현대 니트 패션에 표현된 젠더 플루이드 특성 연구 (A study on the characteristics of gender fluidity expressed in modern knit fashion)

  • This study examines how the concept of gender fluidity-viewing gender identity as a fluid and wide spectrum-is represented in modern knit fashion collections. The period spring/summer 2017-fall/winter 2021, when gender-related fashion keywords started attracting attention, was limited to the last five years, and the results of a case analysis focused on a total of 357 knit fashion photos are as follows. First, the androgynous compromise through the mixing of heterogeneous elements appears as a mix-and-match style due to the patchwork of heterogeneous materials and forms that borrow or share masculinity and femininity. Second, it was confirmed that the dismantling exaggeration caused by the destruction of the size and form of clothes was an avant-garde image that exaggerated the size or length of clothes or destroyed ideas and forms. Third, the exposed sensuality caused by the deformation of the fluid knitting technique was shown in the form of proudly expressing sexuality by exposing the body either using the cut-out technique or through the loose texture of the knit. Knit fashion can highlight decorative effects using handcrafted techniques and express a detailed or coarse sense of organization depending on the density. In addition, since it is possible to create a complex image by juxtaposing and mixing various knit structures, it was confirmed that it is a suitable material for expressing gender fluidity flowing between men and women in fashion.

코울리지의 「크리스터벨」 -'여성적 글쓰기' (Coleridge's "Christabel" as l'écriture féminine)

  • Coleridge's fame as a poet rests on the achievement of the mystery poems, "The Anceint Mariner," "Kubla Khan," and "Christabel." Coleridge's achievement in "Christabel" goes far beyond what previous critics have imagined. Coleridge is one of a handful of great writers who are included as representatives of androgyny. Throughout his life, Coleridge was accustomed to point out feminine qualities within himself. "Christabel" exemplifies the kind of writing contemporary feminist theories call l'écriture féminine. L'écriture féminine is not necessarily the creation of women but may rather be the works of those who refuse to identify with the father and the laws of paternal discourse. "Christabel" becomes Coleridge's most daring symbolic story. "Christabel" appears in its full significance as a vehicle for some profound insights into the dynamics of relationships between men and women, fathers and daughters. Through her deformity, Geraldine is actually the casualty of her father's hatred of women, and is the embodiment of all its anti-virtual aspects. The poem shows no bitterness against women, only compassion and remorse. Coleridge is sympathetically presenting Christabel's suffering as a woman at the hands of an overmastering man. Also, "Christabel" demonstrates woman power as well. In fact, the one person whose tales have any real effect within this narrative is the ambiguous Geraldine. Geraldine excels at story-telling, at making words act for her. Perhaps, despite the appearance of the surface, in which men hold all the cards, it is in fact women, or the feminine, so necessary to procreation and creativity, who hold sway here. This apparent dominion of the feminine derives at least partly from Coleridge's use of the conventions of that feminine genre, the Gothic romance. L'écriture féminine is a concept defined by its divergence from a dominant cultural norm. One may speculate that the fragmentary state of "Christabel" and "Kubla Khan" is in fact congruent with this mode of writing. If these poems imply a theoretical écriture féminine, they are by definition "incomplete," for completeness is a standard of patriarchal language and culture. More perplexing even than the other "mystery poems," "Christabel" is the true fragment of the three.

Effects of Storytelling in Advertising on Consumers' Empathy

  • Differentiated positioning becomes increasingly difficult when brand salience weakens. Also, the daily increase in new media use and information load has led to a social climate that regards advertising stimuli as spamming. For these reasons, the focus of advertisement-related communication is shifting from persuading consumers through the direct delivery of information to an emphasis on appealing to their emotions using matching stimuli to enhance persuasion effects. Recently, both academia and industry have increasingly shown an interest in storytelling methods that can generate positive emotional responses and attitude changes by arousing consumers' narrative processing. The purpose of storytelling is to elicit consumers' emotional experience to meet the objectives of advertisement producers. Therefore, the most important requirement for storytelling in advertising is that it evokes consumers' sympathy for the main character in the advertisement. This does not involve advertisements directly persuading consumers, but rather, consumers themselves finding an answer through the advertisement's story. Thus, consumers have an indirect experience regarding the product features and usage through empathy with the advertisement's main character. In this study, we took the results of a precedent study as the starting point, according to which consumers' emotional response can be altered depending on the storytelling methods adopted for storytelling ads. Previous studies have reported that drama-type and vignette-type storytelling methods have a considerably different impact on the emotional responses of advertising audiences, due to their different structural characteristics. Thus, this study aims to verify that emotional response aroused by different types of advertisement storytelling (drama ads vs. vignette ads) can be controlled by the socio-psychological gender difference of advertising audiences and that the interaction effects between the socio-psychological gender differences of the audience and the gender stereotype of emotions to which advertisements appeal can exert an influence on emotional responses to types of storytelling in advertising. To achieve this, an experiment was conducted employing a between-group design consisting of 2 (storytelling type: drama ads vs. vignette ads) × 2 (socio-psychological gender of the audience: masculinity vs. femininity) × 2 (advertising appeal emotion type: male stereotype emotion vs. female stereotype emotion). The experiment revealed that the femininity group displayed a strong and consistent empathy for drama ads regardless of whether the ads appealed to masculine or feminine emotions, whereas the masculinity group displayed a stronger empathy for drama ads appealing to the emotional types matching its own gender as well as for vignette ads. The theoretical contribution of this study is significant in that it sheds light on the controllability of the audiences' emotional responses to advertisement storytelling depending on their socio-psychological gender and gender stereotype of emotions appealed to through advertising. Specifically, its considerable practical contribution consists in easing unnecessary creative constraints by comprehensively analyzing essential advertising strategic factors such as the target consumers' gender and the objective of the advertisement, in contrast to the oversimplified view of previous studies that considered emotional responses to storytelling ads were determined by the different types of production techniques used. This study revealed that emotional response to advertisement storytelling varies depending on the target gender of and emotion type appealed to by the advertisement. This suggests that an understanding of the targeted gender is necessary prior to producing an advertisement and that in deciding on an advertisement storytelling type, strategic attention should be directed to the advertisement's appeal concept or emotion type. Thus, it is safe to use drama-type storytelling that expresses masculine emotions (ex. fun, happy, encouraged) when the advertisement target, like Bacchus, includes both men and women. For brands and advertisements targeting only women (ex. female clothes), it is more effective to use a drama-type storytelling method that expresses feminine emotions (lovely, romantic, sad). The drama method can be still more effective than the vignette when women are the main target and a masculine concept-based creative is to be produced. However, when male consumers are targeted and the brand concept or advertisement concept is focused on feminine emotions (ex. romantic), vignette ads can more effectively induce empathy than drama ads.

한국 민담에서 살펴본 여성의 부성 콤플렉스 - <심청전>과 <바리공주> 중심으로 - (Womans' Father Complex in Fairy-Tales - Focused on two Korean Fairy-Tales <Shimchung> und <Barli Princess> -)

  • 현대 사회에서 부성 콤플렉스의 여성이 증가하는 이유를 크게 두 가지 관점에서 고려할 수 있다. 우선 사회적 요구가 여성으로 하여금 기존의 여성의 입장에서 벗어나 새로운 역할을 강요하고 있다. 이러한 우리 시대의 사회적 요구는 본성을 억압하도록 하는 부성적 특성의 외압으로 작용한다. 따라서 현대의 여성은 저절로 부성상의 지배 하에 놓이게 되는 부성 콤플렉스의 여성이 된다. 또 다른 관점에서 보면 무의식의 보상성에 의하여 부성 콤플렉스의 여성 유형이 증가하고 있다고 볼 수도 있다. 부성상은 언제나 집단의식과 관련되는 심상이다. 집단의식에 문제가 생기고, 이에 대한 해결을 위하여 소위 부성상의 부름을 받은 여성의 경우도 부성 콤플렉스의 여성이 될 것이다. 부성콤플렉스의 여성이 증가하고 있는 현대의 추세는 그만큼 집단 사회의 문제를 폭로하는 것이고, 그에 대한 해결의 욕구가 절실해진 것으로 이해될 수 있다. 부성상의 영향력은 여성에게 긍정적이든 부정적이든 병리적 현상을 야기할 정도로 치명적이다. 그러나 모든 원형상이 그러하듯 그러한 영향력의 이면에는 궁극적으로 도달하고자 하는 목적의미가 숨어 있다. 이를 고려한다면 치명적으로 작용하는 부성상의 요구를 제대로 이해하고, 성공적으로 실현하는 것은, 부성 콤플렉스의 여성 개인에게서는 부성상의 극복이자 동시에 부성상의 치유이고, 궁극적으로는 집단의식이 가진 문제를 해결하게 되는 것이다. 연구를 위하여 부성상의 영향 하에 있는 여성 인물상을 다루는 두 민담을 선택하였다. <심청전>은 긍정적인 부성 콤플렉스의 여성을 위하여, 그리고 <바리공주>는 부정적 부성 콤플렉스의 여성을 위하여 선택되었다. 연구의 진행은 부성상과 관련된 여성 주인공의 민담의 분석심리학적 해석을 통하여 크게 세 가지 국면으로 살펴보려고 하였다. 그 첫 번째는 민담의 해석을 통하여 부성상의 지배 하에 있는 여성이 겪는 전형적인 문제점을 살펴보는 것이다. 특히 부성이 갖는 긍정적 영향력과 부정적 영향력을 여성의 삶과 연결시켜 구체적으로 다룰 것이다. 두 번째는 민담에서 강력한 부성상의 지배로부터 여성 주인공이 어떻게 벗어나는지를 살펴보게 될 것이다. 이는 부성 콤플렉스의 여성 유형이 여성성을 회복하고 전(全)인격적 실현에 이르는 길을 제시하는 내용이 된다. 마지막으로 부성상의 지배 하에 있게 된 여성은 궁극적으로 집단이 가진 문제를 해결하고 치유하도록 부름을 받았다는 관점을 제시할 것이다. 여성 주인공이 성공적으로 부성상에서 벗어나 오히려 부성상의 문제를 해결한다면 이는 집단의 삶에 새로운 면모를 가져다줄 하나의 전형이 될 것이다. 이것이 두민담을 통하여 다루려는 부성 콤플렉스의 진정한 목적의미가 될 것이다.

Appraisal of Breast Cancer Symptoms by Iranian Women: Entangled Cognitive, Emotional and Socio-Cultural Responses

  • Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Iranian women and usually features delayed presentation and late diagnosis. Interpretation of symptoms, as the most important step, has a significant impact on patient delay in seeking treatment. There is a dearth of studies on symptom appraisal and the process leading to seeking help in breast cancer patients. This study explored the perceptions and experiences of Iranian women with self-detected possible breast cancer symptoms. Materials and Methods: A qualitative method was conducted involving in-depth semi-structured interviews with 27 Iranian women with self-discovered breast cancer symptoms. Participants were purposefully selected from women who attended Cancer Institute of Tehran University of Medical Sciences during June 2012 to August 2013. The audiotaped interviews were transcribed and analyzed using conventional content analysis with MAXQDA soft ware version 10. The trustworthiness of the study was verified by prolonged engagement, member validation of codes, and thick description. Results: The main concepts emerging from data analysis were categorized in four categories: symptom recognition, labeling of symptoms, interactive understanding, and confronting the fear of cancer. Symptom recognition through breast self-examination, symptom monitoring and employing prior knowledge distinguished normal from abnormal symptoms and accompanied with perception of being at risk of breast cancer led to symptom labeling. Social interaction by selective disclosure and receiving reassurance from a consultant led to confirmation or redefinition of the situation. Perceived seriousness of the situation and social meanings of breast cancer as a stigmatized and incurable illness associated with loss of femininity were reasons for patient worries and fear. Conclusions: This study emphasized that entangled cognitive, emotional and socio-cultural responses affecting understanding of symptom seriousness require further investigation. It is suggested that programs aimed at shortening patient delay in breast cancer should be focused on improving women's knowledge and self-awareness of breast cancer, in addition to correcting their social beliefs.

장 폴 골티에 작품에 나타난 내적 해체경향 (The Internal Deconstruction Trend Expressed in the Works of Jean Paul Gaultier)

  • This study reviews the concept and characteristics of the deconstruction philosophy in order to analyze the major aspects of the fashion world called the deconstruction fashion based on the deconstruction philosophy, and analyzes the works of Jean Paul Gaultier in terms of Derrida's deconstruction theory. The scope of this research is from 1980 to present, and this study fashion on the many kinds of literature on philosophy, aesthetics and literary criticism, and the domestic and international fashion journals and magazines. The deconstructionism is the philosophical theory which denies the traditionally recognized logocentric metaphysical theory and refuses the closed world and pursues the open world, opposing the dichotomic theory which is the deep-rooted tradition of the Western philosophy. The results of analyses centering on the internal deconstruction trend expressed in the works of Jean Paul Gaultier are as follows. 1 The past style combined with the present appears in the form of the entirely new trace, not the past emotion and meaning in Gaultier's works transcending the time and space. 2 Gaultier presents the unconventional intermeaning of meanings, producing various possibilities according to the wearing method of the wearer by layering several clothes. 3. Gaultier breaks from masculinity and femininity in the intertextuality of gender, and decomposes the fixed idea of men's or ladies'wear through the design sharing bisexual text. 4. In the intertextuality of T.P.O., Gaultier presents the problem of how to wear by mixing different items through obscuring the division of the nature of time, space, and purpose. Especially Gaultier can be called the first designer who, worthy of the father of the deconstructionism, has introduced in the fashion making inner wear like outer wear. 5. In the intertextuality of coordination, Gaultier presents a new perspective of coordination through free combination and contrast, raising a question about the man-made harmony criterion and deconstructing the clothes. On the other hand, Gaultier expresses the intertextuality of the material through the heterogeneous combination of the material. 6. The decomposition trend expressed in the many works of Gaultier reflects an open mind presenting a new perspective through the distortion of the form, exaggeration, and break from the existing construction method. 7. The decentering trend in the works of Gaultier is found to deconstruct the Western-dominated elements against the background of subcultural elements, the elements borrowed from the minority race, md the Oriental culture. 8. The discontinuity clothes of Gaultier present the disordered principle of design without the uniform rules, and express the unrestrained freedom without captivation by the preconceived idea through the disruption of the dress and its ornaments just like Gaultier.

한국영화의상(韓國映畵衣裳)과 대중(大衆)패션의 연관성(聯關性)에 관(關)한 고찰(考察) -1998년(年) 이후(以後) Retro 현상(現狀)을 중심(中心)으로- (A study on the Relationship of Korean Film Costumes and Popular Fashion - Focused on the Retro Phenomenon Since the 1998 -)

  • This study examines the meaning of retro phenomenon and its background of establishment that showed in the pop culture. And it finds out the retro phenomena in the domestic fashion trends. And it defines the characteristics of dress and its ornament in the retro phenomena that have shown in the Korean movies since 1998. By doing this, it examines the relationship between movie dress and street fashion while it compares the styles in the 50s 70s with the retro fashion that is currently emerging. The results of the study are as follows. First, the hippie look in the 60s represented a distinctive characteristic of how they rejected traditional lifestyles. Hippie's romantic femininity that showed in the movie of 'Oollala Sisters' received a spotlight as a necessary style in the modern fashion trend. Second, while the funk look in the 70s was a style of disorder and disgust, the movie gives it a possibility of fashion with a converted sense as a vanguard fashion while embracing the funk look. Third, the layered look in the 70s was expressed with layered items, while the current layered look emphasizes layered textiles as shown in the movie of 'Hae-Jeok Became The Disco King'. Fourth, the feminine look which was a symbol of restraint shows a mixed style with delicate feminine items as shown in the movies, 'The Harmonium In My Memory' and 'Ditto'. Fifth, the training look that has two stripes as shown in the movie 'the Friends' is considered as casual wear, which is functional and easy to move at the end of the 20th century. Finally, the romantic images of school look, as shown in the movies 'the Friends' and 'Hae-Jeok Became The Disco King', show a renewed mixed & unique style. This study has its significance in the sense that it verifies the fact that the movie dress does not show the characteristics of the works that momentarily passes the screen, but it becomes a foundation of the future fashion design. At this time that Korean movies are highly developing, a through study on the movie fashion will not only give a direction of future in the modern fashion, but it will also give a developing momentum in the Korean movie dress.

멜로장르 TV드라마에 나타나는 여성 주인공의 전형성 (1992년부터 2012년까지) (Typicality of Female Main Characters Appearing in the TV Melodrama Genre -From 1992 till 2012-)

  • 멜로장르는 그동안의 선행연구를 살펴 볼 때 여타의 장르보다 여성상 설정에 있어 전형적인 여성상이 재현 된다는 논의가 있어 왔다. 그러나 이러한 선행연구에는 양적인 방법의 연구가 없어 멜로장르의 보수성과 전형성에 대해 입증했다고 보기 어렵다. 본 연구는 TV드라마 멜로장르 여성상의 전형성에 대해서 양적인 연구방법과 전체 장르 여성상과의 비교분석을 사용하여 검증 하고자 하였다. 연구 결과 TV 멜로장르 여성주인공은 전체장르 여성상에 비해 그 변화상이 적었다. 전체 장르 여성상이 외모에 있어 비여성성이 증가하였고 타인과의 관계가 능동적으로 변한 반면 멜로장르에서는 전형적인 여성적 외모의 여성과 수동적인 여성상이 1992년부터 2012년까지 유지되고 있었다. 여성이 남성의 애인과 아내의 자격으로 남성의 자본을 공유하던 체제에서 여성적인 아름다운 외모는 남성의 선택 가능성을 높이는 여성의 육체자본으로 활용 되었다. 그러나 여성의 경제력이 향상된 현재에도 멜로장르에서는 유독 전형적인 여성상이 유지되고 있다. 여성시청자가 주를 이루는 멜로장르에서 나타나는 이러한 여성상의 전형성은 현대 여성들의 양가적이고 모순적인 욕망을 대변하는 것으로 보여 진다.

한 중 일 궁궐 건축의 이미지 특성 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Image characteristics in Traditional Palaces of Korea, China and Japan)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 한 중 일 궁궐 건축의 이미지 표현 어휘를 활용하여 한 중 일 삼국의 이미지를 비교분석 함으로써 한국 고유의 이미지 특성을 규명하는 데 있다. 이와 같은 연구를 진행하기 위한 방법으로는 조사도구의 선정과 이미지 표현 어휘 수집 및 추출을 위한 문헌 조사방법, 자유 연상 측정법, 그리고 설문조사 방법이 사용되었다. 조사도구로 사용된 한 중 일 궁궐 건축을 대표하는 사진으로는 한국의 창덕궁, 중국의 자금성, 일본의 니조성의 외부 5점, 내부 2점씩의 사진을 이용하였으며, 설문지는 47개의 어휘를 선정하여 5점 척도로 구성하였다. 이상과 같은 방법으로 조사 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 한 중 일 궁궐 건축의 대표적인 이미지 표현 어휘는 장식성, 안정감, 개방성, 선적특성, 비친근성, 여성성등 크게 6가지 요인 구조로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 한 중 일 궁귈 건축에 나타나는 이미지 특성을 종합하여 공통성과 차별성을 파악한 결과, 삼국의 공통적인 이미지 특성은 선적 특성으로 나타났으며, 찬국의 이미지 특성으로는 안정감, 곡선적 특성, 여성성, 중국의 이미지 특성으로는 장식성과 직선적 특성, 일본의 이미지 특성으로는 단순성, 비친근성, 개방성의 특성을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 한 중 일 삼국 궁궐 건축 이미지의 공통성과 차별성을 바탕으로 한국 고유의 이미지 특성을 규명함에 있어 궁궐의 외부와 내부에서 모두 나타난 안정감과 곡선적 특성을 한국의 주요 이미지 특성으로 파악하였다. 이러한 연구 과정을 통해 동아시아 삼국의 이미지 특성의 공통점과 차이점을 파악해 볼 수 있었으며, 오랜 시간동안 지리적 인 영향과 문화적인 면으로 인해 중국과 일본의 문화권에서 중간적, 매개적 문화의 입장으로 평가되었던 한국의 이미지에 대한 고유한 특성을 파악할 수 있었다.

소셜 비디오 플랫폼 상에서 '나'의 개성과 '다른 사람'의 개성이 사용자의 긍정성과 소속감에 미치는 영향 - 사회적 영향이론과 자기 점검 이론 관점 (The Effect of Appearance of 'the other' and 'I' to Positive Attitude and Sense of Community on Social Video Platform - Based on Social Impact Theory and Self-Monitoring Theory)

  • 최근 들어 사회적인 상호작용 방식이 동영상을 통해 정보를 주고받는 방식으로 변하고 있다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 '나'와 '다른 사람'의 영상을 구성요소로 하는 새로운 소셜 비디오 플랫폼을 제안하고자 한다. '다른 사람'의 개성(Personality)과 '나'의 개성이 '나'에게 어떤 영향을 주는지 알아보고, 2가지 요소를 어떻게 나타내주어야 하는지 알아보기 위해 사회적 영향 이론(Social Impact Theory)과 자기 점검 이론(Self-Monitoring Theory)을 적용하여 영상을 시청하는 '나'의 개성과 '다른 사람'의 개성이 사용자의 긍정성과 소속감에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보았다. 그리고 이를 실증적으로 검증하기 위해 실제 소셜 비디오 플랫폼을 구축하여 실험을 진행하였다. 그 결과, 사용자들은 자신의 영상이 화면에 제시되었을 때, 긍정성을 더 많이 느끼는 것을 확인하였다. 하지만 자신의 영상이 함께 제시되면서, 주변영상에 나타난 다른 사람들의 모습이 여성성이 높아질수록 오히려 느끼는 긍정성은 줄어드는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 다른 사람들의 모습이 남성성이 높을 때, 사용자는 소속감을 더 크게 느끼는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 새로운 소셜 비디오 플랫폼의 구성과 형태에 대한 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
