  • Unlike in the past, culture and the arts are now being recognized as key elements for gaining competitive advantage, changing the approach and enjoyment methods of culture and art. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of participation of culture and art activities on the performance of the executives and staff members at M Financial Company. The study resulted in four different findings. First, creative activities have a positive effect on job commitment, but appreciation activities have no statistically significant effect on job commitment. Second, although appreciation activities have a positive effect on creative behavior, it has been confirmed that creative activities have no statistically significant effect on creative behavior. Third, job commitment has a significant effect on creative behavior. Fourth, the relationship between job commitment and job performance shows that job commitment affects job performance positively; creative behavior also positively affects job performance. Finally, we examined the mediating effect between participation in culture and art activities and job performance with job commitment and creative behavior. As a result, job commitment and creative behavior are found to mediate between creative activities and job performance. However, it did not mediate between appreciation activities and job performance. • Construction that over 70% of the structure consists of concrete gets bigger and higher gradually and the demand of that is increasing as well. However, it's not easy to supply young and skilled persons on construction site because of social avoidance phenomena about 3D occupation, so it causes serious problems like aging and shortage of technicians. To solve the problems, executives related to the construction field make a management effort in various ways such as construction period shortening, labor productivity improvement and good quality but recently, they have an increasing interest in the necessity of the modularization of the high-rise building and the automation of the engineering development for the strengthening of international competitive power as more active and long-term alternatives. Therefore, this study is to propose the roadmap in order to make lots of efforts in developing construction technologies of high-rise buildings by performing a foundation study, the strategy for 4-step research development, on modularized construction system of concrete structure of high-rise buildings through domestic and foreign preceding research analyses associated with optimal design modularization technique, module factory automation and assembly automation of modularized objects.

  • With the development of modern society, there have been great technical advances, and the meaning, shape, and type of preservation objects have also become diverse. However, the legislation of executives established in 1961 has nt yet been revised realistically. Thatses administrative problems related to the usge and storage of explosives. In this study, the cases of civilian's question and thought that had been submitted to the government agency were surveyed. In order to analyze the effects of preservation object, ENPro3.1, which is a simulation program to analyze the sound pressure, was used to estimate the blast pressure when a magazine containing preservation objects exploded. With the damage due to the blast pressure, the problem with the safe distance depending on the preservation object levels was investigated. From the investigation, the blast pressures in the two cases with the artificial structures at the real distance 309 m and without the artificial structures at the legitimate standard space distance 440 m, were found to be 123 dB(L) and 138 dB(L), respectively. That means the influence of blast pressure in shorter distance with artificial structures is 15 dB(L) lower than longer distance without them. Therefore, it is recommended to apply the preservation distance based on the engineering analysis with a consideration of surrounding environment.

  • In Korea, the size of the private security industry has grown rapidly since the enactment of the Security Business Act in 1976. Unfortunately, the quantitative development has not been accompanied by the comparable qualities, and this shortcoming can be attributed to different unethical incidents caused by the private security officers. This study examined the causal relationship between the organizational characteristics according to the organizational ethics and the organizational citizenship behavior to provide suggestions to promote the ethics of the private security officers, and ultimately play the role of a theoretical foundation for the qualitative advancement of the industry. Private security officers in Seoul and the Gyeonggi province in Korea were studied by using the purposive sampling method and the following results were obtained. First, except for the altruism factor, the levels of organizational ethics perceptions and organizational citizenship behavior of the subjects were relatively high. Moreover, organizational characteristics had a positive partial effect on organizational ethics and organizational citizenship behavior. Furthermore, organizational ethics partially affected organizational citizenship behavior in a positive way, and organizational ethics had a partial mediation effect between organizational characteristics and organizational citizenship behavior. With the results of the analyses, development and management of the ethics training and programs and promoting the ethics among the executives were recommended as a future direction.

  • In the process of managing organization, the strategic decision-making and corporate performance are not independent, but they are interdependent each other. In most Korean firms, decision-making power and authority are concentrated on the higher echelons of managerial hierarchies. Examining big five trading conglomerates in Korea, this present paper investigates the relationship between strategic decision-making and a corporate performance. Although a number of review studies on Korean management have been developed over the years, there have been less works designed with decision making in mind. In order to achieve research objectives, this paper predicted some hypotheses, and the major findings include: 1) the influence of Korea's long-standing Confucian tradition and culture dominated across organizations, there have not been significant changes in decision-making process within big five trading firms; 2) top executives' excessive involvement in decision-making process does not hinder corporate performance. This result implies that the decision power is still tended to be centralized in the hands of the top management. 3) However, the power of Board of Directors in decision-making has become increasingly important; and 4) decision makers do not tend to misuse or abuse their political position and power for their own interests.

  • With the introduction of the maritime safety supervisor system in Korea following the passenger vessel Sewol accident, the safety control system for coastal vessels has been reinforced. A maritime safety supervisor performs marine accident prevention activities by offering periodical or occasional guidance and supervision. When a deficiency is found during guidance or supervision sessions, an order for improvement is issued to rectify the problem by such measures as supplementation or replacement of vessel facilities, improvement of work hours and working conditions for employees, educational and training programs for executives and employees, or the improvement of other affairs relating to maritime safety control. However the present order for navigation suspension by a maritime safety supervisor is limited solely to supplementation or replacement. For this reason, orders for navigation suspension against other facilities is impossible, even if a serious deficiency that could lead to a marine accident such as poor cargo loading conditions or unqualified crew is identified. Therefore, the order for vessel navigation suspension to secure seaworthiness should be expanded to include cargo loading/unloading operations, certificates and documentation, maritime safety management systems, and human elements including emergency drills and working conditions, in addition to the supplementation or replacement of vessel facilities that exists.

  • Purpose - The present study examined the reliability of accounting information based on the pay slice (CPS) information of chief executive officers (CEOs) in the service industry. The difference in the size of CPS under the capitalist system can be used as an index to gauge the influence of top management. Research design, data, and methodology - In accordance with the amendment of the Financial Investment Services and Capital Market Act in 2013, the pay information of individual registered executives with annual salary of more than 500 million won has been disclosed. The sample of the current study is 232 companies listed on the Korea Exchange excluding financial services from 2013 to 2015, when the individual pay-slice information for registration officers was published in the business report in accordance with the revision of the Capital Market Act. The financial data required for this study were extracted from the FnGuide and the TS-2000. With the data, we tested the relationship between CPS and accounting information reliability through a linear regression analysis. Results - The first result showed that the relationship between the CPS and human resource in internal accounting control system in the service industry is significantly negative only with the accounting department personnel. This result implied that the CEO can negatively affect the retention of the accounting department in the firm. Second, both the CPS and quality of audit in the service industry are negatively related both to audit fees and to audit time. Nonetheless, the relationship between the number of the auditor and the CPS is insignificant. This result indicated that the CEO can negatively affect audit fees and audit time of external auditors. The results of the present study suggested that CPS information may have a negative impact on the reliability of accounting information. Conclusion - This study is the first study to examine the reliability of CPS and accounting information for the service industry in terms of human resources in internal accounting control system and audit quality. Therefore, the present study is expected to provide some useful information to economic decision-making of various external parties for service firms.
