Background: When we make treatment plan of class III malocclusion children, it is difficult to determine whether we treat it with orthognathic surgery or without orthognathic surgery. To determine that, we must consider many factors, such as cephalometric analysis, growth pattern, family history, and skeletal age. A Harvold cephalometric analysis is useful in determining the amount of discrepancy by comparing the maxillary unit length with mandibular, unit length. We tried this study to help the decision of treatment planning in class ill malocclusion children by comparison in class III malocclusion and normal occlusion children using a Harvold analysis. Materials and Methods: The materials for this study consisted of 20 class III malocclusion children. Cephalometric tracing and measurements were performed by one investigator. The control group consisted of 18 normal occlusion children and lateral cephalograms were obtained from 8.5 to 14.5 years old children biannually. The relationships between class III malocclusion group and normal occlusion group were evaluated statistically. Results: The lower anterior facial heights between two groups were not significantly different, although the lower anterior facial heights of class III malocclusion group was higher than those of normal occlusion group in all age groups. The Maxillary-mandibular unit length differences of class III malocclusion group were significantly higher than those of normal occlusion group(p<0.05). Conclusion: A Harvold analysis was useful to make treatment planning for class III malocclusion children.
Keratoacanthoma is a benign, self-limited epithelial lesion that closely resembles Squamous cell carcinoma(SCC). Keratoacanthoma occur primarily exposed skin in male patients over 45 years of ages. although etiology is unknown, sunlight, genetic, and human papillomavirus factor have been considered. in clinical feature, rapid enlargement occurs over 4$\sim$8 weeks, resulting ultimately in a hemispheric, firm, elevated, asymptomatic nodule that contains a central plug of keratin. When fully developed, the keratoacanthoma contains a core of keratin surrounded by a concentric collar of raised skin. Over the next 4$\sim$8 weeks, static lesion persists. Then undergoes spontaneous regression over the next 6$\sim$8weeks period by expulsion of the keratin core with resorption of the mass. In histologic feature, Keratoacanthoma consists of hyperplastic squamous epithelium growing into the underlying connective tissue. The surface is covered by a thickened layer of parakeratin with central plugging. Epithelium cell shows dysplastic features and the margins the normal adjacent epithelium is elevated. The differential diagnosis includes SCC. Keratoacanthoma present as a exophytic lesion with horny keratin occupying a depression on the top of the lesion, persists static period and undergoes rapid growth compared with SCC. Keratoacanthoma is usually treated by surgical excision or curettage of the base, spontaneous regression does not occur in every case. A 60 years old male who present facial lesion visit our hospital and surgical excision was done. Biopsy result was keratoacanthoma. We report case with review of literatures.
Image warping is a technology to transform input images to be suitable for given conditions and has been recently utilized in changing face shape of characters in the field of movies or animation. Mesh warping which is one of warping methods that change shapes based on the features of face forms warping images by forming rectangular mesh groups around the eyes, nose, and mouth and matching them 1:1. This method has a problem in the resultant images are distorted in the segments of boundaries between meshes when there are errors in mesh control points or when meshes have been formed as many small area meshes. This study proposes a triangle based image interpolation technique to minimize the occurrence of errors in the process of forming natural warping images of face and process accurate results with a small amount of arithmetic operation and a short time. First, feature points that represent the face are found and these points are connected to form basic triangle meshes. The fact that the proposed method can reduce errors occurring in the process of warping while reducing the amount of arithmetic operation and time is shown through experiments.

In this paper, we propose a face recognition system by using the CCD color image. We first get the face candidate image by using YCbCr color model and adaptive skin color information. And we use it initial curve of active contour model to extract face region. We use the Eye map and mouth map using color information for extracting facial feature from the face image. To obtain center point of Log-polar image, we use extracted facial feature from the face image. In order to obtain feature vectors, we use extracted coefficients from DCT and wavelet transform. To show the validity of the proposed method, we performed a face recognition using neural network with BP learning algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed method is robuster with higher recogntion rate than the conventional method for the rotation and scale variant.
In this study, the sales status of female ball-jointed dolls and their parts were investi- gated and analyzed. Baseline data from 194 products and 54 brands on domestic and international Internet sites was gathered for the manufacture of ball-jointed dolls and the development of prototype costumes for them. The results are as follows. First, the sizes used for ball-jointed dolls are SD, USD, MSD, 13SD, and 70SD together with height. This study analyzed 39 sizes (15~70cm) by classifying them into numbered groups: 1 (15~22cm), 2 (23~33cm), 3 (35~51cm), 4 (53~62cm), and 5 (63~70cm). The price varied depending on the size; for example, 50cm dolls were approximately 45,000 won, while limited editions were sold at high prices, regardless of their size. They were classified into designs according to their body proportions and facial features as follows: 7- or 8-head-figure, 5-head figure, and 3-head figure, and were presented proportionally as images of women, adolescents, and infants. Second, the head was incised so that the top could be removed horizontally or the facial region vertically, allowing attachment of the eyeballs (which were either glass, resin, or acrylic) to the inside. More than 30 different colors were sold. Various wig styles were provided, including cut, short hair, and perm. These were made from human hair, heat-resistant fiber, and artificial hair. For the hands, there was a design expressing human hand gestures. For the feet, heels were in the form of wearing either high-heels or flat soles.
Alagille syndrome (AGS) is a rare autosomal dominant inherited disorder, with major clinical manifestations of bile duct paucity, cholestasis, cardiovascular anomaly, ophthalmic abnormalities, butterfly vertebrae, and dysmorphic facial appearance. It is caused by heterozygous mutations in JAG1 or NOTCH of the Notch signaling pathway presenting with variable phenotypic penetrance and involving multiple organ systems. The following case report describes a unique case of a 16-year-old female with AGS who presented with the primary complaint of renovascular hypertension. She had a medical history of ventricular septal defect and polycystic ovary syndrome. The patient had a dysmorphic facial appearance including frontal bossing, bulbous tip of the nose, a pointed chin with prognathism, and deeply set eyes with mild hypertelorism. Stenoocclusive changes of both renal arteries, celiac artery, lower part of the abdominal aorta, and left intracranial artery, along with absence of the left internal carotid artery were found on examination. Whole exome sequencing was performed and revealed a pathologic mutation of JAG1, leading to the diagnosis of AGS. Reverse phenotyping detected butterfly vertebrae and normal structure and function of the liver and gallbladder. While the representative symptom of AGS in most scenarios is a hepatic problem, in this case, the presenting clinical features were the vascular anomalies. Clinical manifestations of AGS are diverse, and this case demonstrates that renovascular hypertension might be in some cases a presenting symptom of AGS.

For edentulous patients with unstable mandibular movements and abnormal facial features due to condylar fractures and morphological abnormalities, it is important to find a stable mandibular position. In this case, the patient's facial improvement, mandibular movement stability, and denture stability were improved by using flat table treatment dentures. In addition, computer-aided design/manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technology was used in denture fabrication to maintain the vertical dimension and lip support of flat table treatment dentures, we report good results in improving the patient's discomfort.

Background: Frontal sinus fractures are relatively rare. Their surgical management significantly differs depending on whether the posterior wall is invaded and the clinical features vary. A bicoronal incision or endoscopic approach can be used. However, the minimally invasive approach has been attracting attention, leading us to introduce a simple and effective surgical method using multiple-threaded Kirschner wires. Methods: All patients had isolated anterior wall fractures without nasofrontal duct impairment. The depth from the skin to the posterior wall was measured using computed tomography to prevent injury. The edge of the bone segment on the skin was marked, a threaded Kirschner wire was inserted into the center of the bone segment, and multiple Kirschner wires were gently reduced simultaneously. Results: Surgery was performed on 11 patients. Among them, seven patients required additional support for appropriate fracture reduction. Therefore, a periosteal elevator was used as an adjunct through a small sub-brow incision because the reduction was incomplete with the Kirschner wire alone. The reduction results were confirmed using facial bone computed tomography 1 to 3 days postoperatively. The follow-up period was 3 to 12 months. Conclusion: The patients had no complications and were satisfied with the surgical results. Here we demonstrated an easy and successful procedure to reduce a pure anterior wall frontal sinus fracture via non-invasive threaded Kirschner wire reduction.

Background and Objectives: Temporal bone fracture (TBF) is a common occurrence in cases of head trauma. Although the incidence of temporal bone concussion (TBC) has increased in cases of head trauma, it has not been extensively studied. We assessed the characteristics of TBF and TBC in patients with head trauma. Subjects and Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 432 patients with head injury who visited our hospital between January 2011 and April 2016. Of these patients, 211 who met the inclusion criteria were included in the study. Their clinical characteristics, causes of injury, and hearing function were analyzed. Results: Among the 211 patients, 157 had TBFs and 54 had TBCs. Ear symptoms were more common among patients with TBF than among those with TBC. Car accidents were the most common cause of both TBF and TBC, but assault and sports injuries were more common among patients with TBC than among those with TBF. The occurrence of facial palsy in both cases of TBF and TBC. Hearing loss was observed among 35 patients with TBF and 11 patients with TBC. However, patients with TBF showed conductive hearing loss with an air-bone gap. Hearing function of these patients with TBF recovered with a reduced air-bone gap, but the patients with TBC showed little recovery. Conclusions: Emergency physicians should focus more on temporal bone injury in patients with head trauma. Therefore, an early complete diagnostic battery, which includes high-resolution computed tomography, audiometric tests, neurologic examination, and vestibular tests, be performed in patients with head trauma.
