  • The results of previous tests by many researchers have been compiled to evaluate the flexural strength of steel-fiber reinforced concrete beams. Existing prediction equations for flexural strength of such beams were examined, and a new equation based on mechanical and empirical observations, was proposed. In other words, the constitutive models for steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC) were proposed, which incorporate compressive and tensile strength. A steel model might also exhibit stain-hardening characteristics. Predictions based on the model are compared with the experimental data. For the collection of tests, a variation of the Henager equations, modified to apply to fiber-reinforced concrete beams, provided reliable estimates of flexural strength. The proposed equations accounted for the influence of fiber-volume fraction, fiber aspect ratio, concrete compressive strength and flexural steel reinforcement ratio. The proposed equations gave a good estimation for 129 flexural specimens evaluated.

  • Inorganic basalt fiber (BF) is a novel sort of commercial concrete fiber which is made with basalt rocks. Previous studies have not sufficiently handled the behavior of self-compacted concrete, at elevated temperature, containing basalt fiber. Present endeavor covers experimental work to examine the characteristics of this material at high temperature considering different fiber content and applied temperature. Different tests were carried out to measure the mechanical properties such as compressive strength (fc), modulus of elasticity (E), Poisson's ratio, splitting tensile strength (fsplit), flexural strength (fflex), and slant shear strength (fslant) of HSC and hybrid concrete. Gene expression programming (GEP) was employed to propose new constitutive relationships depending on experimental data. It was noticed from the testing records that there is no remarkable effect of BF on the Poisson's ratio and modulus of elasticity of self-compacted concrete. The flexural strength of basalt fiber self-compacted concrete was not sensitive to temperature in comparison to other mechanical properties of concrete. Fiber volume fraction of 0.25% was found to be the optimum to some extend according to degradation of strength. The proposed GEP models were in good matching with the experimental results.

  • Investigations on the behavior of steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete beams with shear confinement are accomplished to determine their ultimate shear strength including diagonal tension strength. The parameters varied were the shear confinement ratio(Ps), and fiber volume fraction(Vs). Ultimate shear strength increased significantly in steel fiber reinforced concrete beam without shear confinement. In steel- fiber reinforced high strength concrete beams with shear confinement, there is no increase of ultimate shear strength but shows much beneficial effects of Ductility Capacity.

  • This study developed Fiber/Particle Hybrid MMCs and analyzed their mechanical properties. Using $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3f$ and $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3p$ with the fiber to particle ratio of 1:1, 1:3, 1:5 hybrid preform and MMCs are fabricated. For the analysis of the mechanical properties, three point bending tests were preformed for the preform and tensile test for the MMCs. The experimental results show that the hybrid MMCs can be successfully fabricated using the equipment of fiber preform fabrication system and squeeze casting method. And as the amount of particle in hybrid MMCs increases, the tensile strength, elastic modulus and the volume fraction of reinforcement increases.

  • This study, the present study wishes to develop a model that estimates shear strength characteristics of steel fiber reinforced concrete using artifical neural network models. Neural network models, developed as mathematical models, are being widely used not only in its original purpose of pattern recognition, but also in application fields by the function's nonlinear loaming and interpolar ability Neural network has a repetitive rotation algorithm that can cyclically and repeatedly estimate system conditions and parameter ideal values, and it can be used in the modeling of the nonlinear system by nonlinear characteristic functions that construct the system.

  • In this study, free vibration analyses of symmetric laminated cantilever and simply supported damaged composite beams are investigated by using finite element method (FEM). Free vibration responses of damaged beams are examined using Euler Bernoulli beam and classical lamination theories. A computer code is developed by using MATLAB software to determine the natural frequencies of a damaged beam. The local damage zone is assumed to be on the surface lamina of the beam by broken fibers after impact. The damaged zone is modeled as a unidirectional discontinuous lamina with $0^{\circ}$ orientations in this study. Fiber volume fraction ($v_f$), fiber aspect ratio ($L_f/d_f$), damage length ($L_D$) and its location (${\lambda}/L$), fiber orientation and stacking sequence parameters effects on natural frequencies are investigated. These parameters are affected the natural frequency values significantly.

  • The purpose of this experimental research is to evaluate the workability and strength properties of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete containing amorphous steel fiber and organic fiber. For this purpose, the hybrid fiber reinforced concrete containing amorphous steel fiber(ASF) with polyamide(PA) and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) fiber, respectively were made according to their total volume fraction of 0.5% for water-binder ratio of 33%, and then the characteristics such as the workability, compressive strength, and flexural strength of those were investigated. It was observed from the test results that the workability and compressive strength at 7 and 28 days were decreased and the flexural strength at 7 and 28 days was increased with increasing ASF and decreasing organic fiber.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the impact resistant performance of steel short fiber-reinforced cement based composites (SFRCCs) containing 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0% volume fraction of steel short fibers subjected to high velocity impact of steel projectile (the diameter of 19.05mm and the mass of 28.13g). The gunpowder impact facility was used for impact tests, and the impact velocity was from about 350 to 700m/s. The specimens were damaged in various failure modes, which are penetration, scabbing, and perforation. Comparing with Plain specimen, SFRCCs have superior capacity on the scabbing limit, and slightly bulged in the back side under the impact velocity of 700m/s. In addition, the impact resistant performance of SFRCCs improved with increase of steel short fiber volume ratio. The fibers play an important role in controlling the local damage of SFRCCs.

  • Aluminum alloy matrix composites reinforced with various amounts of $Al_2O_3$ short fibers have been produced by rheo-compocasting accompanied by hot pressing. When composites reinforced with fibers are produced by rheo-compocasting, S-L process is the most effective method for homogeneous dispersion of fibers. A sound composites with the improved orientation(3 dimension${\rightarrow}$2 dimension) of the fibers and increased volume fraction of them have been fabricated through the hot pressing of the casted composites. Fibers are broken down when rheo-compocasting, hot pressing, and $T_6$ treating. Among them fibers are broken down most heavily in the hot pressing. And even in the case of the composite reinforced with 30 vol% fibers, which showed the hardest fiber break down, aspect ratio(11.6) is higher than critical aspect ratio(10.7). The fiber strengthening effect in the composites has showed upto 573K. As the test temperature increases to the range of 573K, the effect has been higher. The fracture of composites is controlled by fiber from room temperature to 473K, but the fracture of composites is controlled by interface between fiber and matrix alloy above 473K.
