This experiment was undertaken to determine the effect of pasture ages on the total production and seasonal yield trends, botanical composition and forage quality of pasture mixtures. This experiment was conducted at the Livestock Experiment Station, RDA, Suweon. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Total dry matterDM) yield of pasture mixtures was the highest in the first year, and thereafter no significant reduction in the 2nd through the 4th year, but decreased by 30% in the 5th year. 2. The 34.4% of total DM yield was produced at the first cut, and decreased from then on. Total DM yield of pasture mixtures varied by year and climatic facton. In 1992, Total DM and TDN yields of pasture mixtures were 13.4 and 8.5 IvlT/ha, respectively. 3. The content of crude protein(CP), in virro DM digestibility(IVDMD) and TDN of pasture mixtures were 12-14, 70-80, and 62-65%, respectively. The highest forage quality was obtained at the 4th cutting. 4. The botanical compositions of legumes and weeds were increased as the year of establishment advanced, and highly increased at the 3rd cut after summer growth. 5. Based on the results of this study it appears that economic forage production could be expended to the 4th year with proper management, and the special renovation techniques may be needed for maintenance of pasture yield from the 5th year.
Processing and storage of the silage from agricultural by-products were studied in two experiments. The first experiment was conducted to investigate the chemical composition and degradability of various silages with varying ensiling times. The experiment was a 5$\times$3 factorial design, completely randomized, with factor A as the different formulated mixtures by varying level of urea addition (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0%) and factor B as the time of ensiling. Chemical composition changed little with time and varied only slightly with levels of urea in the mixtures. Dry matter (DM) degradability increased with increasing cassava levels while crude protein degradability and pH level increased with increasing urea addition. By using 'Flieg point', which relates to organic acid yields, there were no significant difference among ensiled mixtures and times of ensiling. Therefore it can be concluded that the 5th silage formulation is the most appropriate since its DM and crude protein (CP) degradability were highest. The second experiment was carried out to determine the quality of the 5th silage mixtures (from the previous trial) after being stored for up to 6 months. The experiment was a complete randomized design with samples taken at monthly intervals up to 6 months and subjected to laboratory and degradability analyses. The results showed no significant (p>0.05) difference in chemical composition except for increased neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber percentage in association with increasing storage time. There were no significant (p>0.05) differences in 'Flieg point' among times of storage. In conclusion, this experiment showed that the silage from agricultural by-products can be stored for more than 6 months.
A simple molecular theory of mixtures is formulated based on the nonrandom two-fluid lattice-hole theory of fluids. The model is applicable to mixtures over a density range from zero to liquid density. Pure fluids can be completely characterized with only two molecular parameters and an additional binary interaction energy is required for a binary mixture. The thermodynamic properties of ternary and higher order mixtures are completely defined in terms of the pure fluid parameters and the binary interaction energies. The Quantitative prediction of vapor-liquid, and solid-vapor equilibria of various mixtures are demonstrated. The model is useful, in particular, for mixtures whose molecules differ greatly in size. For real mixtures, satisfactory agreements are resulted from experiment. Also, the equation of state (EOS) is characterized well, even the liquid-liquid equilibria behaviors of organic mixtures and polymer solutions with a temperature-dependent binary interaction energy parameter.
$SF_6$ is the most commonly used insulating gas in electrical systems. But In these days $SF_6$ mixtures and alternative gas has been studied because of global warming. so although many studies have been carried out about binary gas mixtures with $SF_6$, few studies were presented about breakdown characteristics of $SF_6/N_2$ mixtures. At present study the breakdown characteristics of $SF_6/N_2$ mixtures in Non-uniform field was performed. In this paper, The simulation value are compared with experiment values. Streamer breakdown criterion was used for predicting breakdown voltage. For accurate simulation this simulation apply utilization factor using CST(computer simulation technology) EM $studio^{tm}$ program. AC breakdown experiments in non-uniform field was performed to compare with the breakdown simulation values. The pressure range of gas mixtures was 0.4 MPa to 0.7 MPa. The rod-plane was used and mixture ratio is $SF_6$ 20% : $N_2$ 80%. The gap lengths are 10mm to 70mm. As the pressure increase, this simulation value does not correspond to the experiment value. So this simulation need surface roughness factor. As a result of applying surface roughness factor this simulation decrease a relative error (|experiment value - simulation value| /simulation value).
PURPOSES : This research was a laboratory study for evaluating the Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) mixture added developed rejuvenator for warm mix recycling. Waste asphalt mixtures occupy about 18.2% of construction wastes in Korea. Moreover, most rejuvenators were imported from Europe or the U.S. Therefore, improving usage of RAP with a developed rejuvenator material provides environmental protection at a reduced cost. METHODS : The specimen used for this experiment was performed by only using RAP. A suitable rejuvenator for Target PG was then added. In addition, a conventional rejuvenator was selected to compare performance and specimens introduced with the same procedure as the developed rejuvenator was prepared. In order to evaluate rutting resistance and water susceptibility, we conducted a deformation strength test, a tensile strength ratio test, and a dynamic immersion test with the prepared mixtures. RESULTS :Laboratory test results indicated that both the developed additive and conventional additive improved performance of the recycled asphalt mixtures compared to mixtures without the rejuvenator. In addition, the deformation strength test and TSR test results satisfied standards for domestic recycling asphalt mixtures. The dynamic immersion test showed that the developed rejuvenator has superior scaling resistance than the conventional rejuvenator. CONCLUSIONS : In terms of rutting resistance and moisture susceptibility, the warm mix recycled asphalt mixtures with the developed rejuvenator appeared to effectively recovered performance.
In general, Gaussian mixture model(GMM) is used to estimate the speaker model for speaker identification. The parameter estimates of the GMM are obtained by using the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm for the maximum likelihood(ML) estimation. However, if the number of mixtures isn't defined well in the GMM, those parameters are obtained inappropriately. The problem to find the number of components is significant to estimate the optimal parameter in mixture model. In this paper, to estimate the optimal number of mixtures, we propose the method that starts from the sufficient mixtures, after, the number is reduced by investigating the mutual information between mixtures for GMM. In result, we can estimate the optimal number of mixtures. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by the experiment using artificial data. Also, we performed the speaker identification applying the proposed method comparing with other approaches.
When flammable gases are mixed with air or oxygen in the explosion concentration range and are ignited by sufficiently large electrostatic discharge energy, they may explode causing severe disaster in workplaces. The minimum ignition energy (MIE) of single gas-air mixtures has been already investigated by many researchers, but the MIE of mixtures of more than three substances is not examined yet. The purpose of this study is to investigate the MIE of several three-component gas mixtures experimentally. The result of our experiment shows that the MIE of some gas mixtures is quite different from that we expected based on the characteristics of individual gas-air mixture.
Short-term effect of phosphogypsum on soil properties including acidification, salinity and metal availability were investigated under laboratory and field conditions. Phosphogypsum and mixtures of phosphogypsum and compost were added to soil and incubated in a laboratory condition with 15% moisture content. Phosphogypsum treatments were 2.5 and 5.0 g/kg soil and in the treatments of phosphogypsum and compost mixture 10 g of compost was added additionally. After the 30 days of incubation, an additional phosphogypsum and/or compost were added to the remaining soils at the same rates of the first treatments. pH, electrical conductivity, and available hazardous elements were measured periodically during the incubation. Field experiment was conducted in a plastic film house of mellon with four treatments of phosphogypsum and compost mixtures - 25+125, 50+125, 50+250 and 100+250 kg/165 $m^2$. pH, electrical conductivity, and hazardous elements in soil and total hazardous elements in leaf were measured. In the laboratory experiment, after 30 days of the first phosphogypsum application, soil pHs were lowered by 0.7-0.8 units. After the second treatment of phosphogypsum 0.2 units of additional acidification occurred. However, acidification was not observed in the soils treated with mixtures of phosphogypsum and compost. In the laboratory experiment, phosphogypsum treatments increased electrical conductivity very significantly. In field experiment, pH and electrical conductivity of soils treated with phosphogypsum were nearly the same as those of soil not treated with phosphogypsum. Since soil condition in the field study was an open system, the free acids and salts derived from phosphogypsum could be diffused down with water leaching through the soil profile and then any significant acidification or salt accumulation in the topsoil could not be observed. In both laboratory and field experiments, levels of available hazardous elements in soils treated with phosphogypsum were quite low and not different from the levels found in the control soil. Results obtained from this study suggest that application of phosphogypsum at appropriate rates on agricultural land appears of no concern in terms of acidity, salinity and hazardous element content of soil.
When flammable gases are mixed with air or oxygen in the explosion concentration range and are ignited by sufficiently large electrostatic discharge energy, they may explode causing severe disaster in workplace. The minimum ignition energy(MIE) of single gas-air mixtures has been already investigated by many research, but the MIE of mixtures of more than ternary gas mixture is not examined yet. The purpose of this study is to investigate the MIE of a ternary gas(methane, ethylene, hydrogen, propane) mixtures experimentally. The results of our experiment show that the ignition of a methane-ethylene-air, methane-hydrogen-air, methane-propane-air, ethylene-hydrogen-air, ethylene-propane-air and hydrogen-propane-air mixture due to electrostatic discharge energy primarily depends on that the mixture: the MIE decreases gradually with the increase of having the lower MIE than other mixture ratio in the normal atmospheric pressure.
The object of this experiment was to suggest the suitable cutting frequency and cutting height for orchardgrass (0G)-red clover(RC) mixtures under the intensive system of short-term pasture utilization. The fields trials were conducted over 3-year period(1991-1993) to evaluate dry matter yield, botanical composition, chemical composition and CP, DDM yield on the cutting frequency (30, 40 and 50 days) and cutting height(5, 7 and 9cm) With decreasing the cutting frequency, the DM yield of OG in the OG-RC mixtures was significantly increased(P
