Objective : The purpose of this study is to report a case of tic-disorder child treated by Oriental medicine and Play therapy. Methods : We treated the Tic-disorder child with herbal medicine (Yangsintangkamibang), acupuncture and Play therapy. Then we evaluated tic disorder by Yale Global Tic Severity Scale(YGTSS) and observed the progress of tic disorder with the play therapy. Results : We treated a tic-disorder patient with oriental medicine, play therapy and had a good effect on a patient who had facial motor tic disorder. The patient's symptoms were improved and the YGTSS also decreased. Conclusions : This study shows that co-treatment of oriental medicine and play therapy can be an effective treatment for tic disorder. And the further study is needed with more cases and longer duration.

There are few case reports on the treatment of churg strauss syndrome by oriental medicine. We experienced one case of a female patient, 47 ages, who had symptoms; Rt. hemiplegia, aphasia, M/S dull, Rt. facial palsy. We used acupuncture, physical therapy, herbal medication and taping therapy. After 6 months of Acupuncture therapy, Herbal medication, physical therapy and taping therapy, a remarkable improvement was made for cerebral infarction patient who accompany churg strauss syndrome. The patient could take self-ambulation after treatment and many symptoms have improved. Cerebral infarction patient who accompany churg strauss syndrome is not common ,but in case the treatment by korean traditional medicine, there was improvement in patient's state. We think that it need the further study and clinical practice for Churg Strauss Syndrome.

Tremor is a rhythmic, involuntary muscular contraction characterized by oscillations(to-and-fro movements) of a part of the body. The most common of all involuntary movements, tremor can affect various body parts such as the hands, head, facial structures, vocal cords, trunk, and legs; most tremors, however, occur in the hands. Tremor often accompanies neurological disorders associated with aging. Although the disorder is not life-threatening, it can be responsible for functional disability and social embarrassment. The clinical study was carried out the 4 patients with tremor who were treated in Dong Seo Medical Center from 1 January 2005 to 31 August. The results were summarized as follows. Tremor has relation to liver according to Jangbu theory. So we performed acupuncture treatment(Ganseonggyeok) and Herbal medication on tremor. After our treatments, tremor and some other symptoms were improved.

Objective : Bell's palsy is common and has many clinic study. but bell's palsy sequela is not enough study until now. So this study was evaluated bell's palsy sequela, catamnesis, demonstrator and herb. Methods : From December 2007 to November 2008, patients who visited Dong-seo Oriental Medicine ENT. A clinic study was done on patient who were diagosed bell's palsy, onset 2months over when first visited OPD and treated 3weeks over in Dong-seo Oriental Medicine Cental. To evaluate grade of paralysis, House-Brackman Scale was used. We classified period of improving, sequelas symptom except of facial muscle paralysis, Oriental Medicine diagnosis and herb. Results & Conculsion : 1. The distribution of sex : male 38.88%, female 61.11%. The distribution of age was presented that forty to fifty was the most in 10case(55.55%) 2. The distribution of the region of facial palsy : Rt(55.55%), Lt(44.44%) 3. In distribution of period of first HB-Scale improving : 1~2month was most in 10case(55.55%) 4. In distribution of symptom except of facial muscle paralysis : Dryness of eye 33.33%, Tearling 22.22%, Facial hypoesthesia 22.22%, Mastoid pain 22.22% 5. The distribution of demonstrator : Gi Deficiency and Deficiency of Both Gi and Blood was most in 11case(50%) 6. The distribution of treatment : Palmul-tang and Bojungikki-tang was the most herb in 6case(33.33%) and only acupuncture treatment and rehabilitation treatment was 5case(27.77%).

Objectives: This study reports a case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) in which the patient experienced improved limb weakness, facial paralysis, paresthesia, and systemic pain after Korean medicine treatment. Methods: A 25-year-old female patient diagnosed with GBS received the herbal medicine Banhasasim-tang Soft Ext., acupuncture, electroacupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and rehabilitation treatment. To confirm the change in symptoms, the manual muscle test (MMT), Korean Version of Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI), Yanagihara grading system (Y-score) and Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) were performed. Results: After Korean medicine treatment, there was a significant improvement in GBS-related clinical symptoms. Conclusions: Korean medicine treatment could be effective in improving symptoms of limb weakness, facial paralysis, paresthesia, and systemic pain related to GBS. However, this study has limitations as a case report, and more studies are needed.

The purpose of this study is to report a rare case of bilateral facial palsy after endoscopy and the effects of a series of traditional Korean medicine treatments applied to the patient. The patient was treated with Western oral medications for seven days and then with traditional Korean medicine consisting of acupuncture, moxa, and herbal medicine (Dodamgeopung-san-gami and Yukgungeopung-san-gami) for two months. Treatment progress was measured using the House-Brackmann grading system and Yanagihara's unweighted grading scale. We were able to notice some improvements in the patient's symptoms: the House-Brackmann scale went from 5/4 to 2/1, and the Yanagihara scale from 13/16 to 38/40. This study thus reports that traditional Korean medicine treatments can be applied to bilateral facial palsy found in rare cases and still be effective.

Objective : To evaluate the effect of Oriental medical treatment on a patient with Ramsay Hunt syndrome with poor prognosis on EMG. Methods : We applied various methods of Oriental Medical treatment including Acupuncture, Electroacupuncture, Herb medicine, Vesiculation therapy using Mylabris and Crontonis Fructus, Massage, Self-excercise of face muscles. Results : 1. Herb medicine was applied on the basis of Differentiation of Syndromes(辨證): We tried Herb medicine to improve the function of Digestive System. The patient's stool condition, subjective sensation related with abdominal pain and general condition improved. 2. We used the Vesiculation therapy using Mylabris which was used traditionally to treat Facial Palsy. We powdered Mylabris and mixed it with Crontonis Fructus to make a paste. We put it on Ye-poong(?風), Nae-gwan(內關) at left side. It induced vesicles at the applied area, but it disappeared in 48 hours without any scar. 3. We applied acupuncture, electroacupunture, massage and self-excercise of face muscles. On gross scale assessment, there was some improvement. And assessment with regional scale also showed changes. The patient and the guardian were satisfied with the result. Conclusion : We experienced a case of Ramsay Hunt syndrome with poor prognosis on EMG. She also showed poor response to conservative treatment. Through various modalities of Oriental medical treatment, we attained some clinical improvement.

Introduction: We report a rare case in which the symptoms of hypersomnia were caused by cerebral infarction that occurred in the hypothalamus and hypothalamus. Case Presentation: The patient underwent Korean medicine treatments using Gami-seonghyangjeonggi-san, acupuncture, electroacupuncture, and physical therapy for 37 days. We evaluated the degree of improvement in hypersomnolence based on the amount of sleeping time and the degree of memory impairment with the patient's suggestive conditions as observed by the patient's guardian, and one-sided facial palsy using the Yanagihara Scale. As treatment was applied, sleeping time was decreased from 22 to 9 hours a day. Memory impairment did not show clear improvements as the patient could not recognize others when they visited during the period in which the patient underwent treatment. One-sided facial palsy showed no improvements and there were no changes in the Yanagihara Scale results. Conclusion: This case showed that Korean medicine treatment could be effective to relieve some of the symptoms of thalamus and hypothalamus infarction. Further research is needed to confirm the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment.

This study aims to report a case of facial dermatitis herpetiformis with allergy diseases improved by administration of Mahaengeuigam-tang (Maxingyigan-tang). Multiple blisters appeared on the patient's face, Erythema, papules, and scales were also observed on the neck, back, and knee areas of the patient. The patient has had cough, sputum, and dyspnea symptoms since she was 5-6 months old. After diagnosing the patient's condition as dermatitis herpetiformis, atopic dermatitis, and bronchial asthma through history taking and symptom observation, Mahaengeuigam-tang (Maxingyigan-tang) was prescribed for about 30 days. As a result of evaluation through our own criteria, dermatitis herpetiformis symptoms improved from 18 to 2 points. Atopic dermatitis and asthma symptoms also decreased from 12 to 0 and 20 to 3 points, respectively. Since this study has proven the efficacy of Mahaengeuigam-tang (Maxingyigan-tang) for dermatitis herpetiformis patient, this prescription may be fully utilized as the treatment for other inflammatory skin diseases.

This case report determines the effects of Korean medicine treatment on a pontine hemorrhage with a cavernous malformation. In this study, Korean medicine treatments, such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, and moxibustion, were administered for 30 days. During the hospitalization period, evaluations were performed using the Scott and Kraft Scale, eye movement, 9-gaze photography, the House-Brackmann grading system, and Yanagihara's unweighted grading system on days 1, 12, and 30. The Scott and Kraft Scale increased from -4 to -2, while eye movement increased from 43.1% to 72.3%. The House-Brackmann grading system improved from 4 to 2, and Yanagihara's unweighted grading system increased from 13 to 31. We also discovered that the movement of the left eye was improved by 9-gaze photography. Our findings suggest that Korean medicine treatment has potential effects on esotropia and facial palsy caused by a pontine hemorrhage with a cavernous malformation.
