S plastic injection molding factory located at Namdong Industrial Complex in Incheon produces plastic parts for semiconductor, vacuum cleaners, office furniture, etc. It produces the parts to customers' order and delivers them directly to customers at due dates using the trucks of freight company. In recent years, it has been suffered from the excessive production cost, high lost sales rate, rigid response to customers' order, and high delivery cost, which affect negatively on its profit. This paper introduces a case study on the profit increase through a newly proposed production and distribution method which applies a make-to-stock and multi-visit delivery strategy at S plastic injection molding factory. The proposed method is evaluated by comparing with the current method with respect to sales profit using the historical data of customer demand. It is confirmed through the computational experiments that the proposed production and distribution method yields almost double increase in profit resulted from the increased production, reduced lost sales, reduced production cost, and reduced delivery cost.

Korea government is making an effort to improve the efficiency in construction industry by introducing CITIS (Contractor integrated Technical Information Service). In order to provide a base for the application of CITIS into the construction industry, this research provides a concept of virtual factory which should be incorporated into CITIS system for the successful collaborative work in the virtual space. It then implements a prototype system through process and data modeling to apply into the road construction projects. The prototype system is tested to verify its efficiency. Finally, lesson learned from these works is provided to advance the current CITIS toward a collaborative virtual factory.
Developed countries that have experienced decline in productivity due to the economic crisis in the past have come to recognize the smart factory as an important means to strengthen the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry due to the increase in labor costs, the avoidance of the manufacturing industry, and the resolution of the shortage of skilled manpower. The necessity of nurturing manpower for self-maintenance was felt through identifying factors for successful smart factory introduction by companies and providing smart factory education. Therefore, the effects of educational satisfaction and operational competency on self-efficacy as a parameter and self-efficacy as a parameter were analyzed using research models and hypotheses to determine whether there was an effect between job satisfaction as a dependent variable. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the mediating effect of self-efficacy and self-efficacy on job satisfaction was found to have significant effects on operational competency and self-efficacy as parameters, as well as educational satisfaction and operational competency. The implication of this study is that continuous education and innovation activities are important in order to increase the business performance of companies, and through this, the manufacturing competitiveness of SMEs can be improved.
Smart technology has been utilized in various fields of all kinds of industries. Manufacturing industry has built its smart technology environment appropriate for its manufacturing fields in order to strengthen its manufacturing performance and competitiveness. The advance of smart technology for manufacturing industry needs to efficiently produce products, and response customer's demands and services in a global industrial environment. The smart technology capability of manufacturing fields is very crucial for the innovative production and efficient operation activities, and for efficient advancement of the manufacturing performance. We have necessitated a scientific and objective method that can gauge a smart technology ability in order to manage and strengthen the smart technology ability of manufacturing fields. This research provides a comprehensive framework that can rationally gauge the smart technology capability of manufacturing fields for effectively managing and advancing their smart technology capabilities. In this research, we especially develop a structural framework that can gauge the smart technology capability for a smart factory of manufacturing fields, with verifying by reliability analysis and factor analysis based on previous literature. This study presents a 13-item framework that can measure the smart technology capability for a smart factory of manufacturing fields in a smart technology perspective.
This study examines the trends of domestic and foreign smart industries and discusses safety and security issues. Based on the actual situation survey and interview of the smart factory, we would like to examine the perspectives on risks and threats. We will examine safety and health issues related to new harmful and risk factors that may occur in smart factories and suggest institutional development directions for future safety and health. First, a safety and health-related work environment for smart factory workers is investigated and interviews are conducted. Second, we investigate new risk factors and threats to prevent industrial accidents for workers in smart factories. The purpose of this study is to examine what are the new risk factors in the smart factory. In addition, we will try to find reasonable improvement measures by finding out the risks and threats of smart factories through case studies in advanced countries, on-site interviews and surveys.
As the flourish of today's supply chain, the traditional model of replenishment will cause accumulation of excessive inventory to the retailers and customers, or cause shortages and inability to meet the demands. To solve this problem, Theory of Constraints (TOC) proposed the replenishment model of demand-pull, combined with the establishment of factory-ware-house to achieve performance improvement. In the absence of empirical research, this study applied the Bean Game developed by Dr. Goldratt to design a supply chain system for different scenarios, in order to allow players and managers better understanding and supporting the TOC replenishment method through the operations of the game.

According to spreading of smart devices and development of communication technology, the security issues come to the fore in the modern factory. Especially, the smart facpry should be considered the risk management plan how to identify and evaluate, control the risks. In this paper, we suggest the minimum security requirements applying SFRPN(Smart Factory Risk Priority Number) model to domestic smart factory on the basis of the results inspecting factories.
The smart factory has spread to small and mid-size enterprises (SMEs) under the leadership of the government. Smart factory consists of a work area, an operation management area, and an industrial control system (ICS) area. However, each site is combined with the IT system for reasons such as the convenience of work. As a result, various breaches could occur due to the weakness of the IT system. This study seeks to discover the items and vulnerabilities that SMEs who have difficulties in information security due to technology limitations, human resources, and budget should first diagnose and check. First, to compare the existing domestic and foreign smart factory vulnerability classification systems and improve the current classification system, the latest smart factory vulnerability information is collected from NVD, CISA, and OWASP. Then, significant keywords are extracted from pre-processing, co-occurrence network analysis is performed, and the relationship between each keyword and vulnerability is discovered. Finally, the improvement points of the classification system are derived by mapping it to the existing classification system. Therefore, configuration and maintenance, communication and network, and software development were the items to be diagnosed and checked first, and vulnerabilities were denial of service (DoS), lack of integrity checking for communications, inadequate authentication, privileges, and access control in software in descending order of importance.
Plant factory was started in Europe in the 1960. Thanks to the development of seeds science, nutrient study, environment control technology and automated systems, it has developed into the form of full artificial light system. In recent years, productivity of plant factory has increased with the convergence of ICT. An interest in plant factory has increased with several outstanding achievements. However, the plant factory industry is still stuck at an introductory stage and government investment has been reduced. In order to verify the feasibility of the plant factory, we conducted a survey targeting experts in politics, R&D and business field. We analyze the feasibility of investment in plant factory and strategies to enhance the competitiveness of plant factory.
The objective of this research is to investigate how implementation of smart factory systems(SFS) effects management accounting(MA). The results based on data collected from 108 Korea small and medium enterprises(SME) confirmed that SFS implementation caused significant MA changes. Estimated regression models revealed that the most important SFS characteristic were the analytical capabilities since it positively influenced MA changes in four dimensions: internal reporting, budgeting, application of modern accounting techniques and MA employee's job. In the segment of budgeting, the quality of implementation of specialized bedgeting software had significant and positive influence. The only negative correlation founded was the one between the uncertainty of business environment and adoption of modern accounting techniques. Results from this study provide that SME should put special focus on implementation of business analytics modules in order to achieve comprehensive benefits in MA prctices.
