Development of an intentional rounding protocol for nursing undergraduates to apply in clinical practice (간호대학생의 임상실습 적용을 위한 의도적 간호순회 프로토콜 개발)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop an intentional rounding protocol to enhance the clinical competence of nursing students. Methods: An intentional rounding protocol for nursing students' clinical practice was developed following the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. A convenient sampling method was used to select 23 junior year university nursing students during their clinical practice in adult nursing. The program evaluation included a quantitative assessment (communication and relationship efficacy, empathy, and patient safety competency) and focus group interviews. Results: The intentional rounding protocol focused on the 4Ps (pain, position, potty, and possessions) and encompassed aspects such as level of consciousness, pain management, personal care needs, intravenous injection, oxygen administration, nasogastric/nasoenteric tube care, maintenance of urine collection bags, and the identification of environmental fall risks. Nursing students performed intentional rounding at least twice a day. Following the implementation of this protocol, nursing students demonstrated a significant improvement in communication and interpersonal efficacy. The focus group interviews revealed four main themes: growth of human relationships, acquiring knowledge in and about the clinical field, becoming a nurse, and barriers in reality. Conclusion: The intentional rounding protocol has the potential to enhance nursing students' communication and interpersonal skills during clinical practice and to provide them with positive experiences in nursing clinical education. Therefore, it is recommended that this protocol be incorporated into nursing clinical practice education.

  • The connection based TCP protocol provides reliable packet delivery, but it takes certain overhead compare to the connection-less UDP protocol. Thus, 3GPP devise the upper-layer RLC protocol which provides reliability based upon the UDP protocol. Consequently, each implement of a base station and/or mobile terminal require the development of the RLC protocol, and it must qualify various interoperable tests. In this paper, we implement a testbed which verifies the RLC protocol under various packet losses/inversion circumstances of networks. Finally, we propose our testbed as the RLC protocol tester for the developments.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a CSMA/CA protocol to reduce the delay time and increase the throughput of the original CSMA/CA protocol. In underwater environments, the efficiency of the protocol is reduced due to the increase of the propagation delay time, which results in increase of the collision possibility causing lowering of the transmission efficiency Considering this propagation delay, this paper propose to insert the STANDBY frame in a CTS packet in order to avoid the TimeOut status of the CSMA/CA protocol. According to the simulated test results, proposed protocol is increased about 20% throughput than original CSMA/CA protocol. And the more value of propagation per transmission delay 'a' is low, the more throughput of protocol is better.

  • As using of network increases rapidly, performance of system has been deteriorating because of the overhead and bottleneck. Nowadays, High speed I/O network standard, that is a sort of PCI Express, HyperTransport, InfiniBand, and so on, has come out to improve the limites of traditional I/O bus. The InfiniBand Architecture(IBA) provides some protocols to service the applications such as SDP, SRP and IPoIB. In our paper, We explain the architecture of IPoIB (IP over InfiniBand) and its features in channel based I/O network. And so we provide a performance evaluation result of IPoIB which is compared with current network protocol. Our experimental results also show that IPoIB is batter than TCP/IP protocol. For this test, We use the dual processor server systems and Linux Redhat 9.0 operating system.

  • Networking for manufacturing is gaining importance as a nerve system of computer-integrated manufacturing(CIM). Among the various network types, the most inexpensive type called fieldbus is specifically aimed to interconnect simple devices such as sensors and actuators. For this purpose, there are several choices of the protocol such as Profibus, FIP, Foundation Fieldbus, and IEC/ISA fieldbus. This paper presents the simulation results of Profibus and FIP. Both protocols has been simulated in order to evaluate the performance such as transmission delay and throughput under different protocol parameter setting and traffic conditions.

  • The growing usage of multimedia communication applications with specific bandwidth and real-time delivery requirements has created the needs for quality of service(QoS). In response to the growing demand for an integrated services, the Reservation Protocol(RSVP) has been designed to exchange resource reservation among routers in the internet. RSVP protocol provides the quality of service for real-time applications but the network efficiency is reduced because of the limited bandwidth. In order to use network resources efficiently. We compare the resource efficiency of traditional reservation methods with that of the proposed method and evaluate the performance of the internet phone.

  • For communication between heterogeneous conference systems, it is important to build a conference control protocol independent from signaling protocols. We simulate an XML-based conference control that is under consideration as a standard mechanism. We describe the framework and operations for easy implementation in heterogeneous conference systems. The simulation results show that the proposed control protocol provides a consistent service for an increasing number of conferences and participants in small to mid-size centralized conferencing.

  • The 129 public institutions in Korea are subject to Information Security Management Condition Evaluation (ISMCE) as a part of the government management evaluation system by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. ISMCE is started in 2006 with the central government institutions, and applied to the all public institutions in 2009. This evaluation is annually conducted by the National Intelligence Service through the site visits, and the number of the evaluated institutions is increasing year by year. However, the process of ISMCE - identifying existing vulnerabilities in the information system - is conducted manually. To improve this inconvenience, this paper introduces the various evaluation system in the major countries, especially in the United States, and analyzes the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) by NIST. SCAP is automation protocol for the system vulnerability management (in technical fields) and security policy compliance evaluation. Based on SCAP, this paper suggests an improvement plan for the ISMCE of Korea.

  • IPsec protocol has been developed to provide security services to Internet. Recently IPsec is implemented on the various operating systems Hence, it is very important to evaluate the stability of the Ipsec protocol as well as other protocols that provide security services. However, there has been little effort to develop the tools that require to evaluate the stability of IPsec protocols. Therefore, in this paper, we develope the security requirements and suggest a security evaluation system for the Internet packet protection protocols that provide security services at the If level that can be used to check if the security protocols Provide the claimed services correctly This system can be used as debugging tool for developing IPsec based security system.

Reliability and Validity of the Appropriateness Evaluation Protocol for Public Hospitals in Korea

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to assess the applicability of the Appropriateness Evaluation Protocol (AEP) for public hospitals in Korea. Methods: In May 2016, 1500 admission claims were collected from Korean public district hospitals using stratified random sampling. Of these claims, 560 admissions to 37 hospitals were retrieved for analysis. Medical records administrators determined the appropriateness of admission using the criteria detailed in the AEP, and a physician separately assessed the appropriateness of admission based on her clinical judgment. To examine the applicability of the AEP, the concordance of the decisions made between a pair of AEP reviewers and between an AEP reviewer and a physician reviewer was compared. Results: The results showed an almost perfect inter-rater agreement between the AEP reviewers and a moderate agreement between the AEP reviewers and the physician. The sensitivity and specificity of the AEP were calculated as 0.86 and 0.56, respectively. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that the AEP could potentially be applied to Korean public hospitals as a reliable and valid instrument for assessing the appropriateness of admissions.
