  • MPLS which integrates routing of layer 3 and switching of layer 2, enables support for fast forwarding, traffic engineering and virtual private network services. GSMP is open interface protocol between a label switch and a controller, and it provides connection, configuration, event, performance management and synchronization. In the GSMP open interface, the functions of network management can be located either in the controller or in the label switch. To simplify the label switch and enhance the efficiency of resources, we adopt the network management model, in which the SNMP agent is located in the controller and is interworked with the GSMP. We presented the interworking scenrios between the GSMP and the network management of MPLS. We implemented the controller to verify the realization of our adopted network management model, and measured the connection setup delay of the provisioned connection.

  • In this work, we present simple schematics for a three-terminal graphene-based nanoelectromechanical switch with the vertical electrode, and we investigated their operational dynamics via classical molecular dynamics simulations. The main structure is both the vertical pin electrode grown in the center of the square hole and the graphene covering on the hole. The potential difference between the bottom gate of the hole and the graphene of the top cover is applied to deflect the graphene. By performing classical molecular dynamic simulations, we investigate the nanoelectromechanical properties of a three-terminal graphene-based nanoelectromechanical switch with vertical pin electrode, which can be switched by the externally applied force. The elastostatic energy of the deflected graphene is also very important factor to analyze the three-terminal graphene-based nanoelectromechanical switch. This simulation work explicitly demonstrated that such devices are applicable to nanoscale sensors and quantum computing, as well as ultra-fast-response switching devices.

  • Because of computational burden and complex topology of substation, a transmission overload relief using circuit-breaker switching was very complex and difficult. However, a on-line algorithm for reducing the overloads in transmission lines has made progress due to the advance of IT technology. This paper describes the methodology for alleviating the overloads in transmission lines by circuit-breaker switching. First, the severe contingency lists and substations were selected from the results of contingency analysis. Then the switch combinations are determined using circuit-breakers of the selected substation. The topology changes are limited to equipment outage, bus split, island split, bus merge and island merge. Finally, the fast screening and full analysis methods are used to analyze the overload in transmission lines. To verify the performance of the proposed methodology, we performed a comprehensive test for both test system and large-scale power systems. The results of these tests showed that the proposed methodology can accurately alleviate the overloads in transmission lines from online data and can be applied to on-line applications.

  • In this paper, novel topology for fast response of various loads is proposed. The windup phenomenon appears and results in performance degradation when the PI controller output is saturated. A new anti-windup PI controller is proposed to improve the control performance of variable speed motor drives, and it is experimentally applied to the speed control of a hysteresis current-controlled SRM driven by an asymmetry bridge converter. The experimental results show that the speed response has much improved performance, such as small overshoot and fast settling time, over the conventional PI control.

  • Handover is very important to support the mobility of user because wireless ATM networks have smaller cell size such as micro/pico cell for broadband mobile multimedia service In this paper, we propose dynamic path reservation handover scheme for fast inter-MSC (Mobile Switching Center) handovers To reduce the handover delay for connection re-routing, the proposed scheme reserves virtual channels from nearest common node to neighbor MSC in advance Especially, our handover scheme predicts the number of inter-MSC handover calls at each period by the prediction algorithm and reserve virtual channels The simulation and analysis results show that our scheme reduce handover complexity and has higher reservation channel utilization, compared with DVCT scheme.

  • This paper presents a new Leading edge modulation Buck converter operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) for the pulse voltage input. In the slave output of the LLC half-bridge multi-resonant converter, to regulate the direct chopper's output voltage, its PWM switch is controlled by the leading edge modulation. The principles of this proposed LEM control method and the fast dynamics in inductor current based on the converter impulse response are studied. The theoretical results are verified through an experimental prototype of the 100W 60inch PDP Address power module.

  • IETF's FMIPv6 protocol enables a mobile node to switch to the reactive mode of handover operation when the prediction of the movement is incorrect. In this case, the mobile node may experience severe service disruption due to large handover latency and packet loss. In order to solve this problem, we propose a fast mobile IP handover with multiple pre-registrations. In the proposed approach, the new temporary IP addresses are prepared in advance at multiple locations where the mobile node may probably move into. In this case, even though the prediction is wrong, the mobile node can move into the alternative locations without causing service disruption. We have designed and implemented a prototype system, and measured the performance of the proposed system. The experimental results show that the proposed approach can reduce the handover latency drastically.

  • In this paper, a wideband ultra-high speed & high purity discrete frequency synthesizer having minimum 2.5 MHz step size was proposed. To achieve fast and wideband operation, discrete frequencies were synthesized by mixing of 3 different pre-synthesized 16 frequencies made from fixed PLL and frequency dividers. Frequencies with discrete 2.5 MHz step were produced in 710~1,610 MHz. The measured hopping response time was 350 nsec average, output level was 21.5 dBm average with 2.65 dB flatness, spurious and harmonics level were suppressed below -60 dBc, and phase noise was -94 dBc/Hz@100 Hz. Also, a new measurement method for synthesizer response time was described.

  • This paper describes a step-down AC voltage regulator using an AC chopper and auxiliary transformer, which is a series connected to the main input. The detail design of the AC regulator, logic and PWM pattern of the AC chopper is described and the three-phase AC regulator using two singlephase AC choppers with a three transformer configuration is proposed for three-phase application. The proposed three-phase system has the advantages of lower system cost due to reduced switch number and gate driver circuit as well as advantages of decreased size and weight because it uses a series compensated scheme. The proposed AC regulator has many benefits such as fast voltage control, high efficiency and simple control logic. Experimental results indicate that it can be used as a step-down AC voltage regulator for power saving purposes very efficiently.

  • This paper presents a diagnostic method for a sparse matrix converter that detects faults in any single switch or a pair of switches. The sparse matrix converter is functionally equivalent to the standard matrix converter but has a reduced number of switches. The proposed diagnostic method is based in the measurement of input and output currents. The currents have respective characteristic according to the location of faulty switches. This method not only detects the switches of open-circuit fault but identifies the location of the faulty switching devices without complicated calculations. The simulation and experimental results verify that, based on the proposed method, the fault of sparse matrix converter can be easily and fast detected.
