Coal gasifier is a key component for achieving high efficiency in integrated gasification combined cycle and indirect coal liquefaction. Although there have been several successful coal gasifiers that were commercially proven, many different design configurations are still possible for a simple and reliable gasifier operation. Four different gasifier design concepts of dry-feeding were compared in terms of residence time, exit syngas temperature and syngas composition. First, cold-flow simulation was applied to pre-select the configuration concepts, and the hot-flow simulation including chemical reactions was performed to compare the concepts at more actual gasifier operating conditions. There are many limitations in applying CFD method in gasifier design, particularly in estimating slag behavior and slag-tap design. However, the CFD analysis proved to be useful in comparing the widely different gasifier design concepts as a pre-selection tool.
This study chose the academic journals related with e-sports for analysis among the top tier journals of National Research Foundation of Korea from 2006 to 2011 to check the academic trend Beginning in 2006, the first study of e-sports was published in the journal related with e-sports. So, the studies from 2006 to 2011 were chosen for analysis. Using Research Information Sharing Service(RISS), the keyword 'e-sports' was searched. By virtue of this process, total 27 studies were selected as final analysis. So, the academic trends are as follows. In Korea, the studies related with e-sports have started from the beginning of 2000s with internet and then it spread out via cable TV. And then from the middle of 2000s, e-sports was discussed seriously. The early subject of the studies usually focused on the measurement of e-sports based on the strategic elements as a product. After that, game addiction and violent tendency which were one of the biggest issues were raised as a constant problem and it became the academic studies of user behavior. E-sports became a recreation culture of teenagers so it has been in charge of the role of exit and the problems related with it have continuously appeared. So, the academic studies tend to have departmentalization like immersion, addiction, sociality, self-regulation and etc. But, there was a tendency that the similar contents were repeated in the view point of subject and method while the subjects were departmentalized. So, for the systematic study of e-sports, development of the unique subject, study method and verification process should be conducted continuously.
This paper analyzes the contents and the effects of the UNSC 2270, and its implications to South Korea's defense strategy and navy. The UN Security Council passed strong sanctions against North Korea which punish North Korea's 4th nuclear test. The sanctions compared to the previous ones require international society to take practical actions such as comprehensive trade bans as well as diplomatic isolation which will put significant pains on North Korea. Especially, these measures would greatly hamper economic development policy of Kim Joung-un regime. Because Kim Jung-un regime has inherent legitimacy problems which stems from the third family succession of the power, economic difficulties may play an important cause on the regime instability in the long term. In fact, the United States sees this possibility as an option to coerce North Korea in which North Korea choose denuclearization for its regime survival. Nevertheless, the prospects of the UN sanctions are not so optimistic. Considering North Korea's willingness for nuclear development and its level of nuclear technology, North Korea will try to play a gambit with the US and South Korea by exploiting its strategic advantages. North Korea's response will have three following strategies. First, it would actively pursue political and economic survival strategy by using China's support for the regime, strengthening its power grip in the name of countering US hostile policy, and enhancing peace propaganda. Second, North Korea will accelerate efforts to position its status as a nuclear de facto state. For this purpose, it could create nuclear crisis on the peninsula. Third, it would exploit local provocations as an exit strategy to get over the current situation. In order to counter North Korea's actions and punish North Korea's behavior strongly, South Korea needs following strategies and efforts. It should first make all the efforts to implement the UN sanctions. Strong and practical nuclear deterrence strategy and capability with the U.S. should be developed. Effective strategy and capabilities for the prevention and deterrence of North Korea's provocation should be prepared. For this purpose, North Korea's provocation strategy should be thoroughly reviewed. Active international cooperation is needed to punish and coerce North Korea's behavior. Finally, South Korea should prepare for the possible occurrence of North Korea's contingency and make use of the situation as an opportunity to achieve unification. All these strategies and efforts demand the more active roles and missions of South Korea's navy and thus, nullify North Korea's intention militarily.
Entry and exits of the rest area are sections where designed speed can be rapidly change and also a weak traffic safety section. In addition, two tasks can be performed simultaneously at entry of the rest area, particularly searching for deceleration and parking spaces/parking sides etc. Thus, design criteria is required in order to procure the stability of accessed vehicle. In case of Korea, geometric structure design criteria of entry facilities, such as toll-gate, interchange, junction etc was established. However there are no presence in a detailed standards for geometric structure of the rest area which affiliated road facilities. In this study, Derive problems in regards to the entry of geometric structure of resting areas by utilizing a sight survey and an investigation research of traffic accidents. The survey was targeting 135 general service areas. After Classifying the design section of resting areas' entry as well as derive design elements on each section, a speed measurement by targeting entry of rest areas and car behavior surveys were performed, then each element's minimum standard was derived through the analyses. According to the speeds at the starting/end point of entrance connector road, the minimum length of the entrance connector road is decided as 40m using Slowing-down length formula and based on the driving pattern, the range of the junction setting angle of the entrance connector road is defined as $12^{\circ}{\sim}17^{\circ}$. Suggest improvement plans for existing rest areas that can be applied realistically. This should be corresponded to the standards of entry and exit of developed rest areas.
This research was to study the behavior of listening music, music preference, meaning and role of music. The interviewees were 158 male/female students of high school in second level. This research had a interview which is composed with 7 multiple choice-questions and 1 short answer-question. In result, in the question of 'The average time of listening music', the most students(64, 41.8%) answered '1~2hours', the secondary, '2~3hours' which was 32.(20.9%) In the next question, 'The preference of music genre', 87students(56.8%) answered 'Korean pop and rock', 'American pop' was 11.1% each. Regarding 'The favorite mood of music', 50.3% of students answered 'Mellow songs, 24.8% of students answered 'Jaunty songs'. Regarding 'The social factor of listening music', more than half students(56.7%) agreed that friends or something like that may affect their music preference. Likewise, 51.6% agreed that their temper or character may affect their music preference. They answered that they enjoy the music usually when they take a rest(30.1%), when in moving(24.3%). Lastly, it said 'The meaning of music' is mostly 'Getting rid of stress and Refresh'(25.1%). And 'Calmness', 'Comfort' was 21.8%. The music especially to students means 'Emotional exit'. The music which can enable them to express their feelings is related with feeling and emotion deeply. And emotional factors like stress, depression, anxiety becomes the main reason of accepting the music meaningfully. In conclusion, This research says that they experience positive feelings and express emotions through music which enables them to understand fully their feelings and emotions.
The purpose of this study is to develop travel-time estimation model using neural networks and prediction model using neural networks and kalman-filtering technique. The data used in this study are travel speed collected from inductive loop vehicle detection systems(VDS) and travel time collected from the toll collection system (TCS) between Seoul and Osan toll Plaza on the Seoul-Pusan Expressway. Two models, one for travel-time estimation and the other for travel-time Prediction were developed. Application cases of each model were divided into two cases, so-called, a single-region and a multiple-region. because of the different characteristics of travel behavior shown on each region. For the evaluation of the travel time estimation and Prediction models, two Parameters. i.e. mode and mean were compared using five-minute interval data sets. The test results show that mode was superior to mean in representing the relationship between speed and travel time. It is, however shown that mean value gives better results in case of insufficient data. It should be noted that the estimation and the Prediction of travel times based on the VDS data have been improved by using neural networks, because the waiting time at exit toll gates can be included for the estimation of travel time based on the VDS data by considering differences between VDS and TCS travel time Patterns in the models. In conclusion, the results show that the developed models decrease estimation and prediction errors. As a result of comparing the developed model with the existing model using the observed data, the equality coefficients of the developed model was average 88% and the existing model was average 68%. Thus, the developed model was improved minimum 17% and maximum 23% rather then existing model .
This study examines the poverty progress and its factors which drove the lives of the middle-aged men in Chokbang area. The observed examples are the retired government officials and the self-employed who have been classified as the ones in the economically-middle class but currently as the welfare recipients. According to the results of in-depth interview and observation, the poverty of the observed has undergone the progress of trigger, worsening, breakup, desperation and stabilizing stages. The poverty factors found in this study could be categorized into two factors; circumstantial factors(bankruptcy after IMF, debt guarantee for relatives) and inner factors(the participants' behavior and characteristics). The circumstantial factors worked mainly in the trigger stage and the inner factors contributed to worsening economic crisis and facilitating the progress. According to the result, this study suggests not only individual-scale measures such as encouragement of familial bond or medical treatment of the alcoholism but also social measures including proper regulation of shark loan and opportunity supply to exit from poverty.
Korean government had used public 'credit guarantee schemes' (CGS) as a counter-cyclical measure. However, it is still controversial about the effectiveness of policy financing on the SMEs. Criticism on policy financing involves the argument that supporting enterprises hampers competition and innovation of SMEs by increasing their dependence on the government and delays the exit of marginal firms. In this paper, we investigate how to effectively build up the rationale of running public CGSs. At the same time, we propose the ways to coexist of public credit guarantee and market-based private finance system for SMEs. First, CGS, as a counter-cyclical function, must coexist with the private financial system by compensating the market failure caused by pro-cyclical behavior of the private financial market. Second, CGS has the comparative advantages, compared to both the interest rate policy of the central bank and fiscal policy of the government. The credit guarantee is the symptomatic treatment that could revitalize the economy shortly by providing liquidity. Also, knowing that CGS is provided based on the leverage ratio defined by outstanding guarantee divided by capital fund, public 'credit guarantee' (CG) has an advantage that is free from the risk of government deficit. Third, the reason for existence of the CGS should be founded in supporting services for SMEs, available only in a public sector that is difficult to expect from private banks. In this regard, it is desirable to strengthen the publicness of credit guarantee over the support for start-ups, growing companies, the improvement of productivity, increase of exports, a long-term investment in facilities, the employment-creating businesses, and innovative enterprises.
Rigorous multiscale modelling and simulation of the MTR for WGSR was carried out to accurately predict the behavior of process variables and the reactor performance. The MTR consists of 4 fixed bed tube reactors packed with heterogeneous catalysts, as well as surrounding shell part for the cooling purpose. Considering that fluid flow field and reaction kinetics give a great influence on the reactor performance, employing multiscale methodology encompassing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and process modeling was natural and, in a sense, inevitable conclusion. Inlet and outlet temperature of the reactant fluid at the tube side was $345^{\circ}C$ and $390^{\circ}C$, respectively and the CO conversion at the exit of the tube side with these conditions approached to about 0.89. At the shell side, the inlet and outlet temperature of the cooling fluid, which flows counter-currently to tube flow, was $190^{\circ}C$ and $240^{\circ}C$. From this heat exchange, the energy saving was achieved for the flow at shell side and temperature of the tube side was properly controlled to obtain high CO conversion. The simulation results from this research were accurately comparable to the experimental data from various papers.

Slot coating process, in continuous and patch modes, has been applied for the many precise coating products, e.g., flat panel displays and second batteries. However, manufacturing uniform coating products is not a trivial task at high-speed operations because various flow instabilities or defects such as leaking, bubbles, ribbing, and rivulets are frequently observed in this process. It is no wonder, therefore, that many efforts to understand the various aspects of dynamics and coating windows of this process have been made both in academia and industry. In this study, as the first topic, flow dynamics within the coating bead in slot coating process has been investigated using the one-dimensional viscocapillary model by lubrication approximation and two-dimensional model by Flow-3D software. Especially, operability windows in both 1D and 2D cases with various slot die lip designs have been successfully portrayed. Also, effects of process conditions like viscosity and coating gap size on slot coating window have been analyzed. Also, some experiments to find minimum coating thickness and coating windows have been conducted using slot die coater implemented with flow visualization device, corroborating the numerical results. As the second topic, flow dynamics of both Newtonian and Non-Newtonian fluids in patch or pattern slot coating process, which is employed in manufacturing IT products such as secondary batteries, has been investigated for the purpose of optimal process designs. As a matter of fact, the flow control in this system is more difficult than in continuous case because od its transient or time-dependent nature. The internal die and die lip designs for patterned uniform coating products have been obtained by controlling flow behaviors of coating liquids issuing from slot. Numerical simulations have been performed using Fluent and Flow-3D packages. Flow behavior and pressure distribution inside the slot die has been compared with various die internal shapes and geometries. In the coating bead region, efforts to reduce irregular coating defects in head and tail parts of one patterned coating unit have been tried by changing die lip shapes. It has been concluded that optimal die internal design gas been developed, guaranteeing uniform velocity distribution of both Newtonian and shear thinning fluids at the die exit. And also optimal die lip design has been established, providing the longer uniform coating layer thickness within one coating unit.
