Development of a Health Education Modification Program Regarding Liver Flukes and Cholangiocarcinoma in High Risk Areas of Nakhon Ratchasima Province Using Self-Efficacy and Motivation Theory

  • A quasi-experimental study was conducted to develop a health education modification program based on self-efficacy and motivation regarding liver flukes and cholangiocarcinoma development in Keang Sanam Nang district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand. A total of 36 individuals were invited to participate in the program and were screened for population at risk of liver fluke infection and cholangiocarcinoma using SUT-OV-001 and SUT-CCA-001. Development of health education modification program regarding liver fluke and cholangiocarcinoma prevention included 3 steps: (1) preparation, (2) health education program, and (3) follow-up and evaluation. The study was implemented for 10 weeks. Pre-and-post-test knowledge was measured with questionnaires, Kuder-Richardson-20: KR-20 = 0.718,and Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient = 0.724 and 0.716 for percection and outcome expectation questionnaires. Paired and independent t-tests were applied for data analysis. The majority of the participants were female (55.6%), aged between ${\leq}50$ and 60 years old (36.1%), married (86.1%), education level of primary school (63.9%), agricultural occupation (80.6%), and income <4,000 Baht (44.4%). The results revealed that after the health education program, the experimental group had a mean score of knowledge, perception, and outcome expectation regarding liver fluke and cholangiocarcinoma prevention significantly higher than before participation and in the control group. In conclusion, this successful health education modification program for liver fluke and cholangiocarcinoma, therefore may useful for further work behavior modification in other epidemic areas.

The Study on the Effect of the Maternal Parenting Stress on the Children Depression (아동의 우울에 영향을 미치는 어머니 관련변인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this research is to delineate the effect of maternal variables of the children's depression. Such variables as the mother's age, her education level and maternal parenting stress have been chosen for the analysis. The sample subject were 659 pairs of fifth/sixth grade of elementary school and first/second grade of middle school and their mothers. The data were analyzed frequency, percentage, factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The major findings of the research are as follows : First, the children's depression is significantly related to mother's education level but the children's depression is not significantly related to mother's age. Second, parenting stress related to temperament, relationship and learning expectation is significantly related to children's depression. Third, the result of step multiple regression analysis on the effects of the maternal variables to the children's depression indicates that maternal parenting stress related to temperament, relationship and mother education level are the significant contributing factor. All in all, the maternal variables account for 7% of the children's depression score.

  • The school complex project is driven by public calling for school facilities change due to the social change followed by the aging society and increasing interest in the lifelong education. The school complex project is defined as an activity in which the school facilities and space are not only used for students, but also for the local residents. Since the project was promoted in a link with reform of the education system in 2001, the demand in the expectation effect has been sharply increasing. Despite of the high expectation and attention, the school complex project, however, has been performed in a limit of efficiency. Consequently, public opinion calling for more structured and effective way on construction and administration has been certainly increasing. According to the strong demand, this study was carried out to provide basic data for, and suggest an approach to, more structured and effective way of establishment and administration of the school complex project by comparing the success cases in Seoul metropolitan city.

Relationship between Grit and Achievement Behavior in Physical Education Classes Based on the Expected-Value Model (기대-가치 모델에 근거한 체육수업에서 그릿(Grit)과 성취행동의 관계 이해)

  • The purpose of this study was to test the mediation effects of grit on the relationship between expectancy-value and achievement behavior in physical education class. Data for the study were collected from a survey of 353 middle school students. For data processing, this study confirmed the goodness of fit test of the whole model using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0, and then did hypothesis testing; the study results are as follows: First, students' expectation-value perception had a positive effect on grit, and only success expectation had a significant effect on achievement behavior. Second, students' grit had significant impacts on their achievement behavior. Third, grit had mediating effects on relations between expectancy-value and achievement behavior.

Influence of Nurses' Self-leadership on Individual and Team Members' Work Role Performance (간호사의 셀프리더십 수준이 개인과 팀의 직무역할 수행에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine correlations between nurses' self-leadership and individual work role performance and correlations between self-leadership in nursing units and team members' work role performance. Methods: Participants were 202 conveniently selected general nurses from 5 general hospitals in Korea. The study was carried out on 35 nursing units. Data were collected during February 2015 with self-report questionnaires. Results: For factors affecting individual work role performance, self-expectation, self-goal setting, constructive thought, clinical career in the present nursing unit and marital status accounted for 44.0% of proficiency, while self-expectation, self-goal setting, constructive thought, and marital status accounted for 42.3% of adaptivity. Self-expectation, self-goal setting, constructive thought, self-reward, clinical career in the present nursing unit and position accounted for 26.4% of proactivity. In terms of team members' work role performance, self-reward and self-expectation in nursing units explained 29.0% of team members' proficiency. Self-reward and self-expectation in nursing units explained 31.6% of team members' adaptivity, and self-reward in nursing units explained 16.8% of team members' proactivity. Conclusion: The results confirm that nurses' self-leadership affects not only individual self-leadership but also team members' work role performance. Accordingly, to improve nurses' work role performance in nursing units of nursing organizations, improvement in nursing environment based on self-leadership education is necessary and nurses' tasks rearranged so they can appreciate work-autonomy and challenges of work.

Value orientation and the relationship between nurse′s role perception and patient′s expectation on selected routine nursing activities (간호원의 역할인식과 환자의 기대 -기본 간호역할의 가치의식을 중심으로-)

  • This study was undertaken in an attempt to; 1) measure value orientation of nursing activities, 2) identify the relationship between nurse's role perception and patient's expectation, and 3) evaluate the pattern of nursing education and nursing service administration. 203 hospitalized adults and 203 professional nurses from 11 general hospitals in Seoul during the period of July to December 1973 were tested according to questionnaire based on 4 categories of clinical nursing activities, 1) physical care, 2) observation and control, 3) psycho-social care and 4) therapeutic measures. Results of the study are as follows: 1. Nurses were more concerned than patients in the physical care category. Significant difference was revealed by p<.01 level (t=2.800). Mean value score of nurses was average (2.84), and mean value score of patients was relative' y low (2.49). None of the physical care category questionnaire items were over 3.5. 2. Respondents from hospitals of total care system revealed significant difference in the physical care category by P〈.025 level. (t=2.242). Mean value score of both group were average level (nurse 2.90, patient 2.53), nurses showed higher concern. 3. Difference between nurse's role perception and patient's expectation in observation and control category was revealed non- significance by p〉0.05. level (t=1.238). Mean value score of both group revealed relatively high (nurse=3.44, patient 3.19). 4. Difference between nurse's role perception and patient〉expectation in psycho-social cart category revealed non- significance by p〉.05 level (t=0.758), Mean value score of both group revealed average level (nurse =2.71, patient =2.53), 5. Non- significant difference was noted between B. S. N. and diploma nurse's role perception in the psycho- social care category by p> 0.1 level (t=0.316). 4. Difference between nurse's role perception and patient's expectation in the rapeutic me assures category revealed non- significance by p〉0.05 level) t=0.503). Horses showed high concern by mean value score 3.56 level and patients relatively high by 3.41. All items of this category revealed very high or relatively high value score.

The Expectation of Medical Artificial Intelligence of Students Majoring in Health in Convergence Era (융복합 시대에 일부 보건계열 전공 학생들의 의료용 인공지능에 대한 기대도)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the expectation toward medical artificial intelligence(AI) of students in majoring health, and to utilize it as a basic data for widespread use of medical AI for 500 students majoring in health science at Cheonan city. The awareness of AI was 18.6%, the reliability of AI was 24.8%, and agreement to use of medical AI was 38%. Also, the higher the awareness and reliability of AI were, the higher the expectation of AI was. As a result, education on medical AI in the major field should be a cornerstone for the development of an effective healthcare environment utilizing medical AI by raising awareness, reliability and expectation of AI.

Comparison Analysis of School Foodservice Dietitians' Job Satisfaction, Work Value, and Turnover Intention Based on the Expectation to be a Nutrition Teacher (학교 급식 관리 영양사의 영양교사 제도에 대한 기대감에 따른 직무만족도, 근로가치관 및 이직의도의 차이 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the difference of school food service dietitians' work value, job satisfaction, and turnover intention based on their expectation to be a nutrition teacher. Also, this study explored the differences in expectation to be a nutrition teacher, work value, job satisfaction, turnover intention depending on demographics and school foodservice operational characteristics. This study surveyed dietitians who worked at school foodservice in Kyunggii and Daegu Gyeoungbuk Province. A total of 509 responses were collected using on-site survey and online survey (59.3%). Dietitians expressed favorable work value ($3.88{\pm}0.34$) and mid level of a job satisfaction ($2.99{\pm}0.64$). The percentage of dietitians who had an intention to leave after the promulgation of a nutrition teacher system (13.2%) was lower than that of dietitians who had an intention to leave prior to it (23.2%). Most dietitians expected a salary rise (84.7%), more chance to teach nutrition education (76.0%), and the improvement of power not only as a teacher but as a dietitian (72.7%). Dietitians who had higher expectation levels to be a nutrition teacher (> 3 on the 5 point Likert scale) showed a higher tendency of significant turnover intention (F = 4.40, p < 0.01) and more confident work value (F = 15.292, p < 0.001) when comparing those who had lower expectations. There were significant differences in work value, job satisfaction, turnover intention, and expectation to be a nutrition teacher depending on career length and employment status of dietitians. This study revealed that school food service dietitians have favorable expectations to be nutrition teachers with high work value.

The Relations among Stigma, Expectation About Counseling, and Attitude Toward Seeking Counseling in College Students (대학생의 낙인, 상담에 대한 기대와 상담 추구태도 간의 관계)

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of expectation about counseling among self-stigma, public stigma and attitude toward seeking counseling. The participants of this study were 327 university students and this research investigated some results by using SPSS 17.0. The major results were as follows: this study reported the negative effects of public stigma and self-stigma on the attitude toward seeking counseling. Self-stigma showed a significant negative correlation with regard to expectation for the counseling, on the other hand, expectations about the social stigma and counseling did not show a significant correlation statistically. And this study verified the expectation about counseling partially mediated the relationship between self-stigma and attitude toward seeking counseling. The findings of this study provided meaning in that particular search was made for variables that mediate the relationship between self-stigma and attitude toward seeking counseling. This study suggested that the stigma of individual acts effects on using real counseling services than emotional issues with each individual. Finally, this paper suggested the needs of development about the counseling and the education program as a special intervention.

The Panel Analysis of Youth Employment Expectation (청년층의 취업 눈높이 패널 분석)

  • The purpose of this article is to examine the change of employment expectation using the wave 7-11 (2010-2014) of Korea Education and Employment Panel(KEEP). The three main variables are the reservation wage, which has been studied by labor economists for a long time, the convenient working environment factor, the desired job factor. Last two of which are extracted from the 15 survey questions about employment expectation using the factor analysis. Our estimates suggest that male have a higher reservation wage than female while female have a higher level of expectation overall. Women attach more importance to working environment especially. Also, university students have a higher reservation wage and set a higher value on the desired job than employees and job seekers.
