  • A predictive model of wind speed in the wind farm has very important meanings. This paper presents an estimation model of wind speed based on time series analysis using the observed wind data at Hangyeong Wind Farm in Jeju island, and verification of the predictive model. In case of Hangyeong Wind Farm and Haengwon Wind Farm, The ARIMA(Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) predictive model was appropriate, and the wind speed estimation model was developed by means of parametric estimation using Maximum likelihood Estimation.

  • A seven-month-old Hanwoo steer was presented immediately after transport with respiratory symptoms including a nasal discharge, depression, and anorexia. Though repeated treatments, bronchopneumonia had not been improved and had persisted for 10 months. Then, obstructive breath sound was heard. A cyst adjacent to the epiglottis could be observed with respiratory endoscopy. Consequently, chronic bronchopneumonia induced laryngeal cyst formation, resulting in obstructive dyspnea. And respiratory endoscopy may be useful for differentiating the causes of dyspnea in bovine clinical practice.

  • Researchers have different views on impact of information system use on productivity. The differences are fueled by 'the productivity paradox' insisted by Brynjofsson(1993). This paper intend to quantitate impacts of information system and to test the productivity paradox of using the information system. Restricted Maximumlikelihood Estimation(RMLE) method is applied on data from 81 farms adopting Pigplan system. The results find positive productivity improvement with information systems in swine farm. Adopting Pigplan system increases 0.52 in PSY(pigs per sow per year) and 0.087 in sow turnover. When it comes to region and farm size, region has impact on both PSY and sow turnover, while farm size does not. This result infers that local cooperatives, regardless of farm size, differentiate the impacts of the information system, implying that the ability to utilize information systems should be improved in organizational level.

  • The Purpose of this paper is to establish development strategies for sustainability of environment-Friendly agriculture based on farm awareness analysis. To analysis farm management, a series of farm household surveys were conducted on farmers residing in Embong-Myun. The sample size of the survey is 108 respectively. As a survey result, satisfaction level about market stability and understanding of upper organization is high, on the contrary, awareness of related organization is low in a relative sense. Most of farmers reveal their intention to sustain environment-Friendly agriculture but future agriculturalist and an ageing society that one face as well. In order to establish development strategies for sustainability of environment-Friendly agriculture, an infrastructure should be consistently expanded. On the other hand, self-supporting ability of farmer's organization and education system attempt to expand for sustainability.

  • This case study surveyed management situations of environmentally friendly farming (EFF) and their awareness situations. Farmers are aging as an average age of 62-year old. The EFF did not increase farmer's income, however, farm income of EFF was more than that of conventional farming. Farm household liabilities showed large deviation among farmers. Livestock and greenhouse farm households have more liabilities because of facilities and feed cost. Farmers of EFF have been also cultivating conventional farming, but they don't plan much conversion intention of conventional farming into EFF owing to lack of differentiated and stable market for their environment-friendly agriculture products. And they are guessing that EFF income will usually not increase more. For increasing of EFF income, they think that it is necessary to enlarge production area, change to high-income crop, develop processing foods, change to organic farming and so on.

  • The overall focus of this study was to identify marketing and promotion strategies that can maintain and enhance environmentally friendly farm and organic production and processing activities. This is particularly important as the volume of environmentally friendly farm and organic produce that is generally available is increasing, and significant players, such as Organic Marketing Initiatives(OMI) and conventional marketing co-operatives, are becoming involved in the market. The rapid increase in production of environmentally friendly farm products and organic food is creating new and more complex challenges for marketing, from vegetable box schemes large co-operatives supplying the precise quality and volume required by supermarkets. A possible strategy for many farmers is to co-operate in regionally or nationally operating marketing initiatives. The main objective of any public relations(PR) activity should to enhance publicity and to improve an OMIs image. No promotion, no perception of OMI performance.

  • A fish feed being used most widely in aquacultural farm is a moist pellet (MP) feed which has been being prepared by mixing of commercial dry feed and nutritional oil to raw fish ky. The two major problems in the use of MP feed is to be readily dispersed in water of an aquacultural farm, and to cause lipid oxidation and bacteria infection during storage. The former induce an environmental pollution of the farm and the latter lower nutritional values and develop fish diseasees. (omitted)

  • This paper aims at studing on a multi-purpose sampling design involving both a farm population survey and a livestock survey. Some features of this design are firstly to equalize the sampling errorsamong Shi-Gun (county) estimates, secondly, to make an efforts to increase the precision by introducing a purpose sample into the probability sample. There are two types of purpose samples according to sampling units; one is farm, the otheris enumeration district. A criterion of demarcation for selecting the farm purposesamle was investigated.

  • This paper is aims at identifying the minimum farm size of the greenhouse vegetable cooperatives. Farm cooperative is one of the institutional measurments for the seeking of economy of scale which could not be found in family farm. In this paper 5 cooperatives and 5 farmhouseholds which have been managed vegetable greenhouse were surveyed. The results are as follows; First, cooperatives had 29.3% less on the fixed costs, and received 43% more on prices than general vegetable farmhouseholds. This means that the cooperatives have economy of scale. Second, to establish full organized coopratives, cooperative sizes must be more than 4,582 pyung, considering the government target which will be loaned 80% goverment loan of total facility costs with no subsidy.

  • An ocean buoy energy farm is considered for Green energy generation and delivery to small towns along the Korean coast. The present study presents that the floating buoy-type energy farm appears to be sufficiently feasible for trapping more energy compared to affixed cylinder duck array. It is also seen from the numerical results that the resonated waves between spaced buoys are further trapped by floating buoy motion. Our numerical study is analyzed by a plane-wave approximation, in which evanescent mode effects are included in a modified mild-slope equation based on the scattering characteristics for a single buoy.
