The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of householder's job status m the family life style. Data was collected from 475 parents in Chonbuk province by using a self administered questionnaire from June 10 to 30, 1998. Frequencies, percentages, and averages were calculated T-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis were followed. The results were as follows; 1. The families who suffered householders' job loss were 1/4 of the respondents and over 4/5 of the families felt economic stresses. 1/3 of the respondents had debts and 1/5 had not any savings. Most of the families were in good or normal marriage relationships, experienced economic crises, and had sparing habit. 2. In out-of-job families, couple cohension, couple satisfaction, and total marriage relationships were lower than in-job families. Also, out-of-job families spared more in buying and using clothes and foods, total clothes living and total food living. 3. In out-of-job families, the economic pressures on marriage relationships, clothes living, and food living were stronger than in-job families. 4. Family resources such as savings, ordinary marriage relationships, and sparing habit effected on the marriage relationships, clothes living, and food living in out-of-job families and in-job families. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of family-school relations on children's school adjustment with divorced mothers. Subcategories of the family-school relations were family participation in decision making, family help for schools, learning activities at home, school help for families, and school-home communication adopted from Epstein's parent involvement theory. Sub categories of children's school adjustment were delinquent behavior and academic achievement. The sample of this study included 3,367 children from first to fifth grade who lived either in a two-parent or one-parent home. Among them, 411 children with divorced mothers were analyzed. Independent t-test, Pearson's correlations, stepwise regression analysis were all conducted. Findings suggested that children with divorced mothers showed higher delinquency and lower academic achievement than children in intact families. Sub categories of family involvement and school involvement were correlated in divorced families. Children's delinquency was predicted by three of the family-school relation factors, which were school-home communication, family help for schools, and school help for families. Children's academic achievement was predicted by ail factors.
This study set out to examine the adaptation capabilities of husbands in multicultural families and further identify strengths to maintain a healthy multicultural family based on the grounded theory. For those objectives, the investigator had an ongoing interview with ten husbands that had a child in the setting of multicultural family and were judged to maintain a healthy family. Question analysis through the method of Strauss & Cobin and the abstraction and categorization process among similar concepts identified total 89 concepts, 24 subcategories, and 11 categories. In a paradigm model according to the axial coding results, the causal condition was "having an international marriage with the spouse"; the contextual conditions were "crisis in the development of multicultural family" and "general family conflicts"; the mediating condition was "positive self-rationalization"; and the central phenomena were "family-oriented value" and "cultural tolerance." The operation and interaction strategies for them were "forming communicative couple relationships," "cultivating cultural sensibility," and "utilizing unofficial external resources." The adaptation capabilities were "satisfaction with family life" and "pride in building a healthy multicultural family."
The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of family relations following the Internet use of housewives. The survey was performed on-line and off-line. 582 housewives who used the Internet at home gave valid responses to the questionnaire. The findings of tills study were as follows. First, after having started using the Internet, housewives felt that intimacy among family members has increased while the level of equality between couples unchanged. Second, the change in intimacy among family members has significant differences according to family adaptability and family cohesion. Whether or not other family members used the Internet also affected the intimacy among family members. Third, the change in equality between couples depended on their ability to use the Internet. This suggested that the ability to use the Internet was the core element to an equality. The results of this research suggested several implications for the public policy.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the trends, research methodology and findings of various researches on family resilience published in Korea over the past 13 years. A total of 93 publications related to family resilience between 1999 and June of 2012 were analyzed; 72 journal articles and 21 doctoral dissertations which had not been published in academic journals. The results are as follows; (1) There has been steady increase in the number of related researches since 1999, with a significant increase since the mid-2000s as various nontraditional families emerged and the perception of family problems began to change. (2) With regards to the methodology, the majority of the studies were empirical, using quantitative methods in both data collection and analysis. Most measurement scales employed were based on inventories developed by foreign researchers. (3) The research subjects encompass a wide range of individuals and groups from both vulnerable families and families from the general population. Additionally, some researches focused on special interest areas including program development & evaluation and scale development. Although research on family resilience has increased in quantity, there needs to be more qualitative, longitudinal and theory grounded studies on different families and individual types to better understand family resilience in depth. In addition, specific measurement scales reflecting the unique Korean family culture should be developed. Other challenges and suggestions for future research on family resilience are discussed.

The 830 subjects were selected from the second grade of middle and high schools and adolescents of Juvenile Judge in the city of Taegu. The survey instruments were FACESIII, SFIII, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Depression Scale, and Delinquency Scale. Factor Analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. MANOVA, Scheff'e test were conducted for the data analysis. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) Family system classification method on Olson Circumplex Model was partially useful in evaluating anxiety, depression, and delinquency of adolescent. 2) Family system classification method on Beavers Systems Model was partially useful in evaluating anxiety and depression of adolescent. (Korean J Human Ecology 2(1) : 38~51, 1999)

The purpose of this study is to analyze leisure studies in human ecology of Korea and to discuss them. For this analysis, the articles which were published on the Journal of Korean Home Economics Association, the Journal of Korean Home Management Association, and the Journal of Korean Family Resource Management Association were investigated by theme, research subject, and research method. Leisure studies in human ecology began with the survey of time-use or activity patterns and they were focused on the housewives. Since the latter half of the 1990' s varied groups -especially the old- are subject to sample, and the shared leisure is studied, varied themes are studied. The research method were deflected to the survey using questionnaire all throughout the period. For the future study, we suggest that the general theories developed and the appropriate research method applied.
