  • In this paper an ANFIS(Adativo Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System)- based fault detection and diagnosis for a closed loop control system is proposed. The proposed diagnostic system contains two ANFIS. One is run as a parallel model within the model in closed loop control(MCL) and the other is run as a series-parallel model within the process in closed loop(PCL) for the generation of relevant symptoms for fault diagnosis. These symptoms are further processed by another classification logic with simple rules and neural network for process and controller fault diagnosis. Experimental results for a DC shunt motor control system illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed diagnostic scheme.

  • To increase reliability and performance of an IMS(Intelligent Manufacturing System), fault tolerant control based on an accurate fault diagnosis is needed. In this paper, robot FDI(fault detection and identification) is proposed for IMS where the robot is controlled with state estimates of a nonlinear filter using a mathematical robot model. The Chi-square distribution is applied fault detection and fault size is estimated by a proposed bias filter. Performance of the proposed algorithm is tested by simulation for studies.

  • Identification of steady-state is the first step in developing a fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) system. In a complete FDD system, the steady-state detector will be included as a module in a self-learning algorithm which enables the working system's reference model to "tune" itself to its particular installation. In this study, a steady-state detector of a residential air conditioner based on moving windows was designed. Seven representing measurements were selected as key features for steady-state detection. The optimized moving window size and the feature thresholds was suggested through startup transient test and no-fault steady-state test. Performance of the steady-state detector was verified during indoor load change test. From the research, the general methodology to design a moving window steady-state detector was provided for vapor compression applications.

  • A scheme for on-line fault detection and diagnosis of an air-handling unit is presented. The fault detection scheme uses residuals which are generated by comparing each measurement with analytical redundancies computed from the reference models. In this paper, artificial neural networks (ANNs) are used to estimate analytical redundancy and to classify faults. The Lebenburg-Marquardt algorithm is used to train feed forward ANNs that provide estimates of continuous states and diagnosis results. The simulation result demonstrated that the ANNs can effectively detect and diagnose faults in the highly non-linear and complex HVAC systems.

  • This paper introduces a implementation of fault detection for national highway line 3. Fault detection system was installed and operated on national highway line 3, environmental elements caused by abnormal status or faults has often happened. Therefore, the function of fault detection system is to speedy notify fault site, cause as well as scale of fault to manager. Though the fault detection and diagnosis system has been imported in the field of process of water and electric power, it is just beginning step in the field of ITS(Intelligent Transportation Systems).   • Fault detection and diagnostic (FDD) systems have the potential to reduce equipment downtime, service costs, and utility costs. In this study, model based algorithm and fuzzy algorithm were used to detect and diagnose various fault at System multi-air conditioner. various fault include the Refrigerant Low charging, Fouling of Indoor Heat Exchanger, Fouling of Outdoor Heat Exchanger A experimental verification was conducted in the 6HP System multi-air conditioner on an 8-floor building. Test results showed diagnosis result about 78 $\~$ 90$\%$ for given faults. This Study lays the foundation fur future work on develope the real-time fault detection and diagnosis system for the System multi-air conditioner.

  • The health conditions of in-service civil infrastructures can be evaluated by employing structural health monitoring technology. A reliable health evaluation result depends heavily on the quality of the data collected from the structural monitoring sensor network. Hence, the problem of sensor fault diagnosis has gained considerable attention in recent years. In this paper, an innovative sensor fault diagnosis method that focuses on fault detection and isolation stages has been proposed. The dynamic or auto-regressive characteristic is firstly utilized to build a multivariable statistical model that measures the correlations of the currently collected structural responses and the future possible ones in combination with the canonical correlation analysis. Two different fault detection statistics are then defined based on the above multivariable statistical model for deciding whether a fault or failure occurred in the sensor network. After that, two corresponding fault isolation indices are deduced through the contribution analysis methodology to identify the faulty sensor. Case studies, using a benchmark structure developed for bridge health monitoring, are considered in the research and demonstrate the superiority of the new proposed sensor fault diagnosis method over the traditional principal component analysis-based and the dynamic principal component analysis-based methods.

  • The primary task of machine fault diagnosis is to judge whether the current state is normal or damaged, so it is a typical binary classification problem with mutual exclusion. Mutually exclusive events and out-of-domain detection have one thing in common: there are two types of data and no intersection. We proposed a fusion model method to improve the accuracy of machine fault diagnosis, which is based on the mutual exclusivity of events and the commonality of out-of-distribution detection, and finally generalized to all binary classification problems. It is reported that the performance of a convolutional neural network (CNN) will decrease as the recognition type increases, so the variational auto-encoder (VAE) is used as the primary model. Two VAE models are used to train the machine's normal and fault sound data. Two reconstruction probabilities will be obtained during the test. The smaller value is transformed into a correction value of another value according to the mutually exclusive characteristics. Finally, the classification result is obtained according to the fusion algorithm. Filtering normal data features from fault data features is proposed, which shields the interference and makes the fault features more prominent. We confirm that good performance improvements have been achieved in the machine fault detection data set, and the results are better than most mainstream models.

  • This paper proposes a fault detection and recovery mechanism for a fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system, and provides detailed techniques for its implementation. This paper considers the fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system which has dual layer structure from the LLC sublayer down to the physical layer to cope with the faults of those layers. For a good fault detection, a redundant and hierarchical fault supervision architecture is proposed and its implementation technique for a stable detection operation is provided. Information for the fault location is provided from data reported with a fault detection and obtained by an additional network diagnosis. The faults are recovered by the stand-by sparing method applied for a dual network composed of two equivalent networks. A network switch mechanism is proposed to achieve a reliable and stable network function. A fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system is implemented by applying the proposed fault detection and recovery mechanism.
