  • This paper compares a cross-cultural and gender differences and similarities about consumer ethical perceptions and behaviors, and ethical ideologies between Korean and the US college students. It also examines the relationships between consumers' ethical perceptions and behaviors, and the relationships between consumer ethics and ethical ideologies. This research provides some evidence that supports the premise that consumer ethics is influenced to an extent by consumers' nationality and gender. The differences are not universal, however, and could perhaps be described as situational. The American college consumers were found to be more idealistic and relativistic than the Korean college consumers. But the differences were minor The American male college consumers were found to be more idealistic than the American female college consumers. The ethical consumer groups were found to be more idealistic and less relativistic than were the unethical consumer groups. Perceptions were positively related to behaviors in the consumer ethics. But the magnitude of impacts is different between the nations and in the dimensions of consumer ethics.

The results of this study were as follows. 1) The results of the factor analysis and the reliability test on ethical consumption consciousness for high school students clearly showed factorial structures including Pro-environmentalism, Animal welfare, Social responsibility, and Recycling. 2) Analysis of the differences in the means of ethical consumption consciousness, knowledge, and behaviors of respondents between pre-test and post-test revealed that posttest means of all research variables after application of the education program were higher than pre-test means. 3) The ethical consumption knowledge had important medicating roles in the relationship between ethical consumption consciousness with regard to clothing and general ethical consumption behaviors. Overall, the study provides empirical evidence to support the notion that there is a need for applying an ethical consumption education program to lead adolescents to consume ethically.

It also aimed to verify the mediating effect of organization-based self-esteem in the process that ethical leadership affects members' innovative behavior in distribution-related organizations. Research design, data and methodology: After collecting materials from companies' executives and staff members in distribution-related organizations located in Seoul, South Korea, a research hypothesis was analyzed. Results: A superior employee's ethical leadership affects a positive (+) effect on innovative behaviors of the organization's members and the study confirmed that the relation of this effect was mediated by organization-based self-esteem. It means that the possibility that an organization's members will do innovative behaviors will be increased if a leader conducts ethical leadership. It also means that a leader with ethical leadership enables an organization's members to pay attention all the time and be awake for their work environment. Conclusions: The result of this study discusses how ethical leadership affects innovative behaviors of an organization's members from the perspective of organization-based self-esteem and has a theoretical implication that it has empirically examined it. More importantly, it has a theoretical implication because it verified how this effect was made using organization-based selfesteem and flexible human resource management.

  • This study investigated the differences of consumers' perception toward immoral shopping behavior when they shop in apparel retail stores by consumer characteristics such as ethical ideology and gender. Forsyth's(1980) ethical ideology measuring idealism and relativism was used. Three hundred twenty-five college students enrolled at a large university located in a metropolitan area participated in the study. These students were divided into four groups on the basis of their ethical ideology: situationist, subjectivist, exceptionist, or absolutist. A series of factor analyses revealed three factors of immoral shopping behaviors: shoplifting, active immoral shopping behaviors, and passive immoral shopping behaviors. The four groups significantly differed in regard to their perceptions toward active immoral shopping behaviors and passive immoral shopping behaviors. T-tests revealed that females tended to perceive shoplifting and passive immoral shopping behavior factor worse than males. The results of this study would be used for developing consumer educational programs and retail training programs.

To achieve these two research purpose of this study, this study employed two research methods: literature review and empirical testing of the developed hypotheses. The results showed that there was a positive and statistically significant relationship between ethical leadership and employees' behaviors (OCB and in role behavior), and psychological ownership played as a moderator in the relationship between ethical leadership and employees' behaviors. Based on the findings, this study discussed practical implications and suggested future research directions.

  • This study aimed to make an empirical investigation into the effects of supervisor's ethical leadership in a public library on its members' organization citizenship behaviors. While a number of studies on the associations between ethical leadership and organization citizenship behavior were carried out in other areas, such studies have been very few in the area of library. In this context, this study hypothesized and verified the relationship between ethical leadership and organization citizenship behaviors in the area of library. As a result of empirical analysis, it was found that ethical leadership has positive (+) effects on conscientiousness, courtesy, and sportsmanship among the components of organization citizenship behaviors. This demonstrates the importance of ethical leadership, and suggests the necessity for further extensive studies that investigate the effects of ethical leadership on members' organizational commitment and job satisfaction, through the input of diverse variables.
