  • The article deals with the problem of extending representations of a closed normal subgroup H to a topological group G. We show that the standard technique using group cohomology to solve the problem in the case of finite groups can be generalized in the category of topological groups if G/H is discrete.

  • An elliptic module is an analogue of an elliptic curve over a function field [D]. The dual of an elliptic curve E is represented by Ext(E, $G_{m}$) and the Cartier dual of an affine group scheme G is represented by Hom(G, G$G_{m}$). In the category of elliptic modules the Carlitz module C plays the role of $G_{m}$. Taguchi [T] showed that a notion of duality of a finite t-module can be represented by Hom(G, C) in a suitable category. Our computation shows that the Ext-group as it stands is rather too "big" to represent a dual of an elliptic module.(omitted)

  • Assume G is a finite p-group and i is a fixed positive integer. In this paper, finite p-groups G with ${\mid}N_G(H):H{\mid}=p^i$ for all nonnormal subgroups H are classified up to isomorphism. As a corollary, this answer Problem 116(i) proposed by Y. Berkovich in his book "Groups of Prime Power Order Vol. I" in 2008.

  • We study the structure of a generalization of right nilpotent-duo rings in relation with powers of elements. Such a ring property is said to be weakly right nilpotent-duo. We find connections between weakly right nilpotent-duo and weakly right duo rings, in several algebraic situations which have roles in ring theory. We also observe properties of weakly right nilpotent-duo rings in relation with their subrings and extensions.

  • A fast and robust method of grid generation to multiple functions has been developed for flow analysis in three dimensional space. It is based on the Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline of an approximation method. The grid generation method, details of numerical implementation. examples of application, and potential extensions of the current method are illustrated in this paper.

  • In this paper, we introduce and study a comprehensive family of harmonic univalent functions which contains various well-known classes of harmonic univalent functions as well as many new ones. Also, we improve some results obtained by Frasin [3] and obtain coefficient bounds, distortion bounds and extreme points, convolution conditions and convex combination are also determined for functions in this family. It is worth mentioning that many of our results are either extensions or new approaches to those corresponding previously known results.

  • This thesis presents a design and partial implementation of a program family of extended pretty printers. Factors that influence the readability (perception) and understand ability (cognition) of computer programs are indentified, previous work is reviewed, and new solutions are suggested. Extensions to the previous pretty printer designs include a capability to selectively display levels of control of a program. In order to accommodate different computer languages and to allow for, several secondary functions, a family of pretty printers is designed. This design facilitates easy extension, contraction and modification.

  • Category theory gives a convenient language for the study of mathematical structures besides its own study. In this paper, we investigate how the abstract structure theory emerged in 1930s affects the study in Topology and eventually becomes a rudiment for the category theory. Moreover, various extensions and universal mapping problems were put in their proper perspective as reflections by the category theory and by its duality principle, coreflections become an interesting subject in Topology, both of which give rise to a new discipline of the categorical topology.

  • It is suggested that the difference between co-referential and bound reflexive pronouns found in many languages can be accounted for by using the notion of the case extension of a type <1> quantifier. Given this proposal the co-referential pronouns get their meaning when the corresponding NP takes nominal case extension first. Bound reflexives are reflexivisers in the sense that they are not case extensions of quantifiers although they also transform binary relations into sets. Examples from Japanese and from Polish are discussed.

  • In this paper, a thoery for the static analysis of large plastic deformations of 3-dimentional frames, aiming at application to the collapse analysis of ship structures, is presented. In the frame analysis formulation, effects of shear deformations are included. A plastic hinge is inserted into the field of a beam and post-failure deformation of the plastic hinge is characterized by finite rotations and extensions. In order to model deep web frames of ship's structures into a framed structures, collapse of thin-walled plate girders is investigated. The proposed analysis method is applied to several ship structural models in the references.
