  • It is the aim of this study to introduce the application method for the new estimation system of deterioration caused performance decrement of exterior wall by infrared theromography. With this help of this trial test, the defect such as void and honeycomb of esveria wall can be shown easily. Espicially by selecting the weathering condition, it becomes easier to identify defect than with original image. It was confirmed that this trial monitoring system is very useful to identify the defect of exterior wall.

한옥 유지관리매뉴얼 개발을 위한 결함 유형 현장 조사 (A Field Investigation of Defect Type for Development of Maintenance Manual of Han-ok)

  • To collection of field data for development of maintenance manual of Han-ok, we investigated defects which occurred in members of Han-ok by field investigation. The noticeable defects were wood cracks, gaps that developed between wood pillar and wall or wood window frame and tenon joints. The most common biological defect was blue stain which was created in log. The mold generation was observed on exterior wood and wall which get wet by precipitation. The gaps between members of Han-ok pointed out as defect that is urgently improved by residents of Han-ok. The reason is mainly due to poor of insulation in winter by bad confidentiality. The maintenance work of defect such as gap was conducted personally. As a result, the repair parts were ugly for unfamiliar repair work.

디스플레이용 외장패널의 가스사출공정 개발 (Development of a Gas Assisted Injection Molding Process for Exterior Display Panels)

  • Gas Assisted Injection Molding is a relatively new low-pressure injection molding technique that provides benefits such as reduced part warpage, excellent surface quality without shrink marks, greater design flexibility, etc. In the gas assisted injection molding process, the injected pressurized nitrogen gas flows through designed gas channels and forms hollow sections within the part. However, due to the characteristics of the gas, the design of the gas channels which are the paths for the injected gas is important in order to avoid defects such as gas blowout, fingering, etc. Therefore, in this study, the gas channel design for gas assisted injection molding of exterior display panels was conducted by examining the results of three CAE analyses. The designed gas channel was verified by conducting tryouts using a 450 ton injection molding machine with 3-stage pressure controlled gas kit. In addition, the hollow shapes which were formed by the gas with the installed gas channels were examined by examining the cross sections of the prototypes that were produced. As a result, it was found that exterior display panels can be produced without any defect by applying the gas assisted injection molding technique.

DEFECT DETECTION WITHIN A PIPE USING ULTRASOUND EXCITED THERMOGRAPHY

  • An UET (ultrasound excited thermography) has been used for several years for a remote non-destructive testing in the automotive and aircraft industry. It provides a thermo sonic image for a defect detection. A thermograhy is based On a propagation and a reflection of a thermal wave, which is launched from the surface into the inspected sample by an absorption of a modulated radiation. For an energy deposition to a sample, the UET uses an ultrasound excited vibration energy as an internal heat source. In this paper the applicability of the UET for a realtime defect detection is described. Measurements were performed on two kinds of pipes made from a copper and a CFRP material. In the interior of the CFRP pipe (70mm diameter), a groove (width - 6mm, depth - 2.7mm, and length - 70mm) was engraved by a milling. In the case of the copper pipe, a defect was made with a groove (width - 2mm, depth - 1mm, and length - 110 mm) by the same method. An ultrasonic vibration energy of a pulsed type is injected into the exterior side of the pipe. A hot spot, which is a small area around the defect was considerably heated up when compared to the other intact areas, was observed. A test On a damaged copper pipe produced a thermo sonic image, which was an excellent image contrast when compared to a CFRP pipe. Test on a CFRP pipe with a subsurface defect revealed a thermo sonic image at the groove position which was a relatively weak contrast.

경상북도 지역 노후 콘크리트사방댐 정밀점검 결과의 통계적 분석 (A Statistical Analysis of Results of Detailed Inspections on Aged Concrete Erosion Control Dams in Gyeongsangbuk-do)

  • 이 연구는 「사방시설의 유지관리 지침」에 의거하여 수행된 노후 콘크리트사방댐에 대한 정밀점검 결과를 분석하여, 향후 콘크리트사방댐의 관리 방안을 수립하는데 필요한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 경상북도 사유림에 위치한 준공 후 20년 이상 경과된 54개 콘크리트 사방댐에 대한 정밀점검의 결과를 통계적 방법으로 분석하였다. 외관 결함사항 점검의 결과, 보수 혹은 후속조치가 필요한 것이 18개소(33.4%)를 차지하였으며, 조사자 보정점수로 인하여 종합등급이 변경된 사례로 15개소가 나타나 관련 기준과 지표의 표준화가 필요할 것으로 생각되었다. 콘크리트 압축강도시험의 결과, 기준치에 미달하는 것은 19개소(35.2%)로 조사되었으며, 이중에는 외관 결함사항 점검 결과 상태가 양호한 것으로 판단된 A등급에서도 8개소가 포함되어 있었다. 또한, 종합점수와 콘크리트 압축강도 사이에는 뚜렷한 상관관계가 나타나지 않았으나, 종합등급별로 콘크리트 압축강도는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다. 한편, 준공 후 경과연수에 따른 사방댐의 특성 변화를 분석한 결과, 시간 경과와 종합점수 및 압축강도의 변화는 특별한 경향을 나타내지 않았다. 하지만, 보수·후속조치가 필요한 사방댐과 압축강도 기준치 미달 사방댐의 누적 비율은 모두 시간 경과와 강한 양의 선형관계가 있는 것으로 분석되어, 이를 활용하면 콘크리트사방댐의 노후 특성을 파악할 수 있을 것으로 기대되었다.

  • The area inside the apartment building where tiles are installed is applied as a finishing material for walls and floors, including exterior walls, balconies, hallways, bathrooms, and kitchens. As it is constructed in various spaces, differences in the type and period of occurrence of tile defects may appear, which is caused by heterogeneous characteristics between materials and external causes. Therefore, in this study, two-way ANOVA was used to figure out the relationship between the defect occurrence type and the period depending on the type of tile construction in the apartment building.

하자분쟁사례를 통한 공동주택 하자 중요도 평가에 관한 연구 (Evaluating Importance of Defects through Defect Dispute Case Study in Apartment Buildings)

  • 공동주택 하자는 추가적으로 투입되는 각종 자원의 낭비, 경제적 비용손실로 연결되며, 입주자들에게는 시간적, 물질적, 정신적 피해를 주고, 기업에게는 금전적인 손실뿐만 아니라 기업 신용도를 추락하는 문제를 발생시킨다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구에서는 다수의 하자분쟁 사례를 활용하여 공동주택 공종/하자유형/부위에 대하여 하자 빈도 및 심각도를 고려한 중요도를 산출하여 공동주택 하자관리 효율성을 제고하고, 하자분쟁을 최소화하는데 기여하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 본 논문에서는 공동주택 하자분쟁사례 48건, 약 7,548개의 하자항목 자료를 토대로 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과를 정리하면, 하자가 주로 발생하는 공종은 RC, 마감, MEP 공종이며, 중요도가 높은 하자유형은 균열, 누수, 오시공, 미시공 등인 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 하자부위의 경우 상대적으로 현장 설치 중심의 가구, 설비기기보다 현장 시공 중심의 외벽, 내벽, 내부 천장 및 바닥이 하자 중요도가 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 이에 따라 기본적으로 생애주기 각 단계별 품질관리를 철저히 할 필요도 있지만, 내부공간을 구성하는 부위의 경우, Pre-fabrication에 대한 활용성을 높이는 것을 고려할 필요가 있다.

건축물 외관의 오염방지를 위한 계획적 방안 연구 - 서울시 구청을 대상으로 - (A Study on the Planning Methods for Pollution Prevention of Building Exterior - Focused On the Public Borough Offices in Seoul -)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the planning methods for pollution prevention in the initial design stage by identifying the pollution phenomena on the exterior of the building. It is important to catch the problem early on because exterior troubles begin with an initial design defect and causes rapid aging. The scope of this study is seoul public borough offices that should be sustainable for long as landmark located at the center of the district. Field survey was conducted three times in six months. Twenty-six borough offices were diagnosed with three levels of contamination through visual inspection and the contaminated locations, types, materials, and characteristics were checked. Fourteen common contaminated locations were identified in the first and intensively rechecked in the second. Five locations vulnerable to contamination were designated and the contamination and cleanliness situations were checked by location in the third. As a result, main polluted types and locations are sloping wall, upper wall, protruded wall, canopy, and wall under window. The key to avoiding these pollution problems is to minimize the horizontal plane on which dust can be deposited. In other words, it can be considered variously by shape and location, such as the slope of the horizontal plane, the floating of the surface, the installation of the roof surface, and the vertical louvers. And throating plans and material plans suitable for each location are presented. Various methods of the shape and location, material are expected to use as useful basic data for preventing pollutions during the initial design stage.

Applying Lean, Green, and Six-Sigma Framework to Improve Exterior Construction Process in Saudi Arabia

  • Over the last decade, Saudi Arabia has experienced significant economic increases as evidenced by the 30% growth in its gross domestic product; furthermore, the construction industry has increased 10% in the same time period. Due to this significant growth, the construction industry is encountering issues related to construction quality resulting in significant waste and associated environmental impacts. In this research, we applied our previously developed framework that integrates three different methods-Lean, Green, and Six-sigma - to a residential construction complex in Saudi Arabia. Our aim of this case study was to explore the application of the framework in practice to glean quantitative results and further validate the framework. In the case study, we used the developed framework to identify a significant issue related to quality and delays - final completion of 53 residential units was delayed because of failed exterior buildings surfaces. We then used the framework to define the causes behind the defects via a field investigation of the 53 units. Of the defect, construction execution was responsible for 43% of the defect, 31% untrained workers, 19% unfavorable construction weather condition, with 7% accounting for other issues. A procedure was developed in concert with the construction manager and overall developer reducing the amount of rework and waste causes revealed by the field examination and the framework. Although two steps were added to the original construction process to overcome waste causes, still save a lot of resources and reduces environmental impact. In summary, we found that the Lean, Green, Six-sigma framework increased productivity, quality, and reduced waste.
