  • For high-performance TFT (Thin film transistor), poly-crystalline semiconductor thin film with low resistivity and high hall carrier mobility is necessary. But, conventional SPC (Solid phase crystallization) process has disadvantages in fabrication such as long annealing time in high temperature or using very expensive Excimer laser. On the contrary, MIC (Metal-induced crystallization) process enables semiconductor thin film crystallization at lower temperature in short annealing time. But, it has been known that the poly-crystalline semiconductor thin film fabricated by MIC methods, has low hall mobility due to the residual metals after crystallization process. In this study, Ni metal was shallow implanted using PIII&D (Plasma Immersion Ion Implantation & Deposition) technique instead of depositing Ni layer to reduce the Ni contamination after annealing. In addition, the effect of external magnetic field during annealing was studied to enhance the amorphous silicon thin film crystallization process. Various thin film analytical techniques such as XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), Raman spectroscopy, and XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy), Hall mobility measurement system were used to investigate the structure and composition of silicon thin film samples.

  • Persistent current switch (PCS) system in NMR, MRI, MAGLEV and SMES has many advantages, such as uniformity and durability of magnetic field and reducing a thermal loss, which enable many superconducting application to operate effectively. This paper deals with fabrication and test of heater trigger persistent current switch using coated conductor (CC) which has high n-index, critical current independency from external magnetic field and adaptable selectivity of stabilizer. PCS system consists of magnet power supply for energizing current to a magnet, heater, switch and magnet using coated conductor tape. Finite element method (FEM) is used to simulate thermal quench (switching) characteristic and design heater trigger. With FEM simulation, optimal length of heater is calculated by temperature and time analysis. Fabrication of PCS system and test of heater trigger characteristic were performed and compared with simulation result. This paper would be the foundation of researches of superconducting switching application.

  • The HDDR process can be used as an effective means of processing of the coercive Nd-Fe-B-type or the Sm2Fe17Nx materials. The HDDR (hydrogenation, disproportionation, desorption, recombination) processed materials are feartured with a very fine microstructure. The thermomagnetic characteristics of the Nd-Fe-B-type or the Sm2Fe17Nx materials with fine microstructure due to the HDDR process were investigated. It has been found that the fine-microstructured hard magnetic materials showed an unusual TMA (Thermomagnetic analysis) tracting featured with a low and constant magnetization at lower temperature range and a peak just below their Curie temperatures when a low external field is applied. This thermomagnetic characteristic was immediate particularly in the TMA with a low applied field. This thermomagnetic characteristic was interpreted in terms of the competition between two counteracting effects; the decrease in magnetication due to the thermal agitation at an elevated temperature and the increase in magnetization resulting from the rotation of magnetization of the fine grains comparable to a critical single domain size due to the decreased magnetocrystalline anisotropy at an elevated temperature.

  • A micromirror for a laser display system actuated by the electromagnetic force induced by the surface coil and the permanent magnet was designed and analyzed through the coupled physics analyses incorporating the electromagnetics, mechanics, and electrothermal analysis because the mechanical rotation of the micromirror is driven by the electromagnetic driving force. The proposed micromirror has two torsion beams to sustain the mirror plate which has surface coils on the top and the two permanent magnets exists on both sides of the micromirror for an external magnetic field source. The designed micromirror has the resonant frequency of 3.82kHz. When the magnetic field of the permanent magnet is 0.4T, the coil has 4 turns, and the current density of coil is 3.6A/$mm^2$, the estimated z axis displacement of the mirror plate edge is 0.23mm which corresponds to the rotation angle of $14.2^{\circ}$. When considering the joule heating in the current-carrying coil, the maximum temperature of the mirror plate is obtained as 300.045K, which induces the negligible changes in the rotation angle and the resistance of the coil.

  • The inrush current of transformer can flow when the overvoltage caused by surge or external faults is applied. In this paper, an algorithm for the calculation of this inruch current is proposed. The capacitances of windings are precalculated by using 3 dimensional FEM and are appended to circuit of the transformer. And transient characteristics of the transformer are analyzed by axisymmetric FEM which is coupled magnetic field of transformer and circuit of transformer. When a transformer encounters abnormal voltage, using the proposed method, internal magnetic field of transformer, voltages and currents of windings are calculated.

  • We in this paper study nonlinear bending of a functionally graded porous nanobeam subjected to multiple physical load based on the nonlocal strain gradient theory. For more reasonable analysis of nanobeams made of porous functionally graded magneto-thermo-electro-elastic materials (PFGMTEEMs), both constituent materials and the porosity appear gradient distribution in the present expression of effective material properties, which is much more suitable to the actual compared with the conventional expression of effective material properties. Besides the displacement function regarding physical neutral surface is introduced to analyze mechanical behaviors of beams made of FGMs. Then we derive nonlinear governing equations of PFGMTEEMs beams using the principle of Hamilton. To obtain analytical solutions, a two-step perturbation method is developed in nonuniform electric field and magnetic field, and then we use it to solve nonlinear equations. Finally, the analytical solutions are utilized to perform a parametric analysis, where the effect of various physical parameters on static bending deformation of nanobeams are studied in detail, such as the nonlocal parameter, strain gradient parameter, the ratio of nonlocal parameter to strain gradient parameter, porosity volume fraction, material volume fraction index, temperature, initial magnetic potentials and external electric potentials.

  • The magneto-rheological fluid expresses different cohesiveness according to the strength of the external electric current. The magneto-rheological fluid damper, which uses such characteristics of the fluid, generates shear force due to the fluid's cohesiveness. The core can be said to determine the magneto-rheological fluid damper's performance. This study uses the finite element analysis to compare the performance of different electromagnetic forces, which are affected by the shapes of the coil, and thus to find the optimum design for the core. In addition, as a step to construct a high-efficient damper, we suggest a type of damper that can control multiple coils and compares the performance of this damper and that of the standard damper by comparing the performance of their electro-magnetic fields.

  • In this study, a novel long term stabilization method of optical feedback for the resonant cavity coupled semiconductor lasers is proposed, and its utility was shown experimentally. The proposed method is realized by using the pahse discriminator of optical feedback with high gain. The phase discriminating signal was obtained by the polarization spectroscopic technique using reflection light from the external reflector, which is a confocal Fabry-Perot cavity. Experimental result shows that stable control state can be maintained up to 20 hours. The period can be increased by reducing size of the system and/or fixing position stably of optical parts used, which were arranged on an optical table by using magnetic bases in this experiment. The proposed long-term stabilization method of optical feedack of a resonant external cavity coupled semiconductor laser is very useful for the field of high sensitivity measurement, and for the use in the laboratory level in particular.

  • A new model for the continuous-magnetic interferences has been proposed in this paper to remove external interferes of magnetic field to the dual electric compass. By this removal, the dual electric compass can be used for proving the azimuth angle in an automobile navigation system instead of the rate gyroscope. In the navigation system with a GPS receiver, a DR sensor such as a rate gyroscope is needed to overcome the shielded areas, which is relatively expensive and requires frequent calibrations. However the dual electric compass designed by this research is cheap and provides absolute azimuth angle precisely, which is beneficiary to be used as a DR sensor. The main contribution of this paper is that the long-lasting magnetic interferences have been removed out by using the proposed model, which never be studied before. With a hybrid navigation system using a DR sensor, we demonstrated that dual electric compass is better than a rate gyroscope in terms of both economics and performances.

  • Buckling and free vibration analysis of sandwich micro plate (SMP) integrated with piezoelectric layers embedded in orthotropic Pasternak are investigated in this paper. The refined Zigzag theory (RZT) is taken into consideration to model the SMP. Four different types of functionally graded (FG) distribution through the thickness of the SMP core layer which is reinforced with single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are considered. The modified couple stress theory (MCST) is employed to capture the effects of small scale effects. The sandwich structure is exposed to a two dimensional magnetic field and also, piezoelectric layers are subjected to external applied voltages. In order to obtain governing equation, energy method as well as Hamilton's principle is applied. Based on an analytical solution the critical buckling loads and natural frequency are obtained. The effects of volume fraction of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), different distributions of CNTs, foundation stiffness parameters, magnetic and electric fields, small scale parameter and the thickness of piezoelectric layers on the both critical buckling loads and natural frequency of the SMP are examined. The obtained results demonstrate that the effects of volume fraction of CNTs play an important role in analyzing buckling and free vibration behavior of the SMP. Furthermore, the effects of magnetic and electric fields are remarkable on the mechanical responses of the system and cannot be neglected.
