  • Theoretical IPMSM control technique is complicated, and reliability is low because of the changing parameters. Further, in case of general look-up table designing method which obtains torque characteristics (according to current and speed) or torque characteristics (according to magnetic flux through the entire control region), obtaining a precise result can be difficult and has the disadvantage taking too much time to establish a current look-up table. In this paper, the new auto maximum torque point tracking (MTPT) algorithm that automatically finds the optimum stator d - q axis electric current reference through the entire speed region is devised; consequently, it could establish a 3D look-up table with torque characteristics according to current and speed. In case of using the devised auto MTPT algorithm, the result value detailed was obtained in comparison with the generalized look-up design technique, and checked to reduce the current look-up table establishment time.

  • Optimal criterion for the scale-up production of schizophyllan, a fungal polysaccharide secreted by Schizophyllum commune, was investigated. For the production of the polysaccharide in a 150-l bioreactor, the culture conditions optimized in a 15-l bioreactor were applied to a 150-l bioreactor with scale-up process, by changing impeller speed and airflow rate. The optimized impeller speed in the 15-l bioreactor was 50 rpm in a technical medium based on barley. For establishment of the scale-up process, 3 kinds of criteria were used while the gas throughput number was kept constant, as follows; constant volume-related power input, constant tip speed of stirrer, and constant Reynolds number. In the 150-l bioreactor, the highest values for the maximum specific growth rate (1.17/day) and productivity (0.63 g/L${\cdot}$day) were achieved in the culture condition from constant volumerelated power input criterion.

  • To study the lubrication performance of tilting-pad thrust bearing (TPTBs) during start-up in nuclear pump, a hydrodynamic lubrication model of TPTBs was established based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method and the fluid-structure interaction (FSI) technique. Further, a mesh motion algorithm for the transient calculation of thrust bearings was developed based on the user defined function (UDF). The result demonstrated that minimum film thickness increases first and then decreases with the rotational speed under start-up condition. The influence of pad tilt on minimum film thickness is greater than that of collar movement at low speed, and the establishment of dynamic pressure mainly depends on pad tilt and minimum film thickness increases. As the increase of rotational speed, the influence of pad tilt was abated, where the influence of the moving of the collar dominated gradually, and minimum film thickness decreases. For TPTBs, the circumferential angle of the pad is always greater than the radial angle. When the rotational speed is constant, the change rate of radial angle is greater than that of circumferential angle with the increase of loading forces. This study can provide reference for improving bearing wear resistance.

Analysis of Seed Germinating Vigor, Germination Speed and Peak Time in 9 Fescues under Alternative and Natural Conditions at the Room Temperature (자연 실온 및 변온 환경에서 광엽 및 세엽 훼스큐 9종류의 종자 발아력, 발아세 및 발아 피크 기간 분석)

  • This study was initiated to investigate seed germinating vigor, germination speed, and establishment characteristics of Festuca species under natural conditions ($5-25^{\circ}C$). Germination rate was 62.0% in CRF 'Audubon' to 97.0% in TF 'Olympic Gold'. It was greater with TF over fine-type fescues, being TF>SF>CF, HF>CRF. The germination speed, measured as days to seed germination of 50% through 80%, was fastest with TF, medium to high with CF, medium with HF and SF, and slowest with CRF. However, it was approximately 4 days slower under natural conditions, as compared with that under alternative conditions ($15-25^{\circ}C$). Germination peak time was much faster with TF. It ranged from 0.73 to 1.84 days with TF, being 1.45 days in average. But it varied with 2.16 to 11.75 days among fine-type species. The peak time was longer in order of SFCF>SF>HF>CRF.

  • The analysis of a mechanical system, body traveling along the elastic structure, has been a topic of interest. The establishment of analytical method for the development and control of this system is required in the fields of many machine operations such as modern weapons and high-speed feed drive system for a machine tool. The dynamic equations are derived on the torsion of a cantilever hollow shaft induced by the spin-up of a moving mass and the displacement of the mass. Influences of design parameters such as the inertia ratio, the mass moving speed and the friction coefficient are discussed on the transient response of the system.

  • Flight test is the final and a mandatory process for the development of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) as well as manned. Since most UAVs fly in a low speed and are prone to adverse weather conditions such as air turbulence, atmospheric weather environment around flight test regions will be a critical item to be considered for a flight test planning for UAVs. In this paper, we suggest a decision method for a UAV flight test schedule based on weather conditions of surface and upper atmospheres and also introduce a program for an effective flight test planning through weather forecasts.
