  • This paper deals with the relative efficiency of two kernel estimators $\hat{f}_n$ and $\hat{g}_n$ by using spherical data, as proposed by Park (2012), and Bai et al. (1988), respectively. For this, we suggest the computing flows for the relative efficiency on the 2-dimensional unit sphere. An evaluation procedure between two estimators (given the same kernels) is also illustrated through the observed data on normals to the orbital planes of long-period comets.

  • In this research, a mathematical programming model is developed for the economic modeling of sampling plans based on two evaluation criteria : the outgoing quality and the average total inspection cost A fuzzy goal programming model and its solution procedure are proposed for the managers whose management objectives on the two evaluation criteria are not rigorous. To study the sensitivity of quality characteristic dependence on the resulting inspection plans, a numerical example is solved several times for a dependent model.

  • To evaluate the fatigue lifetime of structures, it is necessary to identify the value of parameters through tests or literature. it is difficult for field engineers to get the necessary data through tests from the viewpoint of time and cost. In this study. we surveyed literature and proposed a procedure to identify the fatigue parameters for fatigue life evaluation by local strain approach.

  • A fuzzy mathematical model is presented that can be applied to support the inspection of organizations by an internal or external evaluation group. The model offers the opportunity to deal with the situation of common practice in which such evaluations are considered as a time series rather than single events. A hypothetical but realistic example is given to illustrate the computational procedure involved.

  • The main purpose of this study is to establish the reliable method for evaluating fire damage of reinforced concrete building, by using the rational procedure, and to develope the rehabilitation methods of fire damaged concrete structures. Especially, this proposed evaluation method is applied to the fire damaged concrete buildings of domestic, and the rehabilitation methods on the basis of these applied results are proposed and those example are shown. The proposed rational evaluation method for fire damaged concrete building proceeds is estimating the reduction of the mechanical properties of concrete of fire damaged structural members in comparison with the experimental results which are obtained from the compression tests of heated concrete specimens under various temperatures.

  • Nowadays, lots of software that have similar functions is being produced. Hence it is getting more important to select the best and suitable software for each individual or company. Moreover, there are few trustworthy materials regarding to the objective procedure and criteria for the best evaluation of the software quality. To overcome these problems, benchmarking has been carried out. However, benchmarking is also confronting the limit of quality evaluation verification due to the difficult of the objectification of the major test items. To solve these problems, some others try to evaluate the quality of software using objective criteria of evaluation based on ISO/IEC standards. Nevertheless, this method using these defined evaluation items and criteria may result in not very reliable outcome. Therefore, this paper offers the evaluation items reflected in the characteristics of each software in order to prove the validity of the proposed method. Moreover, the objective and quantitative criterion which analyzes and reflects the organization characteristics using AHP methodology is applied to the experiment and performance evaluation. Hence we expect that the proposed method provides the needs of the re-establishment of software quality evaluation criteria and the improvement of process in terms of management.

  • An inverse self-iterative procedure is developed to estimate layer moduli and stresses in cement concrete pavement systems from the falling weight deflectometer deflection basins. The existing concrete pavement highways are analyzed using coupled analysis procedure of finite element and layer elastic theory for models obtained through factorial design, from which the characteristics of deflection basins are studied and the empirical equations are proposed for the estimation of layer moduli. The empirical equations are used to assume initial moduli, and the relations between the rate of change of moduli and deflections are used in the self-iterative procedure to ensure accuracy of moduli. The developed computer program of this procedure is verified through various numerical model tests.
