  • Fashion brands communicate with consumers through the use of fashion films that are effective in the delivery of the image. This is because digital media (such as fashion films) are popular and accessible as well as effective in attracting people's attention. The reasons why fashion films have become a new fashion media among many others is becuase they are based on an existing platform. This study will examine offline platforms of fashion film: flagship store, fashion exhibition, and fashion show. The offline platform of a fashion film is a physical space where a fashion film can be exhibited and viewed as a medium that can effectively convey fashion film to consumers. As a research method, the concept of an offline platform of fashion film is established based on a literature review of fashion films and platform that is followed by an empirical case study. The study results show that the offline platform of a fashion film is in the progress of turning into an autotelic space where the consumption of such culture as cinema and theater has become possible.

As for the research methodology, literary research was undertaken to study psychoanalytical and socioeconomic contexts in which virtuality has been formed. In addition, demonstrative studies on styles were undertaken through the analysis of photos in modern fashion magazine. With the explosive diffusion of the Internet since the 1990s, people have created a new identity in cyber space. Indeed, computers have made it possible for human beings to make virtual bodies in any way they want. Through the experiment of creating the figures that they dreamed of in their childhood buy could not embody in their actual life, people are making up for their narcissistic ego of their childhood. With the advent of the cyber society, dreams have been realized in cyber space, which in turn has influenced reality and finally had an effect on fashion. In cyber space, People try to break away from their bodies by combining elements of a different nature from them. They are dying hair and skin, and using holographic fabric for fashion, metallic color and geometric pattern for cosmetics. In pursuit of omnipotent beings, people have depicted models as flying in a weightless state and floating in the water within dress of undefined silhouette, so that they can be shown as transcending the law of nature. Furthermore, a variety of cultures newly appearing as dominant in cyber space have constantly interacted with actual life and formed an collage of heterogeneous cultures in fashion.

  • This study attempted to make a comparative analysis of dress and architecture to investigate the spatial effect of transparency expressed in fashion. As a result, the following findings were obtained: First, the openness of the space. It means that the human body or the dress inside it can be seen through or the inside space is opened. The volume, form and color of the undergarment seen through this transparent outer garment brings about any change to design. Also, it can be found that the role of the space is further extended as the inside space is seen through outwardly due to the outer garment. Second, interpenetration of the internal and external space. That the human body and the undergarment are seen through due to transparent dress brings about the linkage between spaces and opens the inside outwardly. Third, the briskness of the space. The trait of transparency that exposes the object behind outwardly as it is causes its form and space to be activated and conveys its spatial briskness.

  • In this paper we examine the patterns of the subcultural fashion styles in the 20th century in terms of various subcultures in the period. First, we define the concept of the subcultural fashion styles and in turn, examine the subcultural fashion styles from 1950s to 1990s while focusing on the way each generation resisted against the mainstream through its styles. The subcultural fashion styles examined and analyzed in this study are mainly British and American styles. some of European and Western Indian styles are also included. In this paper, a subcultural fashion style is understood as a way of deviate or resistant expression within a society. It differentiates itself from the main style by deliberately and publicly asserting its own identity. And as a result, it is realized in a form of a fashion with its repressed subconsciousness, with resistance to the alienation from the society, and with deviation from the normative ethics and the morality of a society. In conclusion, we classify the subcultural fashion styles into two patterns based on their form of resistance which tries to distance itself from the ritual code of the day: the dressing of the escape from time and the dressing of the escape from space. The first pattern is characterized by nostalgia or futurism, and includes psychedelic, rastafarian, raver, techno style. The second Pattern includes surfer, folky, hippy, new age traveller, cyberpunk style. Especially, an emphasis is given on ethnicity, naturalism, or a closed space within a city in dressing of the escape from space.
