In this study, 3-D underwater object recognition using ultrasonic sensor fabricated with porous PZT-polymer 3-3 composites and SCL neural networks are presented. The recognition rates for the training data and the testing dara were 100 and 94.6% respectively.
Film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) devices which adopt a membrane-type configuration are fabricated by a novel process. In contrast to the conventional FBAR structure, the newly fabricated resonator doesn't employ any supporting layer below or above it, so that the properties of piezoelectric layer are not influenced by the bottom electrode material. FBAR devices with Mo/AlN/Metal configuration are also fabricated. The frequency response characteristics ($S_{11}$) of the devices fabricated using the proposed process are compared with those of the conventional devices. The return losses are also estimated, in terms of the kind and thickness of bottom electrode materials.
In this paper, we present reusable quartz master fabricated by electron-beam lithography and dry etching process of quartz, and results of injection molding based on the reusable quartz master for the manufacturing of nano-scale information media. Since patterned structures of photoresist can be easily damaged by separation (demolding) process of nickel stamper and master, a master with photoresist cannot be reused in stamper fabrication process. In this work, we have made it possible of the repeated use of master by directly patterning on quart in nickel stamper fabrication process. We have designed and fabricated four different specimens including 100nm, 140nm 200nm and 400nm pit patterns. In addition, both intaglio and embossed carving patterns are fabricated for each specimen. In the preliminary test of injection molding, we have fabricated polycarbonate patterns with varying mold temperature. We have experimentally verified the fabrication process of the reusable quart master and possibility of quartz master as direct stamper.
In this work, the coplanar waveguide is fabricated on a PES (poly[ether sulfone]) substrate for application to a flexible monolithic microwave integrated circuit, and its RF characteristics were thoroughly investigated. The quality factor of the coplanar waveguide on PES is 40.3 at a resonance frequency of 46.7 GHz. A fishbone-type transmission line (FTTL) structure is also fabricated on the PES substrate, and its RF characteristics are investigated. The wavelength of the FTTL on PES is 5.11 mm at 20 GHz, which is 55% of the conventional coplanar waveguide on PES. Using the FTTL, an impedance transformer is fabricated on PES. The size of the impedance transformer is $0.318mm{\times}0.318mm$, which is 69.2% of the size of the transformer fabricated by the conventional coplanar waveguide on PES. The impedance transformer showed return loss values better than -12.9 dB from 5 GHz to 50 GHz and an insertion loss better than -1.13 dB in the same frequency range.
In this paper, we describe a simple, precise and low cost method of fabricating PDMS stamp for UV embossing. It is important to improve the replication quality of stamp because the accuracy of fabricated structure is related to that of the stamp in UV embossing. The PDMS stamp has been fabricated by the replica molding technology with ultrasonic vibration to eliminate micro-air bubbles during the fabrication process of PDMS stamp. Also, this fabrication to use ultrasonic vibration promotes PDMS solution to fill into micro channel and edge parts. We report the fabrication of an optical core using UV embossing with fabricated PDMS stamp. This fabricated core is $7\;\mu{m}\;at\;depth,\;6\;\mu{m}\;at\;width.\;This\;measured\;value\;has\;the\;difference\;below\;1\;\mu{m}$compared to the original stamp. The surface roughness of core is about 14 nm root mean square. This is satisfactory value to use low-loss optical waveguide. Our successful demonstration of precise replica technology presents an alternative approach for the stamp of UV embossing.
The characteristics of organic films can be affected by the temperature of evaporation source because the temperature of evaporation source has an effect on substrate temperature during OLED fabrication process using the thermal evaporation. To investigate the characteristics of OLED devices fabricated by using thermally damaged organic films, I-V-L and half life-time in OLED devices fabricated with various substrate temperatures were measured. During emission layer(EML) evaporation, OLED devices with a structure of ITO(100 nm)/ELM200(50 nm)/NPB(30 nm)/$Alq_3$(55 nm)/LiF(0.7 nm)/Al(100 nm) were fabricated at various substrate temperatures(room temperature, $30^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$, and $50^{\circ}C$). The characteristics of current density and luminance versus applied voltage in OLED devices fabricated shows that many electrical currents flowed and high brightness appeared at low voltage, but that the lifetime of OLED devices dropped suddenly. This phenomenon explained that the crystallization of $Alq_3$ thin film appeared owing to the substrate heating during evaporation.
An electronic paper display was fabricated by injecting electronic ink, including white and black particles coated by positive and negative charge control agents (CCA), respectively, into closed cells surrounded by micro-barriers. These two types of charged, colored particles are easily damaged or their charging value can be changed by the injection process; therefore, the electrical and optical properties of the image panel fabricated by the injection method were estimated in this study. The active particle-loading method, proposed as a new electronic ink injection process, was applied, and the electro-optical properties of the resulting three-electrode-type e-paper image panel were analyzed. The reflection rate of the white image-panel fabricated with our new injection method was 24.7%, while that of the same panel fabricated with a previously reported injection method was 19.8%. In addition, the response time was improved by about five times compared to those reported in other publications.
