  • In order to investigate elementary school students' readiness to write on scientific subject, we analyzed the participants' draft in elementary student section [National Student Science Writing Contest] which is sponsored by a daily press. As a first step, we designed an assessment framework to analyze the students' writing. It is composed of three domains: scientific thinking, logical validity, creativeness. Each domain has three sub-domains. By using the framework, seven raters scored the students' inquiry reports. The findings reveal that the students needed the training for scientific writing. Especially they had great difficulty in the sub-domain of 'suggestion of rational alternative solution' in scientific thinking domain, the sub-domains of 'clearness' and 'coherence' in logical validity domain, and in the sub-domains of 'creative problem solving' and 'creative presentation' in creative domain.

  • Mobile Government is one of the new and important developments in e-government. The promise of m-government to provide greater access to government information is progressing in many developed and developing countries. Current Mobile Government does not exploit the full potential of available technology. Research shows there is a lack of a perfect killer application [2][1]. Firstly, this paper begins with an overview of e-gov and m-gov. In this context, this paper aims to present a framework to find killer applications in M-government to which researchers must pay attention and develop suitable way to perform according to different countries' contexts.

  • As NCW has appeared, the importance of interoperability in modern warfare has been also increased. Korean Defense has constructed and used the Systems Interoperability Test & Evaluation System based on LISI, in order to increase interoperability between Defense Information Systems. However, its evaluating targets are limited to only the information systems, so that it is difficult to apply it to weapon systems. This paper proposes an integrated interoperability assessment framework for korean embedded software of weapon systems based on reviewing the limitations of SITES and the other interoperability assessment models.

  • This paper proposes an intelligent decision framework for update of the environment model using GSPN(generalized stochastic petri nets). The GSPN has several advantages over direct use of the Markov Process. The modeling, analysis, and performance evaluation are conducted on the mathematical basis. By adopting the probabilistic approach, our decision framework helps the robot to decide the time to update the map. The robot navigates autonomously for a long time in dynamic environments. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme is useful for service robots which work semi-permanently and improves dependability of navigation in dynamic environments.

  • As technology develops, more advanced technologies involving GPS, GIS, RFID and sensor networks have been adopted in agriculture sector for u-Farm. However, technology adoptions have been evaluated as ineffective. Farmers and agri-business have low level of understanding on technology so it is not efficiently utilized. This study introduces a case of RFID/sensor networks of mushroom farm as a u-Farm case study, focusing on developing a framework for analysis of u-Farm investment returns. RFID and sensor networks improve real-time production control, processing management, and traceability. Integration of RFID and sensor networks leads to innovation into the mushroom farm, reducing labor cost, increasing productivity, and improving quality of the mushroom. The ROI which is used as an indicator of performance indicator is 413%.

  • After the Fukushima Daiichi accidents, public concerns on nuclear safety and the corresponding burden of nuclear power plant licensees are increasing. In order to secure public trust and enhance the rationality of current safety regulation, we develop a risk-informed decision making (RIDM) framework for the Korean regulatory body. By analyzing all the regulatory activities for nuclear power plants in Korea, eight action items are selected for RIDM implementation, with appropriate procedures developed for each. For two items in particular - the accident sequence precursor analysis (ASPA) and the significance determination process (SDP) - two customized risk evaluation software has been developed for field inspectors and probabilistic safety assessment experts, respectively. The effectiveness of the proposed RIDM framework is demonstrated by applying the ASPA procedure to 35 unplanned scrams and the SDP to 24 findings from periodic inspections.

  • In cloud computing service it is important to share the system resource among multiple instances according to user requirements. In particular, the issue of efficiently distributing I/O resources across multiple instances is paid attention due to the rise of emerging data-centric technologies such as big data and deep learning. However, it is difficult to evaluate the I/O resource distribution of a Linux container, which is one of the core technologies of cloud computing, since conventional I/O benchmarks does not support features related to container management. In this paper, we propose a new I/O performance benchmarking framework that can easily evaluate the resource distribution of Linux containers using existing I/O benchmarks by supporting container-related features and integrated user interface. According to the performance evaluation result with trace-replay benchmark, the proposed benchmark framework has induced negligible performance overhead while providing convenience in evaluating the I/O performance of multiple Linux containers.

  • The application of cloud computing to many industrial domains is rapidly increasing, and domestic and foreign cloud service providers are actively conducting business. In the domestic cloud market, it is necessary to establish an ecosystem with partner operators that work closely with private cloud service providers. In this paper, to create such an environment, we propose a framework that can evaluate the capabilities of partners required for cloud service providers to establish specific business strategies. The framework proposed in this study establishes criteria for evaluating partners' competencies and applies a decision-making model such as fuzzy AHP for evaluation. Eventually this will help not only to expand the domestic cloud market but also to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic cloud partners through the growth of the domestic cloud market.

  • Promoting energy-efficient retrofit of existing buildings to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 is critically vital and challenging. The bulk of outdated educational buildings in particular are of grave concern since they are not only have a significant negative impact on the environment but also dangerous to inhabitants'health. This study laid the groundwork for understanding the connection between occupant health and energy efficiency. This study proposes a prioritized strategic GR framework in South Korea's aging preschools. The possible prospects and levels of development in the GR plan are identified by this evaluation. Policy markers, educators, and other key stakeholders may help to create a more sustainable and healthy environment by putting the recommended framework into practice.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a systematic framework that can scientifically and quantitatively evaluate the effectiveness of an LVC training system. The proposed framework is based on QFD(Quality Function Development) methodology. The process of developing the framework begins with identifying various needs of stakeholders related to the introduction of the LVC training system. Then the effectiveness areas and factors are derived based on the needs. The measured effectiveness for each factors on alternatives by L, V, C systems are finally synthesized into the one overall effectiveness of each training system for relative comparison among them. In addition, we developed an Excel$^{TM}$-based tool based on the proposed framework methodology to provide an ease-of-use environment for rapid evaluation on the effectiveness of each training system with the given stakeholder need importance combinations, training scenarios and assets. The suggested framework and the measurement tool are expected to be useful for efficient knowledge-based decision making on an acquisition of the LVC training system.
