청소년의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향 요인 (Influencing Factors on Self-Esteem in Adolescents)

  • Purpose: This research has been conducted in order to understand the major factors that affect self-esteem of adolescents. Methods: Data was collected by questionnaires from 1155 students at middle and high school in Seoul and Kyungkido, Korea. The Instrument tools utilized in this study were self-esteem, body-image, problematic behavior, depression, school adjustment, social support tool and thoroughly modified to verify validity and reliability. The collected data have been analyzed using SPSS 11.0 program. The variable of family harmony and counseling partner was treated as a dummy variable. Seven outliers which were bigger than 3 in absolute value were found, so after taking them off, Multiple Regression was used for further analysis. Result: The major factors that affect self-esteem of adolescents were depression, social support, body-image, problematic behavior, school adjustment, and family harmony, which explained $54.7\%$ of self-esteem. Conclusion: It has been confirmed that the regression equation model of this research may serve as a self-esteem prediction factors in adolescents.

장애형제가 있는 청소년이 지각한 부모의 차별적 양육행동과 사회적 지지가 자아존중감 및 내재화 문제에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Parental Differential Treatment and Social Support on the Self-esteem and Internalized Problems among Adolescents with Siblings with Special Needs)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of parental differential treatment and social support perceived by adolescents with siblings with special needs on their self-esteem and internalized problems. The subjects comprised one hundred 12- to 18-year-old adolescents with siblings with special needs. The major results of this study were as follows. First, there were significant differences in adolescents' self-esteem by participation in support programs for siblings of children with special needs. Second, there was no significant effect of parental differential treatment on adolescents' self-esteem. Third, there was a significant effect of social support (family, friends, and teachers) on adolescents' self-esteem. Fourth, there was no effects of paternal differential parenting on adolescents' internalized problems. However, there was a significant effect of differential maternal affection on adolescents' internalized problems. Fifth, there was a significant effect of social support, especially in terms of support provided by friends, on adolescents' internalized problems. In conclusion, social support and differential maternal affection both have an important role in adolescents' self-esteem and internalized problems.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the mother-child interactions in terms of maternal child- rearing behavior, maternal self-esteem, and their school-age children's self-esteem. The subjects were, all living in the Seoul area. A pre-test was conducted twice on 98 subjects. Each time the values of Chronbach's ${\alpha}$ were obtained on maternal behavior, maternal self-esteem and children's self-esteem. Data analysis was by ANOVA, Pearson's product-moment correlation. multiple regression analysis. Chronbach's ${\alpha}$, and factor analysis. Children's self-esteem was positively related (1) to family background factors:educational level, employment status of mothers, social economic status, and number of siblings (2) to maternal self-esteem and (3) to maternal child-rearing behavior in the dimensions of affection, acceptance, and encouragement of independency. Children's self-esteem was negatively related to maternal child-rearing behavior in the dimensions of hostility, rejection and encouragement of dependency. The relative importance of independent variables on children's self-esteem was found to be in the following order:mother's educational level. social economic status, and number of siblings (${\beta}=0.5935$, p< .001), maternal child-rearing behavior in the affection-hostility dimension (${\beta}=0.0849$, p< .001), and in the acceptance-rejection dimension(${\beta}=0.0365$, p< .05). The regression model showed that 25 percent of the children's self-esteem could be accounted for by family background factors. and maternal child-rearing behavior in the affection-hostility dimension and the acceptance-rejection dimension ($R^2=0.25$).

부모의 자아존중감이 학령후기 아동의 미디어기기 중독에 미치는 영향: 부부갈등과 아동의 자아존중감의 매개효과 (The Influence of Parental Self-Esteem on Late School-Aged Children's Media Device Addiction: The Mediating Effect of Marital Conflict and Children's Self-Esteem)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effect of parental self-esteem on late school-aged children's media device addiction by mediating marital conflict and children's self-esteem. Methods: This study used data from the 11th (2018) Panel Study on Korean Children. The participants consisted of 1,082 family triads (fathers, mothers, and children). Data were collected using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Marital Conflict Scale, and K-Internet Addiction Scale. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with SPSS/WIN 27.0 and Mplus 8.7. Results: The final model showed a good fit for the data. Children's media device addiction was directly related to mothers' self-esteem, mothers' marital conflict, and children's self-esteem. Fathers' self-esteem had a significant indirect effect on children's media device addiction by mediating both fathers' and mothers' marital conflict. In addition, mothers' self-esteem had a significant indirect effect on children's media device addiction by mediating mothers' marital conflict. Conclusion: The findings indicates that self-esteem and marital conflict for both fathers and mothers have a significant effect on children's media device addiction. It suggests that more attention might be given to fathers and mothers in developing interventions to prevent children's media device addiction.

청소년의 인터넷 중독, 자아존중감, 자기통제, 공격성간의 관계구조 (Structural Relationships Among Adolescents' Internet Addiction, Self-Esteem, Self-Control, and Aggression)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships among adolescents' internet addiction, self-esteem, self-control, and aggression. The participants were 300 students in their first year of middle school. The questionnaire consisted of measures of internet addiction, self-esteem, self-control, and aggression. The major findings were as follows: 1) self-control had a direct effect on aggression; 2) internet addiction had a direct effect on self-esteem and self-control; 3) self-esteem had a direct effect on self-control; 4) internet addiction had an indirect effect on aggression and self-control; and self-esteem had an indirect effect on aggression. This study implied that self-related variables could mediate the relationship between the possibility of internet addiction and adolescents' aggression. This study also suggested that research on various mediator variables could reduce adolescents' psychosocial problems.

서울시 일부 고등학생의 정신건강에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Influential Factors on Mental Health of High School Students in Seoul)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine factors influencing the mental health of high school students in relation to sociodemographic variables, family function, self-esteem, social support, and self-identity. Methods: The survey was carried out on a convenience sample of 332 high school students. Data analysis procedure included stepwise regression using mental health as the dependent variable, and sociodemographics, family function, self-esteem, social support, and self-identity, as independent variables. Results: Stepwise multiple regression revealed that the factors such as self-esteem(${\beta}=0.422$, p<0.001), self-identity(${\beta}=0.166$, p<0.001), and sex(${\beta}=-0.165$, p<0.001) turned out to be significant affecting factors. Twenty seven percent of varience in mental health was explained by these factors(22% of varience by self-esteem). Conclusion: Self-esteem was turned out to be the most important effective factor of mental health in high school students. These results suggest that it is important for high school students to promote their self-esteem to keep their good mental health.

장루보유자의 삶의 질 및 관련 요인에 대한 연구 (A Study on Quality of Life and Related Factors of Ostomates)

  • This is a descriptive study on quality of life(QOL) and related factors of ostomates to provide a basic data for development of nursing interventions. The subjects were 110 ostomates who were members of the Daegu or Daejon branches of the Korean Ostomy Association. Data collection was performed between March 1st and April 6th, 1998. Measurements of QOL, self-care, family support, self-esteem, and hope were used as the study tools. Data were analyzed with the SAS program by using t-test, ANOVA Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The results are as follows : 1) The score on the QOL scale ranged from 97 to 226 with a mean of 164.53($\pm$28.29). 2) The score of QOL on the general and ostomate-related characteristics showed significant differences according to monthly income, monthly participation in ostomate meetings, combined treatments after operation, types of evacuation management, problems of ostomy, help in caring for the ostomy, length of time since ostomate surgery, and presence or absence of readmission after discharge. 3) There were significant positive correlations between quality of life and other factors : self-esteem(r=0.7107, P<0.001), hope(r=0.6584, P<0.001) family support(r=0.6191, P<0.001), perception of health condition(r=0.6017, P<0.001), and self-care (r=0.2286, P<0.05). 4) The variables that affected the quality of life of the subjects were self-esteem, level of family support, perception of health condition, monthly participation in ostomate meetings, combined treatments after operation, monthly income, level of hope, and age in that order. The variance of quality of life was $R^2$=77.20 percent by calculating the sum of those variables. In conclusion, it is necessary for nursing intervention to promote self-esteem, family support, and hope in the care of ostomates in order to improve QOL.

부모의 바람직하지 않은 양육행동과 아동의 친구관계 및 자기조절학습능력이 아동의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Undesirable Parenting Behavior, Children's Peer Relationship and Self-regulated Learning on Children's Self-esteem)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of undesirable parenting behavior, children's peer relationship and self-regulated learning on children's self-esteem. Using the data from Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey, this study was conducted with Structural Equation Modeling(SEM). The results of this study were as follows. First, parents' undesirable parenting behavior influenced directly on children's self-esteem, and peer relationship. Second, children's peer relationship influenced directly on self-regulated learning, and self-esteem. Third, children's self-regulated learning influenced directly on self-esteem. Fourth, parents' undesirable parenting behavior did not influenced directly on children's self-regulated learning. But children's peer relationship and self-regulated learning had mediating effects on the relationship between undesirable parenting behavior and children's self-esteem.

주부의 자아 존중감과 가사 노동에 대한 태도 및 만족도에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Relation Between Self-Esteem and Attitude Toward Household Work and its Satisfaction.)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relations between housewife's self esteem and attitude toward household work its satisfaction and to find out how independent variables(housewife's age, education level, employment, household work helper, type of family) have effect on the two dependent variables. The measurement of self-esteem was based on the self-concept test standarized by Jung Won Sick, reformed the Fitts measurement for Korean Society. In order to measure of attitude toward household work and its satisfaction, based on the previous research, researcher made the measurement . the research was conducted on 234 housewives in Seoul in September 1984. Data was analyzed by percentage, mean, frequence analysis of variances, Pearson's correlation coefficient. The result can be summarized as following. 1)Over on half of housewives have high self-esteem comparatively. 2) Age and education level were variables to have influence n the attitude toward household work. 3)The attitude toward household work and its satisfaction comparatively were high. 4)Education level and type of family were variables to have influence on the attitude toward household work. Education level, employment and household work helper were variables to have influence on the satisfaction of house hold work. 5) Level of Self-esteem has influence on the attitude toward household work and its satisfaction. The higher level of self-esteem was, the higher becomes the score of the attitude toward house hold work and its satisfaction. Following suggestions can be extracted form the results of above study. 1) research of housewife's self-esteem didn't established a setted theory yet. I think, therefore, it requires deeper study about housewife's household work look upon as her occupation and relation between the household work as her occupation and her self-esteem in this area. 2) Population and sociological variables, used in this study, hardly influenced on self-esteem, the attitude toward household work and its satisfaction. Also the result didn't correspond with one another. So I think it requires need of further study how psychological and family function variables will have influence on housewife's self-esteem, the attitude toward household work and its satisfaction. 3) To recognized the value of household work objectively, many researchers tried to investigate of economical value of household work, But if housewife can realize her self-actualization through household work, it requires the study that try to objectively not only estimate the economic value of household work, but also the contribution of the aspect of family psychology.

청소년의 가족환경 및 또래환경과 진로성숙도의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과 (The Mediating Effects of Self-esteem on the Relationship between Adolescents' Family Environment, Peer Environment and Career Maturity)

  • 본 연구는 청소년의 가족환경(부모양육태도, 가족응집성), 또래환경(또래관계의 질, 또래 괴롭힘)과 진로성숙도의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 자료 수집을 위하여 서울시 4개 중학교 3학년 남녀 학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 423부의 자료를 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 자료의 분석을 위해서 AMOS 18.0 프로그램을 이용하여 구조방정식 모형의 적합성 및 측정모형을 검증하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 가족환경은 또래환경에 직접적으로 높은 수준의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 청소년의 가족환경과 또래환경이 자아존중감에 직접적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났는데, 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 직접적인 영향은 가족환경보다 또래환경이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 청소년의 자아존중감은 진로성숙도에 직접적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났고, 가족환경과 또래환경은 자아존중감을 통하여 진로성숙도에 간접적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타나 자아존중감의 매개 효과를 확인하였다. 구조모형 분석결과를 살펴보면, 청소년의 또래환경이 진로성숙도에 영향을 미치는데 있어서 자아존중감이 매개역할을 하고, 가족환경이 진로성숙도에 영향을 미치는데 있어서 또래환경과 자아존중감이 차례대로 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 청소년의 가족환경, 또래환경, 자아존중감 및 진로성숙도의 구조적 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 확인했다는 데에 의의가 있다.
