  • Motion estimation plays an important role for video coding. In this paper, we derive optimal search patterns for fast block matching motion estimation. By analyzing the block matching algorithm as a function of block shape and size, we can find an optimal search pattern for initial motion estimation. The proposed idea, which has been verified experimentally by computer simulations, can provide an analytical basis for the current MPEG-2 proposals. In order to choose a more compact search pattern for BMA, we exploit the statistical relationship between the motion and the frame difference of each block.

  • Recently efficient image coding algorithms using zerotree have been proposed. In these methods, the locations of nonzero wavelet coefficients are encoded with a tree structure, called zerotree, which can exploit the self-similarity of the wavelet pyramid decomposition across different scales. These are very effective, especially in low bit rate image coding. In this paper, two zerotree image coding algorithms, EZW and SPIHT, are briefly introduced, and a new zerotree searching scheme is proposed to emphasize the significance of a wavelet coefficient by its orientations as well as its scale.

  • ACTD(Advanced Concept Technology Demonstrations) exploit mature technologies to solve important military problems. A declining budget, significant changes in threats, and an accelerated pace of technology development have challenged our ability to adequately respond to rapidly evolving military needs. This work descibes ACTD processes, management, and ACTD programs case. It is presesyed a defense acquisition program applied ACTD.A scheme of the defense asquisition program using ACTD met military needs and technology readiness level is described.

  • In this paper, we study the two dimensional g-NavierStokes equations on some unbounded domain ${\Omega}\;{\subset}\;R^2$. We prove the existence of the global attractor for the two dimensional g-NavierStokes equations under suitable conditions. Also, we estimate the dimension of the global attractor. For this purpose, we exploit the concept of asymptotic compactness used by Rosa for the usual Navier-Stokes equations.

  • Most applications of polymers involve blends and mixtures of components including solvents, surfactants, copolymers, fillers, organic or inorganic functional additives, and various processing aids. These components provide unique properties of polymeric materials even beyond those tailored into the basic chemical structures. In addition, skillful processing extends the properties for even greater applications. The perennial challenge of polymer science is to understand and exploit the structure-processing-property interplay relationship. We are developing and demonstrating combinatorial methods and high throughput analysis as tools to provide this fundamental understanding.

  • In this paper we consider strongly polynomial variations of the auction algorithm for the single origin/all destinations shortest path problem. These variations are based on the idea of graph reduction, that is, deleting unnecessary arcs of the graph by using certain bounds naturally obtained in the course of the algorithm. We study the structure of the reduced graph and we exploit this structure to obtain algorithm with O(n min{m, nlogn}) and O(n$^{2}$) running time.

  • Transmission loss retains a complete set of system state information. If we could exploit its behavior, we could find various useful applications. This study is a such exploitation to find same possibilities of the loss application. It seems to have very prospective possibilities. It has been tried to establish some network indices to indicate operation margin. And further some prospective applications are suggested.

  • In this paper, we will expand and generalize the orthogonal functions as basis functions for dynamical system representations. The orthogonal functions can be considered as generalizations of, for example, the pulse functions, Laguerre functions, and Kautz functions, and give rise to an alternative series expansion of rational transfer functions. It is shown row we can exploit these generalized basis functions to increase the speed of convergence in a series expansion. The set of Kautz functions is discussed in detail and, using the power-series equivalence, the truncation error is obtained. And so we will present the influence of noises to use Kautz function on the identification accuracy.

  • In this paper, a programming system for robot-based manufacturing cell which can control and simulate manufacturing devices as well as robots in workcell is proposed and developed. The system is based on world model, and modem textual and object-level robot programming language and interactive graphic world modeler are used to construct and exploit world model. Graphic simulation is used as an efficient and easy to use debugging or verifying tool for user written robot programs. Machine dependency is minimized by adopting the hierarchical control structure and by assuming all the workcell components as virtual ones.

  • Lookback options, in the terminology of nance, are a type of exotic option with path dependency whose the payoff depends on the optimal (maximum or minimum) underlying asset's price occurring over the life of the option. In this paper, we exploit Mellin transform techniques to find a closed-form solution for European lookback options in Black-Scholes model.
