  • Graphite is well known as a material which has high-temperature thermostable property, chemical resistance against acid and alkaline state also is very easy to environment. Nowadays the need of graphite product is increasing rapidly because of its advantages. In this paper, the mechanical property of newly developed graphite products with high density is investigated with especially in compression test. I introduced the graphite specimens for this study by NGF method with two expandable graphite and compared to the specimens of commercial graphite sheet from expanded graphite which made by the rolling process. I investigated the characteristics of these materials by measuring specific weight, hardness, compressive strength and investigating structures by SEM, It is verified that the graphite products with NGF method has superior properties for using gasket materials than that of commercial graphite sheet.

  • Free or pedicled vascularized fibular grafts (VFG) are useful for the reconstruction of large skeletal defects, particularly in cases of scarred or avascular beds, or in patients with combined bone and soft tissue defects. Compared to non-VFG, VEG, which contains living osteocytes and osteoblasts, maintains its own viability and serves as good osteoconductive and osteoinductive graft. Due to its many structural and biological advantages, the free fibular osteo- or osteocutaneous graft is considered the most suitable autograft for the reconstruction of long bone defects in the injured extremity. The traditional indication of VFG is the long bone and soft tissue defect, which cannot be reconstructed using a conventional operative method. Recently, the indications have been widely expanded not only for defects of midtibia, humerus, forearm, distal femur, and proximal tibia, but also for the arthrodesis of shoulder and knee joints. Because of its potential to allow further bone growth, free fibular epiphyseal transfer can be used for the hip or for distal radius defects caused by the radical resection of a tumor. The basic anatomy and surgical techniques for harvesting the VFG are well known; however, the condition of the recipient site is different in each case. Therefore, careful preoperative surgical planning should be customized in every patient. In this review, recently expanded surgical indications of VFG and surgical tips based on the author's experiences in the issues of fixation method, one or two staged reconstruction, size mismatching, overcoming the stress fracture, and arthrodesis of shoulder and knee joint using VFG are discussed with the review of literature.

  • An efficient, economical and practical strengthening method for hollow brick infill walls was proposed and investigated in the present study, experimentally and numerically. This method aims at increasing the overall lateral strength and stiffness of the structure by increasing the contribution of the infill walls and providing the non-bearing components of the structure with the capability of absorbing earthquake-induced energy to minimize structural damage during seismic excitations. A total of eleven full-scale infill walls strengthened with expanded mild steel plates were tested under diagonal monotonic loading to simulate the loading condition of the non-bearing walls during an earthquake. The contact surface between the plates and the wall was increased with the help of plaster. Thickness of the plates bonded to both faces of the wall and the spacing of the bolts were adopted as test parameters. The experiments indicated that the plates were able to carry a major portion of the tensile stresses induced by the diagonal loads and provided the walls walls with a considerable confining effect. The composite action attained by the plates and the wall until yielding of the bolts increased the load capacities, rigidities, ductilities and energy-absorption capacities of the walls, considerably.

  • This paper presents a method to realize the sequential multiple-valued Logic on Galois field. First, We develop so that Taylor series can be corresponded the irreducible polynomial to realize over the finite field, and produce the matrix. This paper object expanded a basic concept of the conbinational Logic circuit so as to apply in the sequential Logic circuit. First of all, We suggest a theory for constructing sequential multiple-valued Logic circuit. Then, We realized the construction with the single input and the multi-output that expanded its function construction. In case of the multi-output, the circuit process by the partition function concept as the mutual independent. This method can be reduced a enormous computer course to need a traditional extention that designed the sequential multi-valued Logic circuit.

  • The purpose of this study is to prepare the basic data for the development of building board with expanded perlite. Each paste was mixed with four levels of water cement ratio(30, 40, 50, 60%), and expanded perlite was substituted with four levels of substitutive ratio(20, 40, 60, 80%) for the each paste. The physical property, compressive strength, bending strength and thermal conductivity of each cement composite which is made through previously described method were analyzed and the result was as follow. In the case of 80 percent substitutive ratio, the cement composite had a mechanical defect which was resulted from lack of paste content. In the case of 40 and 60percent substitutive ratio, the cement composite had sufficient strength, light weight and low thermal conductivity for application to fire resisting board.

  • Rice farmers can save labor and expenses by using expanded rice husk (ERH) as a seedling medium since ERH is lighter and cheaper than other commercial seedling media (CSM). This study was carried out to develop a method for rice seedling cultivation using ERH as a seedling medium. It is suggested that a mixture of $60\%$ of ERH and $40\%$ of a CSM could be used as a seedling medium; the planting densities would be 240g per tray for infant seedlings and 200 g for young seedlings; and nitrogen (N) would be applied at a rate of 1g per tray for infant seedlings prior to planting and 2g per tray for young seedlings with division. Great care should be taken to use $CO(NH_2)_2$ as an N-source fertilizer. These results would lay a foundation for the rice seedling cultivation with ERH as a medium.

  • In this work, expanded graphite (EG)-reinforced poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) nanocomposites were prepared by the melt mixing method and the content of the EG was fixed as 2 wt%. The effect of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as a co-carbon filler on the electrical and mechanical properties of the EG/PET was investigated. The results showed that the electrical and mechanical properties of the EG/PET were significantly increased with the addition of MWCNTs, showing an improvement over those of PET prepared with EG alone. This was most likely caused by the interconnections in the MWCNTs between the EG layers in the PET matrix. It was found that the addition of the MWCNTs into EG/PET led to dense conductive networks for easy electron transfers, indicating a bridge effect of the MWCNTs.

  • The near field structures of an under-expanded, dual, coaxial, jets issuing from the coaxial nozzles with four different geometries are visualized by using a shadowgraph optical method. Experiments are conducted to investigate the effects of the nozzle-lip thickness, secondary stream thickness, the nozzle pressure ratio and the secondary swirl stream on the characteristics of under-expanded jets. The results show that the presence of secondary annular swirling stream causes the Mach disk to move further downstream and increases its diameter, which decreases with a decrease in the nozzle-lip thickness. The secondary stream thickness has an influence on the location of an annular shock wave.

  • For the remote operation of the mobile robot, the human operator depends fully on the sensory information which is the partial information of the workspace of the mobile robot. It is usually very hard to fully manually operate the mobile robot in this situation. We propose the efficient guidance navigation method for improving the efficiency of the remote operation with the expanded guide circle using the sensory information. The guidance command is generated from the proposed algorithm using the expanded guide circle. We evaluated the performance of the proposed algorithm using the experiments.

  • This paper describes Monte Carlo Simulation(MCS) to assess the uncertainty of dynamic pressure calibrator and the expanded uncertainty results that were compared by GUM approximation and MCS. MCS uncertainties were computed using defining a domain of possible inputs, generating inputs randomly using probability distribution, performing a deterministic computation repeatedly and aggregating the results. It was revealed that the expanded uncertainty between GUM and MCS was different from each other. the expanded uncertainties were 0.5366%, 0.4856%, respectively. MCS is a suitable method for determining the uncertainty of simple and complex measurement systems. It should be more widely used and studied in measurement uncertainty calculations.
