This study was done to analyze the trends of research on stroke in Korea, to suggest future direction, for research on stroke. This article reviewed 75 nursing research papers on stroke done since 1990 to 2000 by examining them according to the period of publication or presentation, research design, type of subjects, measurement variables, the intervention outcome of experimental research, and theme of qualitative research. The research were as follows : 1. 26 of 75 studies were composed of master thesis and dissertation of graduate school. There were 53 nonexperimental research, 15 experimental research, and 7 qualitative studies design. 2. Stroke patients subject' Characteristic were 44 and Family and Spouses of caregiver support were 28 of total studies. 3. Most measurement instruments used for research were translated and redesigned it into Korean that developed by foreigners, and development measurement instruments used Kang's ADL. 4. Family support and Social support was shown the frequently among correlational research. 5. Methodological research were development of an evaluation tool for the quality of nursing care in stroke patients, caregiver support of development of nursing intervention list, and Home care Nursing Intervention protocol, and development of client selection criteria based on the needs of services to be offered. 6. The experimental research of intervention were mostly education nursing intervention, rehabilitation program on functional recovery, support nursing intervention, and applying a home care protocol on the nursing care intervention. 7. Theme of qualitative research were family experience, home care in family experience, soobal experience, illness experience, hope of Stroke patients and so on. Phenomenologic methodology and Granded Theory was designed of Qualitative research. On the basis of the above finding the following recommendations are made: 1. It's necessary to develop a reliable and variable measurement tool for stroke patients and family care of stroke patients. 2. It's necessary to study the comparison of Nursing Studies of stroke research abroad, the replication to establish the effect of nursing intervention stroke patients and family care of stroke patients.
Purpose: This study investigated trends in family nursing intervention studies and evaluated the quality of studies using the RCT design. Methods: This study included a total of 898 abstracts published from 1977 to 2007 in order to describe trends in family nursing intervention studies. Out of 898 studies, 153 RCT studies were selected for quality evaluation. The criteria of Jadad et al. (1996) were employed for the quality evaluation. Results: The number of RCT studies on family nursing interventions increased since 2001. Only 6.8% of the studies were published in the area of nursing. Most of the family interventions (27.1%) focused on individual family members and only 8.2% of the studies provided interventions to family as a whole unit. Nine different modes of family nursing intervention could be categorized, but none of the studies used the double blind design. Few studies utilized protocols for interventions. Only 17.5% of the studies reported the rationale for sample size. The mean score was 1.6 out of 5 according to the criteria of Jadad et al. (1996). Conclusion: Refined definitions and attributes of family nursing intervention modes are needed. Most of the studies did not meet the expectations of RCT. Thus, it is needed to improve the quality of design. More RCT studies should be conducted to provide evidence-based practice of family nursing interventions.

Objective : In this study, we aimed to investigate the effectiveness of family-centered intervention conducted with caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in South Korea through a systematic literature review. Methods : Previous studies published from 2011 to 2021 were searched through RISS, KISS, and DBpia. The search terms applied included "autism spectrum" OR "general developmental disorder" OR "high-functioning autism" OR "Asperger's" AND "parent education" OR "family-centered intervention" OR "parent coaching" OR "parent training" OR "family participation." A total of 11 experimental studies were chosen based on the selection criteria. Results : According to the findings on the general characteristics of the study participants, intervention strategies, and effects of the intervention, it was observed that the majority of children with ASD who participated in the study were preschool-aged, and the majority of participating caregivers were mothers. The effects of family-centered interventions were evident in both children and parents. In children, the most significant effects were observed in interaction and communication skills. In parents, a reduction in parenting stress and an improvement in parenting efficacy were observed. The intervention strategies employed in the study varied, with sensory integration intervention, responsive communication, and interaction-centered intervention being the most commonly used, followed by developmental-centered intervention, positive behavior support (PBS), and parent-mediated intervention based on pivotal response treatment (PRT). Conclusion : The results of this study are significant in that they confirm that family-centered intervention is effective not only in improving the functioning of children with autism spectrum disorder, but also in reducing parenting stress and enhancing parenting efficacy, and provide evidence for clinical use.
Caring is an essential element of nursing. In a family with a patient. a critical situation may happen not only for the patient but also for the members of the family. Therefore, a caring service from the healthcare providers can also be requested for the family members. The movie 'Mabin's Room' deals with family problems. In this study, the assessment, problem, diagnosis and planning for the family nursing situation for family problems were made focusing on the role of characters in the movie 'Mabin's Room'. Regarding family nursing intervention, the framework of the story 'Mabin's Room' was reorganized to solve the problems based on the role of community health nurse. In this scenario approach method, the situation in the movie is used without change but the scenario related to the roles (or communication) of community health nurse for solving the family problems is added. It is a problem solving oriented method by reorganizing the scenario in a movie story situation. The reorganized scenario in this study is just an example of scenario approach method. Community Health Nurses can cultivate their creativity by solving various problems in the community by adopting or modifying this simple scenario in practice.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to focus on the phenomenon of spouses experienced by offenders after completing the offender intervention program. Method: For this purpose, among the offenders who received the decision of counsel (counseling order) accused by domestic violence, who the other spouse selected case without counseling. After the in - depth interviews with the 9 participants, the collected data were analyzed by Colazzi 's phenomenological study method. Results: Major research findings can be summarized as follows. Category 1 was "Experiences about causes of violence", category 2 was "Experiences with forms of violence", category 3 was "What I wanted about my spouse when I called the police", category 4 was "What I wanted for myself when I reported to the police", category 5 was "the situation of the offender after completing the offender intervention program", category 6 was "what I experienced after completing the offender intervention program" and category 7 was "Experiences for Follow-up consultation needs". Conclusions: Based on the results of the research, counseling for perpetrators who are violent actors needed a therapeutic approach not only to strengthen the temporary punishment but also to help the family recovery on a continuous and sustainable level. Therefore, the implications of policy intervention for domestic violence were suggested.
The purposes of the study were to find the characteristics of spousal conflict, the characteristics of the origin of family in couple, the intervention techniques of the family therapist, and the processes of change in couple through family therapy. The total family counseling was 9 sessions, which included individual and couple therapy. The study used constant comparative analysis by using open coding method to find the factors. The study suggested the whole model for the study, which could be shown the processes of family therapy in this case study, by using graphical network display. The results of study showed the personal characteristics of husband and wife, the characteristics of the origin of family in couple, the intervention techniques of the family therapist, and the processes of change in husband through family therapy by using matrix. The results revealed that there were many differences in characteristics to cause spousal conflicts and characteriscts in family of origin to influence the crisis of divorce. The therapeutic intervention to treat the couples in the crisis of divorce were facilitation of communication between husband and wife, husband's differentiation of self from family of origin, and understanding about the perspectives of family members. As results of therapeutic intervention, there were showed the spousal change of recognition to each other, husband's differentiation of self, wife's growth of self, and improvement of communication.
Purpose: In this study, the researchers closely investigated the psychosocial problems faced by terminal cancer patients and their family members in hospice palliative care units. Methods: The investigators conducted four sessions of art therapy intervention programs for the terminal cancer patients and their family members, carried out in-depth interviews about the influence of the cancer experience on their family function and quality of life, and analyzed their experiences using grounded theory methodology. Results: After providing autonomous written informed consent, six pairs of terminally ill cancer patients and their family members, accounting for a total of 17 participants with the inclusion of additional family members who took part sporadically, took part in the art therapy intervention and interviews. The raw data, in the form of verbatim records, were analyzed according to the procedures of grounded theory (open, axial, and selective coding). Through these processes, a total of 154 concepts, 56 subcategories, and 13 categories were identified. Families were classified into four types according to their family function, quality of life, and attitude toward death. Though the art therapy intervention, patients and their family members experienced three stages over time. Conclusion: This research focused on essential aspects of the family relationships and the art therapy experiences of terminal cancer patients and their family members through an art therapy intervention in the context of hospice palliative care. Based on these observations, the researchers constructed a theoretical rationale for art therapy interventions delivered to patients and their family members in the process of hospice palliative care.
Purpose: This study aimed to classify nursing interventions by developing a list of interventions for family nursing care. Methods: A new intervention list was confirmed after the researchers' discussion and professional consult. All possible interventions were re-organized. Results: Five grand categories were identified, which include health education, providing direct nursing care, utilization and referral of community resources, reinforcing family resources, and stress management. The category of health education consists of anticipatory guidance, training and education, providing information, and consult and motivation. The category of providing direct nursing care consists of identifying problem, providing technical nursing, providing family tailored nursing care, family contract, monitoring or evaluation, and collaboration with experts. The utilization and referral of community services includes utilization of health care facilities, utilization of social welfare facilities, use of neighbors, friends, and relatives, connecting to professionals or supporting groups, and utilization of other sources. Reinforcing family resources includes reinforcing economic resources, reinforcing physical resources, and reinforcing human resources. Stress management includes reorganization of perception, resolving conflicts, division of role, preparing communication strategies, time management, creating familiarity, supporting spirituality, and developing sense of humor. Conclusion: This study provides useful resources to promote nursing activities by identifying possible family nursing interventions.
The primary purpose of the study was to review both domestic and international literature and intervention programs designed from an ecological perspective in dealing with issues on family welfare. This study cites several research evidence that indicates why an ecological model is a relevant alternative to investigate issues in family welfare. The strengths of the ecological approach and limitations of the present study were discussed. Suggestions for future research were made based on the review of literature.
Objective: This study explored benefits of a bibliotherapy program using picture books for self-growth supporting married Immigrant Women settle down as a healthy member of the Korean society. Method: This intervention program was implemented on twelve married immigrant women (and another twelve women as a control group), and their self-esteem and social competence before and after the intervention were examined. In addition, the researcher kept observation journals and conducted post-program interviews with the participants after the completion of the program to understand the changes in family relationships. Result: The results of this study are as follows: (1) the self-esteem scores of participants had increased after the intervention program, however, there was not significant differences between control and experimental groups, (2) the experiment group made more progress in improving social competence, and (3) the study confirmed through qualitative analysis that the program made positive contributions to improving the participants' quality of family relationships. Conclusion: Based on these results, implications for further research and practices were discussed.
