  • This study aims to develop and apply problem Based learning classes through skin beauty basics and practical classes to foster experts close to the beauty care field. Students are presented with a problem to solve in practice in the field of skin care, and in order to solve the problem, intellectuals try to come up with a solution to solve the problem jointly. Conduct skin beauty learning classes that apply problem-based learning to students, and analyze the effects after taking the classes. As a result of this study, by presenting actual problems in the field, scientists were able to actually do what experts do, and it was possible to come up with various solutions to a given problem in the future, and to share parts to expect problem-solving abilities. These results suggest that problem-solving and the problem-centered learning process for problem-solving have a positive effect on improving his problem-solving ability.

  • This study introduces an engineering design class which is experimental in a sense that it is planned and implemented with three key concepts such as learner-centered education, living lab and community based learning. With the class run in being connected with one regional community in Seoul, it focuses on its educational effects acquired through the living lab-based approach. And this research investigates the student's experiences of when, what and how they learn in a learner-centered class. It shows that, rather than taking professor's one dimensional lectures in classroom, the students learn actively when they face with the problem in the field. Students have come to carry out engineering design from the perspective of stakeholders, not from the supplier or producer's perspective in the process of meeting with the problem in reality. Team based collaborative activities are crucial in the entire design process. More importantly, students' design products have been transformed into more useful and meaningful ones as stakeholders of the local community have participated into the students' works. However, we need to recognize that there are some important issues that need to be solved institutionally and systematically in order for such educations to spread. This study suggests several educational arrangements for those issues.

  • The equivalent source method(ESM) is used for the calculation of the internal pressure field for an enclosure which can have arbitrary boundary conditions and nay include internal objects which scatter the sound field. The advantage of using ESM is that it requires relatively low computing cost and is easy to model the internal diffracting objects. Typical ESM modeling uses two groups of equivalent source positions. One group includes the first order images of the source inside the enclosure. The Positions of the other group are usually on a spherical surface some distance outside the enclosure. The normal velocity on the surfaces of the enclosure walls is evaluated at a larger number of positions than there are equivalent sources. The sum of the squared difference between this velocity and the expected is minimized by adjusting the strength of the equivalent sources. This study is on the optimal far field sources positions when using the equivalent source method. In general, the far field sources are evenly distributed on a surface of a virtual sphere which is centered at the enclosure with a sufficiently large radius. In this study. optimal far field source locations are searched using simulated annealing method for various radii of spheres where far field sources are located. Simulation results showed that optimally located sources with adequate distance away from the enclosure center gave better result than sources with even distribution even with a smaller number of far field sources.

  • In this study, a problem-centered learning based STEAM field experience learning program was developed and the effects of applying it were investigated. The program was composed of 8 sessions by using problem-centered learning education method and integrating STEAM elements between disciplines. The contents of program are as follow. In the step of sharing problems and making a problem-solving plan, they understood the various examples and meanings of endangered species, explored the project activities, and made an inquiry plan. In the search and re-exploration phase, a smart device was used to investigate the appearance, habitat environment and cause of extinction for Clithon retropictus, and a site inquiry plan was established for each group. Then, they moved to the field to explore brackish-headed gallops and discuss ways to protect endangered species. In the step of creating a solution, a web-based report was produced as the final product using smart devices based on the results of the inquiry. In the presentation and evaluation stage, the produced web-based report was used to present each group, conduct mutual evaluation, and organize project activities. The developed program was applied to 6th grade 29 students enrolled in the J University Gifted Education Center. In order to find out the effectiveness of the program, tests of science process skill, creative problem-solving ability, and scientific attitude were conducted before and after of program learning, and the results were statistically analyzed by t-test. In addition, a STEAM program satisfaction test was conducted after project in order to find out the satisfaction of the class. As a result of application of the program, the results were significantly improved in openness, criticism, and creativity among the sub-factors of creative problem-solving ability and scientific attitude. Satisfaction with the STEAM program was also high, but no significant result was found in science process skill. Therefore, the program of this study could be influenced on improvement of creative problem-solving ability and scientific attitude of gifted students in elementary science.

  • Human-centered computing (HCC) as a field was defined several years ago. Since then, the Web has grown significantly, and so has its impact in society at every level, creating the grounds for a new Web science. In this paper, we examine the definitions of HCC and Web science, and discuss how they might be related. On the one hand, HCC can be viewed as a set of methodologies, and on the other hand, Web science can be viewed as a platform or repository, from which behavioral data can be drawn. We examine the relationship between the two, and summarize three different research approaches that in many ways show this intersection.

  • Our gorvernment announced an educational reformation bill to establish the institutional foundation of educational system on May 31, in 1995. To secure the open education which is to foster students' creativity, individualization and personalization, it was requested that the past teacher-centered system should be changed to learner-centered system. To gurantee such a change, however, there are many conditions that has to be satisfied first. I think that the most important thing for the new system is a close interaction between teachers and students. To accomplish a successful interaction, the teachers' understanding and attitude toward their students must change at first. The purpose of this study is to examine what kind of understanding and attitude the teachers need, and what kind of roles teachers must take charge of. At the same time, I suggest that we need to establish a Teacher Center to give teachers a seperate place to learn new theories, and to exchange among themselves the informations they got from the actual field experience.

  • The strongly interactive flow field near a missile afterbody containing a centered exhaust jet is numerically investigated. The thin shear layer and full formulation of compressible, Reynolds I averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved. A time-dependent implicit numericals algorithm is used to obtain solution for a variety of flow conditions. Turbulence closure is implemented by the Baldwin-Lomax algebraic eddy viscosity model. An adaptive grid technique is adopted to resolve flow regimes with large gradients and to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the computation, Numerical results show good agreemement with experimental data in all regimes.

  • People with visual impairments are difficult to go to education facility by themselves, because of their limited visual ability, orientation, and usability field, so they prefer dormitories. Those dormitories playa role in living space, education, communication and culture function. Therefore those facilities planned more user centered design, since they are influenced by user actability and their values. User centered designs that match between the user and space are understood as well as their characteristics and behavior. Especially for understanding their activity, observation is conducted about their behavior in dormitories. Thus the purpose of this study is suggested to be a basic source that planning about residential facility for people with visual impairments through interview and observation investigation by analysis that they resident in space motion and performance.

  • This study presented the development of a user centered school facility fire safety evaluation model that would support fire safety evaluation, which is globally recognized as being important in terms of school safety, to be more efficiently implemented in the school field mainly by students. The study consisted of five steps. First, actual condition survey tools were developed based on the major fire safety evaluation items derived through literature review. Second, the characteristics of domestic school facilities in terms of fire safety were developed using the survey tools. Third, an evaluation model at a level utilizable by students was developed based on the foregoing characteristics. Fourth, the applicability of the model was verified through a trial application of the model to elementary school students. Finally, legal and institutional improvement plans and fire safety education materials were presented through a policy proposal.

The advantage of using ESM is that it requires relatively low computing cost and is easy to model the internal diffracting objects. In this study, optimal far field source locations are searched using simulated annealing method and simulation results showed that optimally located sources gave better accuracy even with a smaller number of far field sources.
