The purpose of this study is to investigate communication style & communication in the family and marital satisfaction. This study focuses on the following aspects: 1) to find out which variables of background variables(oe, sociodemographic variables & communication styles) have effect on communica-tion and marital satisfaction in the family. 2) to find out the relationships between communication in the family and marital satisfaction. 3) to find out the independent influence of background variables on marital satisfaction. In order to clarify the above problems the data were obtained from questionaires with 72 items. The selected sample is composed of 365 housewives in chong Joo city. SAS pc program was used for th statistical analysis of the data. Data was analyzed by frequency percentage mean F-test Duncan's multiple range test regression analysis path analysis pearson's correlation coefficient. Major findings are as follows: first age of couples education of couples durati n of marriage family life cycle number of children income were variables to have influence on communication in the family, And communication styles were variables to have influence on communication in the family. Second age of couple education of couple duration of marriage family life cycle number of children were variables to have influence on marital satisfaction. And communication styles were variables to have influence on marital satisfaction. Third there were positive relation between communication in the family and marital satisfaction. The higher communication about clothing food housing skill health affection money, time and infstitutional facilities the higher marital satisfaction. Fourth influential variables related to marital satisfaction were communication about clothing affection & money and communication styles(ie, random style, morphogenic style, mophostatic style)

Studies on time-use have generally concentrated on the amount of time used by each member of a household in Korea. The quality of family relationships could be associated with the amount and types of interactions between family members. This study examined the time that adults spend with their family members on various activities. The purpose of this study is to explore a typology of family time and investigate the characteristics of each type. The data source was the 2009 Time-Use Survey conducted by the Korean National Statistics Office. The people involved in each activity were surveyed for the first time in the 2009 survey in Korea. The data from this study included 10,902 diaries that were filled on weekdays by married adults from ages 20 to 59 years. Data from rural households were excluded. Time use was divided into three categories: family meals, household work and family leisure time. These activities were analyzed using t-test, chi-square analysis and cluster analysis. Family time was classified into four types based on three categories. The four types were named "leisure sharing", "household work sharing", "overall sharing" and "non-sharing". The most common type was non-sharing. The characteristics of each type depended on gender and paid work time. Based on these results, family and labor policies should be developed to increase the work-life balance. Policies that focus on men over 40 years are especially recommended.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the work-family reconciliation level of married women in double-income households. Specifically, the study aimed to test the positive spillover effects, asymmetry, and differential functions of work-family reconciliation. The study thus analyzed 1,114 married women in double-income households in the third-year data of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families (KLoWF) done by Korean Women's Development Institute (KWDI), with the exception of those who were separated, divorced, or widowed from their husbands. The data were put to descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, and exploratory factor analysis using SPSS 20.0 for Windows. AMOS 20.0 was used to test the hypothesis on positive spillover effects, asymmetry, and differential functions. The analysis results confirm that work-family conflict, family-work conflict, work-family facilitation, and family-work facilitation are different concepts, thus supporting the hypothesis on positive spillover effects. Secondly, the negative effects of family on work were greater than those of work on family, whereas the positive effects of family on work were greater than those of work on family, which finding partially supported the hypothesis on asymmetry among the components of work-family reconciliation. Finally, the married women in double-income households with preschool children experienced more work-family conflict and family-work conflict than those with no preschool children, which result supported the hypothesis on differential functions between the two groups of women. The findings were combined to provide implications for the utilization of family resources, policies for work-family reconciliation, and plans for institutional supports to promote the work-family reconciliation of married women in double-income households.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the expected family involvement of family members of elderly residents in nursing homes. Methods: This study utilized a descriptive design with a survey research method. Data were collected using the Expect Family Involvement Questionnaire Scale, which was completed by 112 family caregivers of older adults in nursing homes in Seoul and Gyeong-gi Province. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: Responses to the questionnaire indicated the highest value was recorded for the item, 'use of a room for family privacy' with $2.41{\pm}0.43$ points, followed by the item, 'staff calling family for advice with resident problems' with $2.38{\pm}0.38$ points and 'education about nursing home programs' with $2.32{\pm}0.42$ points. Conclusion: In order to promote family involvement in long-term care facilities, various approaches, interventions, and government supports with the respective of the family are required. The nursing home placement process should include understanding discuss on the importance of the role of family, and should help promote positive relationships between the elderly residents and their families. Staffs and administrators of nursing home are to consider the family as a partner rather than visitor.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing file-up family stress in the family with a family member having a chronic mental illness. Method: Data was collected by questionnaires from 365 families with a member having a chronic mental illness, in an outpatient clinic of a General Hospital and Government Psychiatric Hospital in Seoul. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The score of file-up stress showed a significantly negative correlation with the score of level of hardiness (r=-.31, p=.00), family support (r=-.13, p=.00), family cohesion (r=-.25, p=.00), and sense of coherence (r=-.26, p=.00). The most powerful predictor of file-up stress was family hardiness and the variance was 11.1%. Acombination of hardiness, family support, and sense of coherence account for 14.8 % of the variance in file-up stress of the family with a member having a chronic mental illness. Conclusion: This study suggests that family support, hardiness, cohesion, and sense of coherence are significant influencing factors on file-up stress in the family with a member having a chronic mental illness.

This study is to explore the effects of leisure life on multi-cultural family from a view of marriage migrants women. For this purpose, data were collected by in-depth interviews of 24 marriage migrants women who came from 7 countries such as Vietnam, China, Japan etc. They are living in Daejeon city, Okcheon gun(Chungbuk), Gumi city(Gyungbuk) and the length of residence is ranging from 4 and half month to 13 years and 6 months. Data were analyzed by qualitative method. Major findings are as follows: First, individual and family leisure of marriage migrant women had positive effects on adaptation of her family life. Especially, in the early marriage stage, family leisure contributed women's emotional stability. Second, time was the most limiting constraints in family leisure of multi-cultural family. Third, early in the marriage, marriage migrant women who is not fluent in Korean language, customs, and courtesy hinders them from joining their family leisure. Fourth, leisure may seem to contribute to family life satisfaction, but marital relationships and household economy has to be settled beforehand.
The purpose of this is to find the anxiety score of OHS pt's family and general surgery pt's family and to offer basic data. The subjects of this study were 80 : 40 were OHS pt's family in Seoul Hospital and remaining 40 were OS pt's family in Capital Hospital. The data was collected between March 1, through May 30, 1992. The instruments used for this study were Zung's The Self-Rating Anxiety Scale. The collected daLa were analyzed using percentage, descriptive statistics, $X^2-test$, t-test and Two-way Anova. The finding's were as followed: 1. Test of hypothesis "The anxiety score of the Ol-lS pt's family were similar to as pt's family" was rejected (L=0.772 P>.05) 2. The mean score of anxiety of the OHS pt's family was 1.772, The mean score of anxiety of the OS pt's family was 1,790. 3. The relationship between anxiety of the OHS pt's family and GS pt's family and family's age was significant (P<.Ol) and the relationship between anxiety and age interaction effect. (F=242.0 P<.01) In conclusion, the anxiety score of the OI-IS pt's finding and GS pt's family was all high.
This study examined the effects of employees' gender role attitudes, job involvement, and family involvement on their work-family conflicts, work-family facilitation, and utilization of family-friendly corporate policies. Data was collected from 377 full-time married workers from 262 large (more than 300 employees) and 100 small (fewer than 300 employees) private sector companies. The questionnaire's measurements were based on recommendations from the literature review. The questionnaire consisted of the gender role attitude scales, job and family involvement scales, work-family conflict and facilitation scales, and questions pertaining to the employee's utilization of family-friendly corporate policies. The SPSS 12.0 statistical package was used to analyze the collected data. The study found that employees showed more or less egalitarian gender role attitudes and that they were more involved in their family than their job. The employees' responses showed a low rate of utilizing family-friendly policies, but employees from large companies reported a higher utilization of family-friendly policies than those from small companies. There were also gender differences in employees' gender role attitudes, work and family involvement, and utilization of policies. Male workers held more traditional gender role attitudes, had higher levels of job involvement, and had higher rates of utilization of policies than female employees. Meanwhile, employees with children exhibited more traditional gender role attitudes and higher rates of utilization of policies than those without children. Finally, serial hierarchical regression analyses revealed that employees' more egalitarian gender role attitudes and higher job and family involvement predict higher work-family facilitation, while their gender role attitudes and job and family involvement have no significant influence on work-family conflicts. Also, employees from large companies with high job involvement will have significantly higher utilization rates of family-friendly corporate policies.
The purpose of this study is to measure family stress, family resources, copying strategies and the types of family system. For this purpose, the data were collected from healthy families(231) and clinic families(103). The main results are as follows: 1. Partially family stress, family resources, copying strategies was different by the demographic chrateristics(age, yeares of marriage, job, education, family life cycle family income religion and types of family system). 2. The type of family system was meaning factor for the family stress study. 3. In the case of healthy family, family stress was negative related with family resources, but healthy families used copying strategies variously. 4. In the case of clinic family, family stress was related with family resources and copying strateges strongly. 5. Classifying the types of family system, clinic families were classified extreme family(20.5%), midrange family(39.7%), balanced family(39.7%) and healthy family were classified extreme(13.1%), midrange family(25.8%) balanced family(61.1%).

Purpose: This study was done to explore how nurses manage the boundary for work-family balance. Methods: Data were collected through in-depth interviews from February 1 to May 28, 2012. Participants were 13 married nurses with children. The constant comparative method was adapted for data analysis. Results: In this study, nurses' work-family boundary management had characteristics of integration, maintenance and control, but it was adjusted and modified over time as the order of priorities was rearranged according to changes in internal cognition and family support. Nurses strategically persuaded their families to understand their work and share housework in an effort to integrate work and family, while controlling them by managing working hours and time for themselves. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that nurses' work has an impact on family life due to heavy workload and insufficient time, however the work-family balance can be successfully maintained with the effective separation of the two areas.
