash values because the damage to important files in case of leakage in industries and public places is serious nationally and property. As a research method, an optional event method is used to compare the hash value registered in advance after performing the encryption operation in the event of a file leakage, and then determine whether it is an important file. Monitoring of specific events minimizes system load, analyzes the signature, and determines it to improve accuracy. Confidentiality is improved by comparing and determining hash values pre-registered in the database. For future research, research on security solutions to prevent file leakage through networks and various paths is needed.
