A Study on the Performances of Exhaust Gas Purification at Process on the Development of Corona Discharge Type Electrostatic Precipitator for Diesel Engines (디젤엔진용 코로나 방전식 전기집진장치의 개발 과정에서의 배기 정화 성능에 관한 기초연구)

  • In this study an experimental research has been conducted to reduce NOx and smoke emission from diesel engine exhaust gas simultaneously by application of corona discharge type electrostatic precipitator(ESP). The ESP was installed between exhaust gas silencer and outlet terminal of exhaust gas system. The operating conditions as input parameters taken in this experiment were corona power input, gas velocity and equivalence ratio of gas. It was found that the corona discharge type ESP has notable effect on reducing smoke in exhaust gas but appeared to bring slight effect on reducing NOx.

  • When an oxidizing catalytic converter which makes use of platium as a catalyst is employed by means if emission control of CO and HC gasoline engine, the effects of important factors for the purification efficiency, i.e engine speed and secondary air rate, on the reduction of CO and HC concentrations in the exhaust gas are studied experimentally. In the experiment, gasoline and LPG are used as a fuel, and the purification efficiency is examined and the results of both cases are compared with each other. The experimental results showed that the purification efficiency in the case of LPG is usually higher than that of gasoline, and the optimum values of engin speed and secondary air rate for maximum purification efficiency exist in common on both cases.

  • This research investigated the exhaust gas purification system of gaseous ozone for pigpens. This system is applied to exhaust the gas outside after purification with ozone. This is very effective for purification and simple. And because this is not set in the pigpens, this system is not influence of pollution gas. This is effected to extend the life time of this system and this system is applied for non-window pigpens which does not need the ventilation.

  • This paper describes emission control of hydrocarbon and carbon-monoxide due to oxidizing catalyst. The experiment was performed on a precious metal pelleted catalyst(Pt). The factors of the efficiency for purification due to oxidizing catalyst are space velocity, temperature, composition of exhaust gas and supplementary air. The experiment was carried out to control the factors of efficiency for purification. The results of experimental study show that temperature of catalytic converter, supplementary air and space velocity affected the efficiency for purification of hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide.

  • Experiments have been conducted to investigate emission characteristics of compressed natural gas fueled vehicle(CNGV) by the FTP 75 mode test. Its purification technologies were also investigated. It was found that CNGV was operated on the rich A/F condition by comparison with gasoline vehicle. The Pd catalyst was higher in methane purification performance than Pt and Pd/Pt/Rh catalysts. Up to 60% portion of the accumulative HC emissions(that contains above 80% methane) form CNGV occurs during the first phase of the FTP 75 mode. CO that is exhausted at rich conditions of the air-fuel ratio more than lean conditions should be used for the catalytic reduction of NOX, because the methane is not the effective reduction for NOX in the CNGV with 3-way catalyst system.

  • In this paper, it is proposed to solve the problem of the harmful exhaust gas reduction device DPF. The exhaust gas is effectively guided through the control of the exhaust gas flow path which is separated in both directions. Through cross control of two DPF units, it helps to improve the purification and regeneration combustion characteristics of harmful emissions. It is possible to prevent an increase in internal pressure caused by deposition of particulate matter in the DPF. It is also an object of the present invention to provide an automobile harmful exhaust gas reduction device capable of solving the problem of lowering the output and lowering the fuel consumption.

Review on Application Progress of Carbon-Based Catalysts in Environmental Governance

  • In recent years, carbon-based catalysts have become a research hotspot in environmental governance applications. Carbon-based catalysts have large surface areas, porous structures, multi-surface functional groups and excellent electron transfer capabilities, and can synergistically exhibit adsorption and catalytic performance. This article reviews the research progress of carbon-based catalysts in environmental governance, mainly including its application in wastewater treatment, exhaust gas purification and soil remediation. In view of the current difficulties in the research of carbon-based catalysts, the development prospects are proposed. We hope that this review will provide convenience for new entrants and researchers intending to employ carbon-based catalysts for the remediation of contaminated environment.

  • A customized cleaning agent was investigated for improving the performance decreased by the pollution of collecting plates in an electric fume collector (EFC) which was developed and applied for the purification of effluent gas including oil mist from the textile industry. The pollutants on the surface of collecting plates were blackened by the condensation of oil mist for a long time and difficult to remove by general cleaning agents. The composition of an optimized cleaning agent consisted of alkali, alcohol, glycol and non-ionic surfactant sources was determined by considering the pollutant properties and effect on the damage of the basic metal of collecting plate and so on. The developed cleaning agent solution diluted by 9.1% was applied to the field test, and also the pollutants strongly adhered on collecting plate surfaces were successfully removed by a simple spraying method. The effluent gas purification efficiency of EFC increased significantly by cleaning of collecting plates.

  • Recently, as people pay attention to the environmental pollution, the emission of diesel engine has become a serious problem. Diesel Oxidation Catalysts(DOC) were experimentally investigated for the purification of pollutants exhaust emission from the diesel engine. In this study, the conversion efficiency of exhaust gas was investigated with various washcoat materials of the DOC. It was formed that CO conversion efficiency depended on temperature, but THC conversion was dominated by temperature and space velocity. Conversion efficiency of THC and CO increased with the addition of ZSM-5 in the washcoat, whereas these conversion efficiency decreased by adding Nd and Ba additives. $V_2O_5$ additive had the thermal stability for high temperature. Thermal durability of the catalyst was improved as increase of $V_2O_5$ additive.

  • Car exhaust $CO_2$ gas reduction and fuel efficiency of the car lighter for the current era is a big challenge. The developments of high-performance Nd magnets, Li-ion secondary battery and exhaust gas purification performance of PGM catalysts used in the lightweight EV and HEV are activated. Country in order to improve the car lighter and function that use the resources of rare metals are ubiquitous imported from China because of export supply control, as soaring prices have unstable supply and demand. Compared to the emissions from the next-generation automotive recycling, waste scarce resources need to be. This study investigated the recycling technology analysis and development of the information technology, or delivered to the researchers by giving national car industry aims to contribute to the development. Findings, pulmonary high-performance motor vehicle emissions in the exhaust gas purification PGM Catalysts, Li-ion battery and Nd magnets recycling technology, such as pre- and post-processing techniques to classify technology, pre-urban mining technology mechanical separation by screening techniques under development, the study and post-processing technology has, pyro and hydro metallurgical smelting technology is established. Waste Recycling in terms of economic efficiency of mechanical components for the intensive study of screening techniques is needed.
