The purpose of this study was to investigate fast-food consumption and it's nutrient density, and the correlation between subject's characteristics and consumption frequency of fast-foods among middle school students. The questionnaires were distributed to 150 male and 190 female students in Cheongju city. The data were analyzed using SAS and statistics used were percent of frequency, $X^2$-test, t-test, and pearson's correlation coefficient. The main reasons for using fast-food restaurants were 'good taste' and 'convenience'. The major concerns when the subjects choose fast-foods were 'taste ($65.9\%$), price ($20.3\%$) and 'nutrition'($6.0\%$). The consumption pattern of fast-foods go as follows: twice a month ($42.3\%$), once a week ($31.5\%$), and less than once a week. The number of fast food items that the subjects ate for one meal was two ($46.0\%$) or three ($33.2\%$). The most frequently chosen combination of foods for number of two choices was beefburger and cola. The mean average energy intake from fast foods for one meal was 620.7 kcal for male, 504.5 kcal for female. The energy ratio of carbohydrate : protein fat from fast foods was 49 : 14 : 43, which means fat intake is much higher than recommended level ($20\%$). Fiber was appeared to be the lowest on the nutrient density which was $17.7\%$ of the recommended level for Koreans, vitamin C was next ($22.8\%$ for male, $20.1\%$ for female). In mineral, iron was the lowest ($71.8\%$ for male, $67.1\%$ for female), and protein was over $100\%$ for both males and females. Frequency of fast food intake was positively correlated with eating frequency of the salty, the sweets, him, caffeine containing foods, instant noodles, and cookies. In conclusion, frequent consumption of fast foods can lead unbalanced nutrient intakes for middle school students, and those who consumed fast foods frequently showed undesirable food habits in their daily meal. Therefore, nutrition education for middle school students should be needed to encourage them to choose more nutritious food and have healthier dietary pattern.
This study was to investigate the appearance orientation and body shape management of adolescents in Daejeon. A survey was performed from December 16th~28th 2015 and 355 respondents were collected for analysis. 45.9% of the subjects were middle school students, whereas 54.1% of them were high school ones. The female and high school students tended to show higher ratings in lookism tendency and interests in beauty care, whereas male and middle school students tended to show higher ratings in physical satisfaction than the others. More than 40% of the respondents perceived them fatter than the standard weight, in particular, girls and the ones with opposite-sex friend perceived them fatter than their actual conditions. On body shape satisfaction, female and high school students indicated lower satisfaction. For body shape management, 75% of the female and 40% of the male students had tried weight control. The frequency and the duration time of exercise had higher for boys than girls, and the ones with opposite-sex friend than without. For methods of weight control, girls were more likely to do diet control, whereas boys were more committed to exercise. In general, students with high appearance orientation tended to control taking snacks and fast food or did diet control for body shape management. This study examined the relationships between clothing values, wearing behaviors and the attitudes toward underwear for female students. A survey of female middle and high school students was conducted. 584 questionnaires, collected from April to May, 2009, were analyzed using descriptive statistics, cross tabulation analysis, t-test, factor analysis, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Economic and aesthetic value were found to be significantly higher than other clothing values amongst older students while students in coeducational schools regarded aesthetic properties of clothing as being more important (p<.05). Girl students' most pursued attitudes toward underwear was modesty. According to age of students and the type of school they attended there were significant differences in students' underwear wearing behaviors. A high level of correlation between clothing values and attitudes toward underwear was found. Aesthetic value out of the clothing values showed a high correlation with esthetics/sexual attractiveness out of the attitudes toward underwear. Aesthetics/sexual attractiveness out of the attitudes toward underwear was shown to be most influential on underwear wearing behaviors. There would be a necessity for emphasizing the wearing of girdle and slip.
This study aims to investigate the online class preference depending on students' gender and school level. To achieve this aim, the study conducted a survey on 4,803 elementary, middle, and high school students in 17 regions nationwide. The valid data of 4,524 were then analyzed using the Apriori algorithm to discern the associated patterns of the online class preference corresponding to their gender and school level. As a result, a total of 16 rules, including 7 from elementary school students, 4 from middle school students, and 5 from high school students were derived. To be specific, elementary school male students preferred software-based classes whereas elementary female students preferred maker-based classes. In the case of middle school, both male and female students preferred virtual experience-based classes. On the other hand, high school students had a higher preference for subject-specific lecture-based classes. The study findings can serve as empirical evidence for explaining the needs of online classes perceived by K-12 students. In addition, this study can be used as basic research to present and suggest areas of improvement for diversifying online classes. Future studies can further conduct in-depth analysis on the development of various online class activities and models, the design of online class platforms, and the female students' career motivation in the field of science and technology.
These days effective science education programs are required for girls to encourage them to pursue their career in science and engineering areas. This paper presents the preliminary results of an analysis performed to measure the effectiveness of a middle school education program, in which a science fiction movie as a multimedia educational material is shown to students and afterward discussion and review process for the scientific subjects included in the movie are given to them. The analysis is based on a study of students' responses on surveys performed after showing the science fiction movies during a science camp and a regular school class. The survey results of female students are compared with those of male students. The results indicate that the education program using science fiction movies could be more effective to female students than to male students in motivating and enhancing their interest in scientific subjects. A preliminary guide and afterward review and discussion on the scientific contents dealt in the movie turned out to be helpful to enhance the effectiveness of this science education program.

The purpose of this study is to examine middle school students' environmental worldviews, focusing on the following: 'Technocentric (TC)', 'Ecocentric (EC)', and 'Sustainable Development (SD)' environmental worldviews. The instrument surveying the worldviews of middle school students comprised two components: 'natural environment' and 'human action & environment'. The 'natural environment' component consisted of four categories. These were the value of humans in nature, the value of natural environments, nature reigned by humans, and the equilibrium sustaining power of environmental ecosystems. The 'human action & environment' component also consisted of four categories. These were the depletion of energy & resources, technology development, economic growth, and the severity of environmental problems. The subjects were 376 middle school students (152 males and 224 females), who were selected from 10 middle schools, and they answered question items by themselves through an online survey system. They displayed more 'Sustainable Development environmental worldviews' and 'Ecocentric environmental worldviews' than 'Technocentric environmental worldviews'. Furthermore, the female students displayed more 'Sustainable Development environmental worldviews' than the males. Hence, it is necessary to implement educational approaches that address and relate to the sustainable development environmental worldviews of middle school students.

Methods: Data were collected from 544 students in J city, Korea during December 2010 to February 2011. The nurse's image was measured by the instrument developed by Yang (1998). Nursing experiences and nurse's role in media was measured by self-administered questionnaires with 8 questions. Statistical analysis was made with t-test and ANOVA using SPSS win 18.0. Result: The score on personal image was the highest, while the score on social image was the lowest. Elementary school students reported a positive image compared with middle and high school students. Male students had a more positive image than female students. Of various media, students had more experiences related to nurses from TV rather than internet sites, books and newspaper/magazines. Especially, the nurse's role on TV 'seemed to be an assistant of a doctor' was rated the highest by the students. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a strategy to improve the social image of the nurse through TV by providing correct information on the nurse's role. For this purpose, it is required to consistently monitor and analyze the nurse's role shown in media.
