Objective: The case study assessed the possibility of improving symptoms by external treatment in a patient complaining of night sweats who could not take oral herbal medicine. Methods: Chinensis galla, Ostreae concha, and Cinnabaris were mixed in a 2:1:1 ratio and applied to CV8 before the patient went to bed. The treatment was removed upon waking and repeated every night. If itchiness and skin redness occurred, the position was changed to 2-3 cm up or down from the navel or application was changed to once every two days. Results: The external treatment eliminated the symptoms of sweating in the arms, legs, chest, and abdomen and reduced sweating in the occipital and neck areas. The sweating was improved to the extent that it no longer interfered with daily life. Conclusions: This case study shows the possibility of using external treatments rather than herbal medicine to treat night sweats.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Fermented Yungyo Keumeunhwa Extract External treatment Liquid on Seborrheic Dermatitis. Methods : Four Seborrheic Dermatitis patients on the face of each Diluted Yungyo Keumeunhwa Extract External treatment Liquid patch was 10 minutes. Results : The Fermented Yungyo Keumeunhwa Extract External treatment Liquid was effective on alleviation of symptoms like flare, scale, uredo and pricking on Seborrheic Dermatitis. Conclusions : The result indicate that Fermented Yungyo Keumeunhwa Extract External treatment Liquid has an available effect on Seborrheic Dermatitis, and authors consider that the additional clinical studies are needed to verify the effectiveness of monotherapy.

And the "Li-Yao-Pian-Won" had been written by Wu-Shang-Xian(吳尙先) in 1864. The book is the first technical book of external treatments. So, he has been held in respected as the father of external treatments by many people. Therefore we would like to bring out it's external treatments theory 2) Conclusions He had insisted that external treatments principles are identical with internal treatments. So, prescriptions of external treatment are selected and made by principles of internal treatment. But external treatments have following characteristics 1. Each of external treatment prescriptions have various effects. 2. Exchange of treatments is very easy. 3. We can make free use of various external treatments for care at a time. 4. External treatments are very economical. 5. External treatments are very easy to study. 6. External treatments are simple, speedy, precision.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends of domestic experimental research of external treatment in Korean medicine and use it as a basic data to expand the therapeutic field of Korean medicine. Methods : In December 2016, two authors searched for experimental studies of external treatment in Korean medicine researches in 6 Korean databases. Results : Among the 379 researches that were initially searched, two authors reviewed 190 researches, excluding duplicate researches, and finally 11 researches were selected for the study. The target disease was confined to the skin and mucosa, and the most of selected Korean medicine was based on the literature. Conclusions : Considering the range of application of the external treatment described in the literature and the domestic market for external medicine, it is expected that the development of various external medicine using herbal medicine will be expected in the future.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the results of preceding research related external treatment for Atopic dermatitis(AD). Methods : We studied the 13 research papers that had been published in The Journal of Korean Oriental Medical Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology & Dermatology, The Journal of Korean Oriental Pediatrics, The Journal of Korean Oriental Internal Medicine, The Journal of Korean Oriental Medicine, Korean Journal of Oriental Physiology & Pathology and so on. Results : About 13 treatises, 3 treatises were for the literatual study, I treatise was for the clinical research about the effects of external therapy, 3 treatises were for the effects of herbal medicine along with external treatment on AD development in NC/Nga mice, 6 treatises were for the case of AD. Conclusion : These treatises showed that external treatment is effective method to improve AD. To develop the better external treatment on AD, we have need of studies on the well used prescriptions and herbs through double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled methods, clinic research and so on.

1) Objective External treatments have various curative effects. So it had been used to cure various patients. But, it has a limited sphere of application in the present South Korea. Therefore we would like to bring out its sphere of application and detailed method in the oriental medicine classics. 2) Conclusions From long time ago people have used external treatment to cure various disease. According to the ${\lceil}Nei-Jing{\rfloor}$, hot compress therapy, fumigation therapy and bathing therapy had been used to cure blockage syndrome, muscle disease, carbuncle and cellulitis. Thereafter, a sphere of external treatment had gradually enlarged. (1) After all its sphere had included dermatologic, psychologic, internal, ophthalmic, otolaryngologic, obstetrics, gynecologic, pediatric and surgical diseases. (2) External treatment methods have contained hot compress therapy, fumigation therapy, bathing therapy, application therapy, medication bag therapy, medication plug therapy, medication massotherapy, aroma therapy and so on. (3) Medication types of external treatment have contained ointment, juice, infusion, powder, suppository and so on.

Object : In this study, the effect of herbal external therapy, aromatherapy, herb medication against atopic dermatitis was investigated. Method : Atopic dermatitis grade and the effect of medication was determined using Kunz type and SCORAD index. Atopic dermatitos lesion was checked by taking pictures Result : The patient's admission SCORAD index was 74.2 but during 32 days admission treatment the patients's symptoms are getting reduced. At last when she discharged, the SCORAD index was 16.1. Conclusion : In this study, herbal external therapy, aromatherapy and herb medication were shown to treat atopic dermatitis effectively by decreasing itching, oozing, crust, dryness, lichenification. It is very possible that external therapy can offer a valuable mode of the treatment of not only atopic dermatitis but also another eczema.

The external treatment of internal diseases was first recorded in Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經), and two hundred and fifty odd cases were found in the Bonchogangmok(本草綱目) and Oechisusebang(外治壽世方). Bonchogangmok(本草綱目) is a technical book devoted to explaining materia media as well as the external treatment of internal diseases. Oechisusebang(外治壽世方) is also a technical book, which make 36 references to the disease patterns of internal medicine. The medicinals employed as external treatment of internal diseases are grouped into 300 classes. These medicinals do not set limits to trees and plants but also uses birds and beasts, reptiles, grains, feces and urine, soil, stone etc., applied to various disease patterns. This study researched the medical texts in order to treat the disease patterns of internal medicine.

1. The external treatment of sprain and strain using the herb used adhesive(貼敷), using soaking in medicinal smoke to focuses and rinsing methods(熏洗), rubbing(擦擦) and hot compression(熱熨). 2. In the external treatment of sprain and strain using the herb, Adhesive(貼敷) is used most. Because Adhesive(貼敷) brings fast reactions, has less side effects, and can control the processing time. 3. The effects of herbs used in this external treatment are almost the same as oral herb-medicines such as, promoting blood flow to remove blood stasis(活血化瘀), relieving rheumatic conditions(祛風濕), and removing obstruction in meridians and collaterals(通經絡).
