The Fabrication of Micro-heaters with Low Consumption Power Using SOI and Trench Structures and Its Characteristics (SOI와 트랜치 구조를 이용한 초저소비전력형 미세발열체의 제작과 그 특성)

  • This paper presents the optimized design, fabrication and thermal characteristics of micro-heaters for thermal MEMS (micro elelctro mechanical system) applications usign SOI (Si-on-insulator) and trench structures. The micro-heater is based on a thermal measurement principle and contains for thermal isolation regions a 10㎛ thick Si membrane with oxide-filled trenches in the SOI membrane rim. The micro-heater was fabricated with Pt-RTD (resistance thermometer device) on the same substrate by suing MgO as medium layer. The thermal characteristics of the micro-heater wit the SOI membrane is 280$\^{C}$ at input power 0.9W; for the SOI membrane with 10 trenches, it is 580$\^{C}$ due to reduction of the external thermal loss. Therefore, the micro-heater with trenches in SOI membrane rim provides a powerful and versatile alternative technology for improving the performance of micro-thermal sensors and actuators.

  • In the present study, numerical simulation has been performed to investigate the characteristics of the mist flow through the fire suppression nozzles. The commercial CFD software, FLUENT with the proper modeling was applied in both the internal and external flow region of the spray nozzles. Applications were done to the full cone nozzle for the operation range of the low pressure and high flow-rate. Numerical validation was proved by the comparison of the experimental data. Parametric study of the key design factors was tried to improve the performance.

  • In recent years, stimuli-responsive materials have garnered interest due to their ability to change properties when exposed to external stimuli, making it useful for various applications including gas separation. Light is a very attractive trigger for responsive materials due to its speedy and non-invasive nature as well as the potential to reduce energy costs significantly. Even though light is deemed as an appealing stimulus for the development of stimuli-responsive materials, this avenue has yet to be extensively researched, as evidenced by the fewer works done on the photo-responsive membranes. Of these, there are even less research done on photo-responsive materials for the purpose of gas separation, thus, we have collected the examples that answer both these criteria in this review. This review covers the utilisation of photo-responsive materials specifically for gas separation purposes. Photo-chromic units, their integration into gas separation systems, mechanism and research that have been done on the topic so far are discussed.

  • Low power consumption sensor network platform (sensor node) for sensor networking with IEEE 802.15.4 protocol was fabricated. The sensor node used ceramic bar type antenna for increasing RF signal performance and decreasing PCB size occupied by antenna. The communication range of the fabricated sensor node was about $20{\sim}30$ m in open environment with 915 MHz frequency bandwidth and well supported by Tiny OS. The sensor node have good connectivity with various external devices by RS-232, I2C, analogue and digital expansion board, hence, this sensor node can be applied to various applications in wireless sensor network and ubiquitous sensor network.

  • In this paper, adaprive control and sliding mode control are combined to implement the proposed adaptive sliding mode control(ASMC) algorithm which is new approach to the control of industrial robot manipulator with external disturbances and parameter uncertainties. Adaptive control algorithm is designed by using the principle of the model reference adaptive control method based upon the hyperstability theory. The contribution of this method is that the parameters of the sliding surface are replaced by time varying parameters whose are calculated by an adaptation algorithm, which forces the errors to follow the behavior of a reference error model. Simulation results show that the proposed method not only improves the performance of the system but also reduces the chattering problem of sliding mode control. Consequently, it is expected that the new adaptive sliding mode control algorithm will be suited for various practical applications.

  • In general, the state of system can be effected by external noise and observed only through a noisy channel. Therefore we use the estimation technigue for the information of state of the system effected by noise. There are many filters such as kalman-Buchy filter, kalman filter, Extended Kalman filter algorithm, cononlinear, extended Kalman filter algorithm to the estimation of parameters is very useful and has a long history. Also a considerable number of applications of this method has been reported. In this paper, the robot control system is treated in stochastic optimal control because of the robots doing a complicated and accurate task in inapproate environment. We have conclusion that error covariance is converged and the stability of filtering is obtained.

  • Magnetic bearing has been adopted to support a rotor by electromagnetic force without mechanical contact and lubrication process. The recent growth of magnetic bearing applications in many industrial fields requires more accurate design of bearing-rotor system. Due to external forces and uncertainties of magnetic bearing system the actual performance and stability my be worse than it is designed. This paper describes the governing equations of rotor magnetic bearing systems and/or the designing of robust controller via standard $H_{\infty}$ control problem. The system stability and response characteristics are studied by simulations and verified with experimental results.

  • In korea, PV business has been growing fast since 2000. There are many ways to build PV System. Among them, BIPV(Building Integrated Photovoltaic) System using PV Modules as external wall has been carried out research on and invested much. Thus I will suggest another way to apply the BIPV System. This System is Eco System designed to consume little energy working the blind by the power that the BIPV System generates. I will show you how to make and apply this BIPV System.

  • Thanks to the development of applications, many people are using a smart phone cradle these days. But it has some problems. First of all, it is hard to fix on automobiles. Also, it is vulnerable to external vibration. Recognizing these problems, we decided to improve this device by using FreeCAD and ANSYS. Because FreeCAD is newly invented software, we used another 3D modeling software to cover shortages of tools in FreeCAD. Also, we used famous analysis software 'ANSYS' to analyze bending deformation, modal analysis, and harmonic analysis.

  • We have studied the Pixel Isolated Phase Separated Composite Organic Film (PI-PSCOF). The PI-PSCOF can be made by the anisotropic phase separation between Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals and Pre-polymer materials by irradiating the UV with optimizing its intensity and time. In the technology, the FLC molecules are isolated in pixels where FLCs are surrounded by the inter-pixel vertical polymer walls and the horizontal polymer films on the upper substrate. The good merits of this technology are fast response time, and good mechanical and thermal stability against external high pressure and temperature. We will compare the results obtained from FLC, PSCOF, and PI-PSCOF modes by using the electro-optic measurement and x-ray scattering, and mechanical method. We believe that the PI-PSCOF technology can be a best candidate for future Flexible Display Applications.
