  • An upflow BAF(Biological Aerated Filter) equipped with an expanded clay media was applied to reuse weaving wastewater of water jet loom. The performance of lab-scale biofilter was investigated by the adjustment of EBCTs(Empty Bed Contact Time) and the packing ratio of media, which were changed 1.1 to 3.7hr and 38 to 63%, respectively. In most conditions except 1.1hr of EBCT, BOD, CODcr, SS and Turbidity of the effluent were 1~4mg/L, 7~16mg/L, 1~5mg/L and 5~14NTU, where their removal efficiencies were 76~95%, 82~93%, 63~94% and 59~81%, respectively. From the observation of SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) photographs of porous clay media, it was revealed that this media provided good performance of retaining microbes effectively. In addition, $0.44~0.49kgVSS/kgBOD_{rem}$. of low sludge reduction was expected. The most efficient back washing cycle and procedure were once per 4 to 9 days and air including collapse-pulsing method, respectively. Therefore, this system can be of use as an weaving wastewater treatment for reuse.

  • Total thirty of flushing were attempted on day 4 to 15 of estrus cycle with S heifers and 9 cows by nonsurgical method. The flushed or recovered rate among flushings was 86.7% (26/30) or 88.5% (23/26), respectively. There was no difference in the recovered rate between heifers (85.7%,6/7) and cows (89.5%, 17119). The embryo was recovered on day 4 to 15 of estrus cycle from the donors in natural heat without any technical difficulties. The I2FG Foley catheter used for pubertal heifers had sometimes plug in it with uterine mucus during flushing of uterine horn. But the problem could be overcomed by pumping the catherter with fluthing solution or by changing the catheter. Three normal embryos were recovered from 3 pubertal (10-11 month old) heifers. The rate of normal and abnormal eggs was 60.9% (14123) and 39.1% (9/23), respectively. The abnormal eggs were on degenerating except one unfertilized egg and were mostly recovered from heifers or cows flushed consecutively during the estrus cycle. The developmental states of normal embryos were l6-cells on day 5, 32-cells on day 6, compacted-morula on day 7, early-to expanded-blastocyst on day 8-to 9, and hatching-to hatched-blastocyst on day 10 to 11 of estrus cycle. The stage of embryos on day 8 to 10 showed varities among donors. On day 8 to 9 of estrus cycle hatching-blas tocyst was recovered from some donors.

  • A scanning stereo-PIV system was developed to measure the three-dimensional distribution of three-component velocity in a turbulent round jet. A laser light beam produced by a high repetition rate YLF pulse laser was expanded vertically by a cylindrical lens to form a laser light sheet. The light sheet is scanned in a direction normal to the sheet by a flat mirror mounted on an optical scanner, which is controlled by a programmable scanner controller. Two high-speed mega-pixel resolution C-MOS cameras captured the particle images illuminated by the light sheet, and stereoscopic PIV method was adopted to acquire the 3D-3C-velocity distribution of turbulent round jet in an octagonal tank filled with water. The jet Reynolds number was set at Re=1000 and the streamwise location of the measurement was fixed at approximately x = 40D. Time evolution of three-dimensional vortical structure, which is identified by vorticity, is visualized. It revealed that the existence of a group of hairpin-like vortex structures was quite evident around the rim of the shear layer of the jet. Turbulence statistics shows good agreement with the previous data, and divergence of a filtered (unfiltered) velocity vector field was $7\%\;(22\%)$ of root-me an-squared vorticity value.

  • This paper explains a general coupling system in terms of the system parameters. impedance of a cavity or mobility of a structure. To easily access the mechanism of the structural-acoustic coupled system, a simple expression is derived. A general coupled equation is also derived of a general coupled problem constituted a flexible structure and an opening boundary in terms of vector and matrix notation, and is analyzed the coupling phenomena using the understanding acquired simple coupled system. The paper shows that the general coupled equation is expanded version of the simple coupled equation by some limiting checks. The paper also shows that the degree of coupling is proportioned to a stiffness of the acoustic system and a modal coupling coefficient, but is in inverse proportion to a mass of the structural system and the difference of the excitation frequency and resonant frequency of the acoustic or structural system.

Thus this study will be helpful in establishing an academic field of the exotic image in the domestic fashion industry which can offer the ideas necessary for the style and item developments. As for the research method of this study, the frequency and content multi-dimensional analysis were used in the investigation of the exotic images appearing in the domestic fashion brands. The types of exotic image are #ecological#, #folk & ethnic costume#, #kitchy bricolage#, #womanish#, #period# types by analyzed with the elements of exotic images in the domestic women#s fashion brand. The exotic image in domestic fashion market in the middle of 2000s is the results of fusion phenomena among various trend styles, and through the compromise and mixture of different elements, exaggerations, and historically different times of old and new. In conclusion, the contemporary concept of exotic image is expanded by the sum of many contributing images. They are the folk ethnic costume image originating from various different cultures and also the fusion images of folk ethnic costumes from non-urban, not-modern, not-industrialized images compromised with unfamiliar codes.

  • Pantyhose is a close-fitting garment. Consumers are highly sensitive to any progress done in fitting their lower body and increasing comfort. However, pantyhose manufactured in Korea are only one-sized. The purpose of this study is to suggest the size designation of pantyhose, using new human body measurement data which were gained from the Year 2004 SIZE KOREA project. For the purpose of this study, the ISO standards and JIS standards were reviewed and questionnaire was carried out to manufacturers and distribution companies. The results are as follows: First, for a difference with size standards established in 2002, applicable age range was expanded from 15 to 70 year-old women to entirely include persons who wear panty hose. Secondly considering the actual condition that panty hose is producing in single size in most companies due to its elasticity of material, number of size was reduced from five to four. Thirdly basic parts of body which were applied to panty hose are height and hip girth. And size of panty hose is decided by a chart which is composed of height-axis and hip-axis.

  • Small peptides synthesized by nonribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPSs) genes are found in bacteria and fungi. While some microbial taxa have few, others make a large number and variety. However, biochemical characterization of the products synthesized by NPRS demands a great deal of efforts. Since the completion of genome projects of numerous microorganisms, the numbers of available NRPSs genes are being expanded. Prediction of the peptides encoded by NRPS could save time and efforts. We chose the NRPS gene from Bradyrhizobium japonicum as a model to predict the peptide structure encoded by NRPS genes. Using computational analyses, the domain structure of this gene was defined, and the structure of a peptide synthesized by this NRPS was deduced. It was found that it encoded a tripeptide consisting of proline-serine-phenylalanine. This method would be helpful to predict the structure of small peptides with various NPRS genes from the genome sequence.

  • In the event of a fire on the outer walls of an architectural structure, through real scale experiments with the purpose of estimating the Flame Trajectory, the behavior and risks of expanded combustion to an upper architectural compartment of the Fire Plume Ejected from an Opening according to changes in the aspect ratio of the opening were examined. The results showed that the more the heat release rate of the fire source increased, the heat capacity of the Fire Plume Ejected from the Opening also increased, and for the case of heptane when compared with methanol or ethanol, the results showed a trend for a significant amount of unburned gas to remain. The results also showed that the larger the aspect ratio was, the more likely it was for the Flame Trajectory to approach the outer walls and rise up. In each of the experiment conditions, as the flame rose from the lower part of the wall to the upper part of the wall, a steady decrease was shown for the temperature distribution. Also by quantitatively analyzing the amount of unburned gas that remained, a method to estimate the temperature of the Fire Plume Ejected from an Opening for a traverse opening was implemented.

  • Background: Autogenous alveolar bone cell transplantation may be suitable for tissue engineering for alveolar bone reconstruction. This study aimed to isolate human alveolar bone-derived cells (HABDCs) and to evaluate the ability of collagen gels to support HABDC proliferation and differentiation for human alveolar bone tissue engineering applications. Method: Cultures of primary HABDCs were established from alveolar bone chips obtained from 10 persons undergoing tooth extraction. These cells were expanded in vitro until passage 3 and used for the in vitro characterization of HABDCs and the in vitro analysis of collagen gels for alveolar bone tissue engineering. Results: Of the 10 attempts made to obtain HABDC cultures, eight were successful. HABDCs expressed the osteoblastic phenotype characterized by alkaline phosphatase activity, osteocalcin expression and the mineralization of the extracellular matrix in vitro. When seeded on collagen gels, HABDCs penetrated into the collagen gel matrices and proliferated inside the gels. Significantly, when HABDCs were embedded into the gels, collagen fibers and mineralization were produced within the gels. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the feasibility of using cultured HABDCs and collagen gels for human alveolar bone tissue engineering applications.
